This watch should be issued out to every special forces' members. I really don't see any other mechanical watch can withstand the amount of abuse like this watch. Even though I am a big SINN fan. This Seiko can go a long way with any service needed.

.....but same can be said about any simple Seiko 5s,which are really exceptional values.

This watch is amazing .. I have it and is really spectacular. I love feeling that I carry 210 gr Japanese steel in the wrist and to say of his caliber 8l35 .. really great.

Hey, can anyone tell me how the MM compares in size to the older Seiko 6309 divers? I have a 6309-7290 and it is the PERFECT size for my wrist and my tastes. Is the MM case much larger?

The MM is larger by 2 MM in diameter I believe.

MM = 44 MM w/o crown

6309-7290 = 42 MM s/o crown.

The MM is also thicker by about 1.5 MM.

MM = 14.5 MM

6309-7290 = 13 MM

Those figures are approximates. I could be off a bit.

For value for money, I'd opt for the SEIKO Marinemaster over an Omega or Rolex, simply because I'd be less concerned about wearing the SEIKO in rough conditions. Everyone's opinion is subjective: just accept it!

Omega is for tiny kids who want cereal box watches. Hey moron, the omega co-axial movmt has design problems and is full of bugs.

look at all the problems people have with this mvmt in the public forums. It stops, they send it for repair, and months later it stops again.

if you want real watch get a high end Seiko, otherwise your fancy brand names are just names admired by losers who know nothing about engineering.

For the idiots who say the MM is a ripoff of the Rolex Sub, then you might as well say that the SeaDweller is a ripoff of the MM. Why? Because the MM doesn't have a cyclops on the crystal, so Rolex copied them by not putting a cyclops on the SeaDweller. I guess this line of reasoning makes sense to some people cause this is in "effect" their argument. Why don't you just say that every watch that has an hour, minute and seconds hand is a ripoff of a Rolex?

I'd say looks-wise it's more a ripoff/homage to the Omega Seamaster line. As for second-rate? No way. Seiko doesn't have Swiss-cred, but they are the best made watches in the world. You want image? Buy the Rolex. Everyone will assume you're wearing a fake. You want quality, buy the Seiko. It's like comparing a BMW to a Lexus.

Why would you want to buy a mass produced, extensively copied, non-exclusive rolex sub? The Seiko marine master is much rarer in my opinion and it is hand assembled by a team of watch makers in Japan. Plus, Seiko are one of the few companies that manufacture ALL parts of their movements in house, including the lubricant!

I totally agree b3nry on this. I have my MM300 coming this weekend and I'm psyched. Hardly a Rolex OR Omega copy (I have both). The MM300 is a different watch all together. Anyone who would call it a blatant ripoff must be blatantly blind.

You are dopey, this is nothing like a Rolex submariner. this is Truly a Dive Watch and not a lousy Rolex. The fit and finish, and performance of the Seiko is far an above the Rolex Mariner. This SEIKO is a REAL BONAFIDE design from the ground up professional diver. The Rolex 'diver' is nothing more than a Rolex novelty watch that the Rolex Wearer can get "wet", but it's not a true "diver". Rolex is so overrated because of resale. They are Poorly Finished and Rated in terms of Performance.

According to your logic, ALL watches with a bezel are copies of the Rolex Sub. Yeah, I had Rolex Sub and SeaDweller before. I got sick and tired of people always questioning me if they were fake. I sold them and good riddance. The only Rolexes around today are fake and a dime a dozen. I bought a Seiko MM which is a real diver. It's so unique, I have never met anybody with one or anyone who knows what it is!!

im considering to get a tissot watch or a swiss army diver watch because of the fact that they use saffire crystal which is scratch prrof. so i think it is better buying them ones instead of seiko or citizen dive watches... they are not even that expensive - the swiss army dive only is about 300 pounds.

just remember sapphire crystal may be virtually scratch prof but is known to shatter when struck. both of my Seiko divers with the hardlex mineral crystal suffer some heavy blows every day and have not cracked yet. they do have a few light scratches but you would have to look for them to see them. Seiko's Hardlex Crystal is pretty tough.

I've owned both and there's no comparison. Even if they cost the same, the Marine Master would be the better watch by a country mile. When you factor in that it's only a third of the price of a Rolex, there really is no contest.
