  • I'd be more impressed if the "barricade" was more than two guys by a door

  • i feel embarrassed to be a college student

  • Next time use rubber bullets, pepper spray, and tear gas. Stupid kids will learn what the fucks up.

  • Cant afford NYU? Dont go there! Besides you hippies are probably majoring in something that will never get you a career.

  • NYU is such a shithole

  • @X208 they're security gaurds

  • the drum circle has grown...

  • Damn, those police officers could hold back a bunch of small girls? pretty pathetic.

  • -.- those unorganzied hippies do more harm than good with shit like that

  • If this happened in France it would have been 55,000 protesters instead if 55. And, it would have gotten UGLY. Americans suck!

  • @kuei1248 are you french?

  • Reminds of me 1989 china. Difference is those students were dispersed immediately after the officials put their foot down. Tanks would work good in this nyu situation too.

  • @ScottAldas You're an idiot.

  • @ScottAldas You do know there's a difference between private and public scchool's right?

  • A khaffiyeh on a protester is like a short man in a Ferrari. You know they are upset about something but it really isn't politically relevant.

    GET SOME, PILLOCKS.

  • @X208 Have you even heard what the students demands were? They are very reasonable. And those cops are dicks. I don't feel sorry for them in the least

  • @Lattenkiste

I've heard the students demands. They were as convoluted as they were absurd. The demands ranged from a complete record of University expenditures including teacher and administration salaries to an in depth investigation of all war and genocide profiteers in Palestine. For anyone unfamiliar with geopolitics, that’s the equivalent of a child holding his breath until a parent is willing to free Tibet.

  • @TheAntiV

    Nice Job ripping off Cracked.com

Seriously half the people viewing this video atm would have been directed from that website.

  • @Lattenkiste Reasonable? That's the best joke I heard all day. Disconnected from reality is the better term.

  • With all the exits blocked, a well-timed fire would have trapped them all, and would have ended this quickly and in complete disaster.

  • wow, people just rushing past is refreshing to see. Where I'm from, people try to negotiate their way past the bricks in uniform.

  • hippies suck

  • if I were a cop I'd risk the death sentence just to open fire on those idiots.

  • hurray! you've changed the world! thank you soooooo much!

  • LOL Greenwich Village.

  • these kids go to nyu lol

  • If you don't want your parents paying 50k a year for school... got to a different school!!!!!!

  • The absolute stupidity on YouTube never fails to amaze me. No I'm talking about the people in the video. I'm talking about all the comments I've read in response. You've got people saying that this is wrong for this or that reason and it has nothing to do with the issue at hand. Thank you all for proving to the world that most Americans really are that stupid.

  • Agreed. But this isn't really liberalism; it's just stupidity. Honestly, I think the far left and far right have more in common with each other than they do with the mainstream left or the mainstream right.

  • Wow, you guys pushed by some guards.

And then broke into your daycare. Cool.

  • Wow, welcome to loooserville. How embarrassing. Check out how many are wearing shemaghs...LOL...you can buy them at Macy's in NY. So pathetic.

  • Naive rich kids indeed. Losers who have no understanding of how the world works, and think people CARE about stupid shit like this. Hippie dorks. Go get fucking jobs.... oh, and in response to zomgzonoz - this doesn't give liberalism a bad name... this is the true face of liberalism. Liberalism deserves the bad name.

  • define real world. you think working at mcdonalds makes you more real than getting an education? you do realize that anyone can be one-upped right? i can say you are some american elitest who doesnt know what suffering is because you don't see the violence and oppression in parts of africa. or you dont know what working for a living is unless you have worked in sweat shops.

  • Congrats worldsavy - You look down your nose at anyone who works at McDonalds, because you have never needed a job... because you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. You have disdain for the people that make the world function. you think that anyone who WORKS for their living, HONESTLY - is the "bad guy". My grandparents were immigrants who spoke little english but still worked hard. My father farmed and we went without many things. and I am what you call "elitist" ???

  • lol you are honestly trying to one up me? silver spoon in my mouth? stop being a drama queen, you are embarrassing. your grandparents were immigrants? my parents were immigrants who escaped an oppressive government. my dad died before i was born. my mom raised me with no family or friends and she knew very little english. would you like me to tell you my sob story about how i lived through "inner city" schools and almost died? i worked hard and im not apologizing to some self pitying jerk on YT.

  • Nobody's trying to one up anyone. I just don't fit your convenient little mold of "elitist American".

Whether or not your or my parents or grandparents were immigrants has nothing to do with the indisputable fact that all the no-life losers in this NYU thing should spend the rest of their lives on a chain gang somewhere.

  • oh these guys are douchbags, i agree, but at the same time u can't generalize everyone who goes to nyu. i never said u were some elitest, read my comment again.

i don't get why people protest over nyu's tuition price. if they can't afford it, no one is forcing them to attend. They chose a private university, it's not fair for them to hold other people's facilities' hostage because they refuse to adapt.

