it took me FOREVER to find a band like this. i acctually researched for a month before i found these guy's. about 2 years maybe less, i came across this song. and i fell in love. id give anything to see em live but i live in georgia and it'd be a bitch gettin to texas.
@064panik well, many people all over the world want to emigrate to usa, hating their countries... still the differience between countries and governments is negligible
@thebritish25 i hate my government for legit reasons.. we invade areas like the middle east and we dont expect retaliation, which is why we search children for bombs at airports. our modern judicial system has been corrupted to such an extent that its sickening. we look down on homosexuals and anyone who follows any other religion besides Christianity. more people are in prison for possession of marijuana then rapists, murderers, exc. in my personal view my country is the scum of the earth
@064panik Definitely see them live if you ever get the chance. I got to see them here in Dallas last week in a concert venue the size of my backyard. It was truly an experience.
@064panik Brian Jonestown Massacre is another good group to check out. They dont have the grittiness of the Black Angels, but they are a good band with a throwback sound and vibe
@064panik Have you had the opportunity to see them live yet? I have and they were amazing. They didn't do this song, but it was still an awesome show.
@LeatherWolf1984 I agree that that is how our soldiers were treated after the Viet Nam War. However, what they appear to mean is that the Viet Nam War was the First Viet Nam War. The song is really about Iraq and Afghanistan, which they are implying is the 2nd Viet Nam War. And, judging from our successes there (well, at least in Iraq), I think the premise of the song is misguided. It's their viewpoint, though, and takes nothing away from the fact that this is a fantastic band.
@CelticDeathKIA I see it more as using Vietnam as an example of a bleeding war which is what Iraq has become. We have really accomplished very little aside from plummeting a nation into near civil war for little reason. They are basically speaking out against the idea of continuing this war and taking the lives of more young men that really didn't need to be there in the first place. Vietnam is being used as a metaphor not an analogy.
@LeatherWolf1984 alright 1. iraq is over and two where helped them over throw a evil dictator it WAS a war desinated to punish the talaban out of the region and after that we where a securtiy while they stablized there countries goverment until eventually they abused our help so we where like fine SEEYA! and left, the funny thing is that the soidgers that where in iraq are just going to afganastan which is the real shit hole where the real war is...
@mufinbutter Just because one chooses to bury one's head in the sand made out of soothing cable tv/CENTCOM/White house narratives, doesn't mean the war is over. I guess asking an Iraqi who of his family got bombed to bits is beyond your altruism (after all, the whole 'evil dictator' idiocy exists solely so you can feel good about yourself), but ask an American mother who just last week got her boy back in a metal crate where the shooting is. 'New Dawn' works only on vampires.
@mufinbutter I never said Afghanistan wasn't a real war nore did I say that it wasn't serious. In fact that is the one conflict that I feel should have taken priority over Iraq. I don't know what you're reading but the war in Iraq is far from over, were gonna be there until 2014 at the earliest and there was no real Taliban influence in Iraq. We also helped Sadam gain power in the first place, we have a pattern of doing that in that region (Iron in the 1950's is a good example of that).
@CelticDeathKIA How so, I didn't really hear anything in this song that sounded misguided. Many men were basically sent there to die and the ones that returned were treated like scum. There where a large amount of people that didn't care what these guy's saw (the horrors of guerrilla warfare the savage death of friends) they just called them baby killers and spit in there faces.
gives me goosebumps and is so psychedelic i love it. prob my fav song by the black angels even tho it changes all the time lol. Prob my fav band since oasis broke up.
I recommend Philip Caputo's book "A Rumor of War." It tells his experience in Vietnam. Really good book, starts a little slow the first two chapters but picks up in chapter three.
these guys are awesome ive been introducing every one i can to them there like our modern day doors actually sound alot like them in alot of there songs
Fuckin quality band , ma fave song.... saw the band live in the 02 Academy, Glasgow , Scotland....... were amazin, although the crowd were rather quiet, the greatness of the band isn't mainstream (yet) so dont blame n e 1 who was listenin for first time!! Hope the band are back in festival season....met the lead guitarist n he was brand new...told him he should play T in the park...the best festival on the planet!!! think they're up 4 it!! Got his signature on ma passport as a had nae paper..
Nickelback and Creed , Bon Jovi, Rob Thomas, Foo-fighters,JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE !? Gimme a break , your absolutely right, Mr. Chubby..same reason Rage Against the Machine don't get on the radio.
@destroyourselves well,...not on my easy-listening channel it's not...thank you...maybe you're mistaking your cd player for a radio..it's got a little switch on the side...cd/tape/radio..maybe you were thinking you just got lucky and that RATM was a radio staion, "Welcome to WRAT, where we play ratm all day, all year long.."..might want to also check your 'repeat' button..your'e welcome..
@barneygoogled ..right... i don't own or listen to "RATM" so i'm sure that's not the problem. they work for sony. they are on the radio. figure it out.
@destroyourselves so I can have my people get hold of their people through the good people at WSONY? Or Ksony..THAT sounds vietnamese..What I'm really wanting to know is if RATM got anger management treatment would they change their name to whine against the machine?..Can you figure that out for me?..thanks

@cuntpunter35 I loved Alice in Wonderland...R.E.M. had a line about radio listeners, can't remember the name of that tune, had a rapper innit..I think the album was orange..I heard this song from a movie sound-track, think it had Kevin Bacon innit, the movie kinda sucked, but not as bad as the Bacon Brothers Band..no surprise they never made it on the radio..
@helloimtom100 Musta been what Nostradamus was talkin' about when he predicted the rise and fall of western civilization ...he tuned into 21st radio and heard Michael Bolton and Celine Dion..."My ears, they bleed ! Momma mia !"
