hmm...so, let me get this straight.

Columbus "discovered" the new world and returned with more men who nearly wiped out all of the native population. This contained well into the history of the American states and was brutal and unjust. (Although, it certianly wasn't 400 million people. There were at MOST 112 million natives in the Americas when Columbus first arrived. In addition, 80% of those left dead died not of combat, but of disease.)

The early Church was led by Peter who was choosen by Christ to lead the Church. The Catholic Church is guided by the Holy Spirit to define the faith and that is what it has been done since the begining. Nicea was about stating what the Truth is. Constatine may have led the council, but it is up to the successor of Peter to make the findings of the council official.