  • Worldsavy: I couldn't agree more - well said. It's free market capitalism. If you think someone is charging you too much, stop buying the product and/or buy the product (in this case a college degree) from one of their competitors.

However, what these people were doing was simply terrorism, plain and simple.

Too bad that, in the process, they ruined the public's perception of the other 99% of NYU students too.

    Good post and well written.

    .

    .

    .

  • I don't think you guys understand what they're fighting for.

Free market capitalism? Whats wrong in the consumer attempting to reassure they have consumer rights? They payed to get in to this university, they want to make sure its going to their education.

You pay for a sandwich, you assume to get a sandwich worth what you paid, and in what they advertised what the sandwich would be.

You pay taxes for government services, and assume it goes to those services, not corrupt politicians.

    Same thing

  • @frenchy - they're not fighting for anything. Their grandfathers did the fighting in World War 2 so they could have a better life, and now they are squandering the opportunity of a lifetime by being whiny spoiled brats.

  • Dont @me, this isn't twitter, just hit the reply button to the right.

Their grandfathers fought against the threat of Nazis, Nazis who were against student protests and urban riots because of the possibility of liberty. What is happening here isn't on that level, but is the same formula, just switch Nazis with corrupt businessmen.

Also, if you would look at the argument and analogy i gave, you would see that they aren't spoiled, they're doing what a responsible free capitalist would do.

  • So after you re-read my argument, go ahead and rebuttal it, instead of going off topic and calling names.

Also, are you trying to argue that since we aren't against Nazis, we should just accept lesser evils? That is the exact argument the Nazis used (give up liberties for safety), the Tories used against the patriots (give up independence for safety and tradition), and what racists used during the civil rights movements (accept separate but "equal").

  • I know my own grand father and uncles, many who served the 422nd during WWII, who faced white supremacists who told them to "know your place", that they should be grateful for what they had, who instead fought for more, because even though they had more than what others in the world did not, they recognized injustice for injustice, regardless of color, time, or place, and they would be ashamed of me if i did not fight for what i saw as right, and proud of these students who fight corruption.

  • @frenchy036 you have point, but i don't think its justice these kids are "fighting" for. their complaining its expensive. Its NYU, its in new york, and if all they want to do is get a degree to get a better job than they should go to a cheaper college. its not like taxes, they don;t have a right to demand where the money the've voluntarily placed to the school has went

  • @frenchy036 unlike taxes, money towards a university is voluntary, when i buy a pack of cheap ass cokies from the dollar tree i know the cokies less than half of what it took to make them. should i demand that i pay only what the "quality" of cokies were. its not up to the instatutions to make public, possibly classified information. they students do not have a right to know, its not part of there student contract. you are right in the sence that people should stand for what they think is right

  • @frenchy036 oh and sorry for my spelling

  • @ph33rbenkthankslol

    dont worry about it lol

thats the whole point though is changing this contract

and id be careful when you argue that these students dont have the "right" to know certain information. remember the food and drugs act? apparently before that, ceo's and business men were arguing that we the consumers didnt have "the right" to know certain information, and there were dire consequences because of that. your argument sounds similar, doesnt it?

  • @frenchy036 Except those are two completely different situations.

  • @muffinman18

    no, they arent

there are obvious similarities between these two situations that i just pointed out in my last post, and your'e simply going to ignore them

  • @frenchy036 You gave one similarity and it didn't really have anything to do with why it would be helpful, it had more to do about those "corporate big men" not wanting people to know about things.

The foods and drugs act was absolutely needed because people have allergies, want to stay healthy, can't eat a x amount of y, etc etc. Knowing how private companies spend their money won't keep anyone alive or prevent people from having allergies so...

  • @muffinman18

it has plenty to do with what were talking about since its the james madison argument, one of our founding fathers, which is that you allow opportunities to happen and deal with the consequences subjectively as they come.

    notice your arugment

talk about one specific part of my arugment = The foods and drugs act was absolutely needed because people have allergies, etc, etc.

then be vague about your own point = Knowing how private companies spend their money ////

  • @muffinman18

/// while mixing in my own metaphor which has nothing to do with the point in this context

i OBVIOUSLY wasnt bringing up these universities ceo's rights about withholding information because i was upset about someone dying over their allergies

im upset about them withholding information and not willing to think about reform and keep prices up because it we are the consumers and will make a stand if we think its right

its our dollar vote, and fuck off if you think otherwise

  • Actually, more like 50 grand a year... 25 a semester :P.

  • omg i think i see my ta there.....

  • how did this happen in the first place

  • Yay, we've all managed to group together in a confined space. we're so awesome, woohooo!

  • catstevensdoggy seriously some long haired hippie dreadlocked white rasta is screaming at the security guard probably making 20 bucks an hour and taking the subway.

Meanwhile rat haired hippie dude is living it up in downtown Manhattan on his rich parents dime, disrespecting them and all the people working to give him an education. I'll stop now before I start quoting the Bible.

  • The police need to quit playing soft and give a crack the skulls of everyone in that room.

