Crowded House (or The Crowdies to fans) is a rock group formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia and led by New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn.[1] Finn is widely recognised as the primary songwriter and creative director of the band, having led it through several incarnations, drawing members from New Zealand (his brother, Tim Finn and Eddie Rayner), Australia (Paul Hester, Nick Seymour, Peter Jones and Craig Hooper) and the United States (Mark Hart, and Matt Sherrod
Right around this time MTV had them play a spring break show outside at the beach to a bunch of dazed and drunk college kids. They were really great that day...they probably had a few drinks themselves and were playing as loose and rowdy as I've seen them. It kicked far too much ass for MTV, and they never showed it again. I used to have the whole show on tape, and I lost it. If anybody has it...please post it!
I think that was Spring Break March '87 at Daytona Beach. Wish I could see that performance. They played in Fort Lauderdale shortly therafter, if anyone knows any details on that show would love to hear 'em.
That's funny, b/c I was just watching a version of this song from the recent tour, and was noticing how close it sounds to this version. The synth is the only thing that really dates it. Definitely one of those songs that stands up over time. And vocally - no question they sound the same, if not better, live. Together Alone is my favorite album of theirs but THIS is still of their best songs ever - how can you not be in a good mood when you hear it?? LOVE them!
When Nicky walks over and adjusts Neil's mic you can just sense how much they loved each other. What a band. They were our Beatles, they were so bloody lovely and we were so lucky to have them. I love Split Enz but CH were IT.
Very amazing that their live stuff is as good/polished as their studio versions. They must have worked their asses off to get that comfortable with each other.
caml06, i agree with u. i love this band, i actually just recently got hooked on them after watching don't dream its over on vh1 classic. IMO, these ppl are one of the most underrated bands of all time.

god they rocked! Nick's bass is heard much more in this, and other, live performances, than in the video for this song. FAT BASS, YES!!!

I saw these guys live... they sang this song, and to continue with the thread of them sounding better live...
they certainly did.
no comparison.
