Rockets misfire the most if people stick them into the ground. A tube should guide them into the air. You can always buy pvc pipe and maybe get a bucket of sand and stick the tube into the sand to hold it in place and then shoot your rockets out of there.

If you have Class C mortar tubes, as long as the tube is empty you can use it to light your rockets out of as long as the rocket is bigger than the tube. The top of the rocket with the fuse needs to be sticking out of the tube, then you can just put the rocket directly down into the tube and it will guide it into the air. You can also use the mortar tubes to put the roman candles in and that will hold it in place.

If people wear safety glasses that they sell at sporting goods stores that people use to target shoot with, those will protect your eyes. Leather gloves will also protect your hands from getting burned.

If you have only a grass area to light them on, put a board down for a hard flat surface, then put the firework on there and put the bricks around all sides of the firework. Even on concrete put bricks around all sides of the aerial device. The news or fireworks conventions always talk about someone getting hurt or killed from a aerial display firework tipping over, if they had bricks around all sides of the device it wouldn't tip over.

Just keep a hose or bucket of water outside when you light fireworks. Spray your yard and your house with water, other people should do the same even if they don't light fireworks just to be on the safe side. If you have aerial display fireworks, if they have their own stand or not, always put bricks around all sides to keep the aerial firework stable, this will prevent them from tipping over.

That's a consumer fireworks tip? M-80s, cherry bombs, quartersticks, they aren't even Class C consumer fireworks lol. You can't just walk into a store in the United States and see those things being sold on shelves, the clerk would lose their fireworks buisness and go to prison. Those are banned under federal law. The little firecrackers are class C fireworks legalized by the government and they aren't going to blow up a melon.

still, the information is relevant. Actually, the problem has gotten worse. every day I see my neighbors accidentally leaving lit fireworks by their watermelons and mannequins, and then BOOM.