  • I bet Bernie Madoff's grandkids are going to NYU and they would get away with this nonsense just like Bernie Madoff gets to live in his mansion under "house arrest" (lol) even after stealing billions of dollars.

If a poor college kid going to a public college tried this nonsense, they would get beaten, tasered, and shot by the NYPD and the New York Post would praise it. God forbid if some blacks did something like this, they would all be in prison.

NYC is run by rich criminals.

  • Dude I agree. Why weren't they all arrested and thrown in jail for trespassing?

This gives a whole new definition for limousine liberal.

  • Fuck you. Up the ass. Kthxbai

  • They're just campus security guards, and also outnumbered. It's not worth whatever they're being paid to risk getting mobbed. I think it's just damage control by that point.

  • On my campus, the security guards have guns. Not tasers, REAL guns. I'd like to see these neo-Hippies try this kind of shit here.

  • well the wouldn't get shot you fucking idiot, because they weren't attacking......so I would also like to see them try that shit on yur campus cuz the same damn thing would happen

  • Being born into old money turns one into a social burden like the swine who are protesting in this video.

  • Hippie fucktards with too much spare time. The narrator needs a ball bat to the teeth

  • I miss the days when the National Guard would go in shooting

  • So did the cameraman, you can tell he was just itching to be a survivor of a new Kent State.

  • i dont get this.

  • haha, these kids are such losers! where are the topless chicks??

  • I wish the cops wuda beat the shit out these rich cunts

  • This is so embarrassing. *facepalm*

  • I agree, this is healthy normal behavior... no joke.

  • Were are the videos of the female protesters pissing in buckets?

  • These idiots embarrassed NYU.

  • awesome. some of the running around the guards was like a soccer match. :)

  • Now I have to apologize to people that I am an NYU student. Awesome.

  • I don't know what this is about, but I like it. These kids need guns.

  • idiots spitting in the face of their parents and anybodys whos supported them in their entire lives. All these people should be expelled

  • Where's Janet Reno when you need her?

  • NYU is a private, nonsectarian, research university. if the students did not like the policies of the school they should not have applied there.

  • Amen to that!

  • SO TRUE.

  • LOL Fucking zoo

  • Go NYU Students! Stop U.S. investment in Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

  • Sorry, but these people look so retarded. And now since I go to NYU, though I'm not involved in these protests, by association, I look retarded to. So thanks for trashing the reputation of an otherwise good school and disrupting campus life of the large percentage of people who don't agree with these methods in the process.

  • It's called a typographical error, you idiot. It's not confusion - it tends to happen from time to time when you're either typing too fast or when you don't press a key hard enough. Excuse me for not meticulously proof-reading my youtube comment. But you're right in vein with those idiots - pretentious, but when it comes down to it all, whining just to hear their own voice.

  • How much do you even know about the situation? Their causes aren't fighting against segregation, prejudice, etc. Only very few of their demands are reasonable. I have nothing against protest. But their barricade has now not only shut down our dining hall, but potentially the entire building of Kimmel, first off, for a cause that a minority of the students do not support. It's completely disrupting the campus, and even escalated to the point of a riot very early this morning. To say that...

  • ...I'm on the wrong side of history, because I do not support the disruption and inconvenience these people have selfishly caused not only to the NYU administration, but it's student body is absurd. For a proper cause, done the correct way, then I believe in taking action. But in the case of "Take Back NYU", it is uncalled for, and it's hard to take seriously, especially when their so-called tactics include shirtless women.

  • The difference here is the people currently running NYU are the students of the 50s and 60s. They completely understand the need to protest, but this particular protest was in very poor taste. I am a student at NYU in Tisch and I am ashamed of the way the protesters handled the situation. I very little space to write here, but read bethandchanelleshow's comments. They accurately represent many of my feelings and many of my friends'.

  • fucking hipsters

  • Congratulations to the students! Good job getting reinforcements!

    SOLIDARITY WITH TBNYU!

    Long live Palestine!

  • You guys might actually be trying to fix things, but this...this just looks so damn immature. Like a bunch of middle schoolers "THIS WAY THIS WAY" Like it's a game of tag.

    Seriously, wtf.

  • Why go to a university to entirely change its system?

Don't go to NYU if you don't like the way it's run. You knew how NYU was before you attended. Don't attend it if you don't like it.

    Take Back NYU's a joke.

  • Ah, the ol' "love it or leave it" tripe. Couldn't come up with an actually persuasive argument?

  • These fucking idiots need to be expelled. Get these retards out of NYU.

  • oops....at 9pm i actually passed by the Kimmel and saw the guards...but what was going on?

  • A few dozen students busted through cafeteria doors being held shut by

guards in order to reinforce the NYU occupation. Very preliminary

    reports

are that two guards might have gotten hurt.

There is an expectation developing that arrests will begin tonight

    after 1

am, when the administration says it will officially close the building.

I-Witness Video cameras will be on the scene.

  • poor guards... i actually know one of the bunch guarding the door.

  • That's what they get for choosing to be guards.
