  • Never seen this before, damn what an amazing car. Grip, grip and more grip, crazy...

  • Prunes mate

  • I love Australian motor sport now because it's competitive but I liked it back then when it was competitive from a technological point of view. Your all a pack of arseholes! lol.

  • as for v8sc vs r35. If you look at the actual specs and rules, the v8sc is more impressive. boat anchor cast iron push rod motor, live watts linkage rear end, 2wd, tiny slicks considering the size-power of the car, no electonic tricks-stability crap etc. To me the v8sc is more impressive performance wise. Still i miss the GrpA days

  • @cyz44. Berries 34 is a rocket. But still wont be as quick as a v8sc around bathurst. and do you really think it would be able to keep doing it lap after lap. Different cars entirely.

  • i'd like to see mark berry's R34 *with street tyres*...take on todays V8 supertaxis with slicks....its a no brainer who would win

  • The V8 boys are saying todays v8 lap times are so much quicker. No shit, this was 20 years ago. In 1989 the GTR was used as a pace car in the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide. When I saw the R35 as the pace car for Hamilton etc. I had this overwhelming feeling. I just wanted to see it on the track fighting with those v8s. If they ever allowed GTR's to race in this discipline again bye bye v8s. Btw Holden and Ford threatened to look for other means of racing if the turbo's weren't outlawed.

  • This video is awesome and I have no doubt it makes most of the current ATCC fans sick to the stomach with the time that the R32 achieved. Its a shame that the ATCC outlawed these cars along with the RS500 etc as the racing was the best that it has ever been, the turbo era was and still is the high point af the ATCC. These cars were outlawed as they were pulling the pants down on the over weight Aussie manufactured Holdens and Fords big time, hence to why they got banned.

  • Do you have any more qualifying laps for 1991 Bathurst?

  • The BNR32 GTR was a purpose built weapon- designed to deicmate the Group A formula-which it did; It was not a road saloon car been cut/choped/shortened/aero'd & tubed as the current supercars are to become Quick race cars# This was a race going weapon detuned for road use; even gearstick position was well positoned neither Skaife or Richards needed too change it* Hence why the GTR has applied itself well in other motorsport discipline's using an enhnaced/modified GTR RoadCar in the last 20years;

  • That ERA- The GTR was a Monster no other Manufacturer FROM the Globe could compete with- hence why the GTR was ultimatley outlawed in Australian-European & Japanese COMPETITION; Yes the current V8's are 4sec's perlap quicker than this car- however Mark Berry's R34-GTR in time attack spec (no-slick tyres) recorded 318km/h down Conrod in 2009;

    Should his R34 ever be EQUIPPED with Slick Tyres and suspension tuning for the tyres- I believe this R34 would humble Murphys lap record;

  • In A testing day before Bathurst91, The GTR recorded 299 Km/h down conrod in an official Wheels test comparison between the GRP A VN-SS & GTR. An ultimatley destroyed the VN GRP A SS around Bathurst and repeated the effort in 92 in Handicapped form against the 93 spec VP raced by HRT & Mobil Team; As Skaife-Richards & Gibson said in recent years- The GTR was the most exciting and challenging car they have raced in their careers.

  • 258km/hr up mountain straight and 293km/hr down conrod straight, this is not too far off today's V8 supercars.

    Jim Richards 1992 Winfield nissan skyline race car could do

    0-60km/hr in 1.6 seconds

    0-100km/hr in 3.2 seconds

    and 0-400m in 10.99 seconds @215km/hr.

    How does this car compare with this?

  • Actually The lap record for the race is the 2:08.4651 recorded by Jamie Whincup in his Ford BF Falcon in 2007. 20 years later and they only have 4 seconds on this twin turbo monster. Throw a 34GTR in there with TODAY's technology, and the Commos and Falcons would get devastated.

  • yea thats tru but, the technolgy has far increased since 92 u put a R34 in the race and it would destroy all the v8s

  • this skyline makes around the same as todays V8s, but it pisses me off how people say that the 91/92 bathurst GTRs would blow away todays V8s. the fastest this thing could do was a 2:12! in qualifying!

    todays V8s are cruising in the 2:09s!!! in the race!!!!

  • @2GoRightGoHolden i absolutely agree with you. it annoys me when people say that because its completely untrue. BUT, in saying that, we have to remember this lap happened nearly 20 years ago. The fact is, it took well over a decade of development and engineering to get the v8s to the 2.09 cruising pace they do today. and the time difference between the nissan and v8s today on other tracks are alot smaller, some just over 1s difference. just goes to show the nissan was well ahead of its time.

  • @2GoRightGoHolden I think people are talking in relative terms, look at this gt-r, it has no aero kit, and the technology is not the same as todays v8's. I guess if you upspec an r35, slap on todays technology to it then you will see the v8s get an ass whipping. As much as I like the v8s.

  • @ktayor1 yeh it is amazing if you look at the v8 supercar specs and a road going r35 gtr there 0-100 times are identicle the Gtr gets it by a tenth or a second and it weight 400 kilos more which is just embaracing

  • @ktayor1 nah i reckon a tuned v8 supercar would kill a r35 gtr. this was back in the day. not now. but i shows how little common sense people like you have

  • @Basketball470 Lol Wrong, dream on dude! Dream on! A tuned race GT-R would say goodbye to a V8 supercar anyday, shows how stupid ppl like you are!

  • @ktayor1 oi dick head u said a stock one before now ur changing ur mind.. yeh good one wanker shows how many inbred so called enthusiasts there are like u out there. suck a fat vainy one buddy

  • @Basketball470 upsec" yeh i know heaps my name is ktaylor1 im going to use fancy words while i take one up my loose arsehole

  • @Basketball470 Hey fuck pig, where the fuck does it say stock you stupid cunt in my statement aye, fuckin moron, learn to read properly you retard before you put your fuckin dumbass comments on here. What a fucking moron!

  • @ktayor1 pin dick

  • @Basketball470 both you and the other guy are idiots, the v8 supercar series is designed to be so close and competitive that the cars are made to be as close as possible to each other in performance. if the R-35 was ever to come back into the sport it would be so far modified from the original you couldnt call it a nissan. however a R-35 GT1, very close in design with a v8 FR design and 600hp would likely be just slower than a v8 supercar.

  • @dmied1 even ur wrong buddy get a dick in ur arse and apprenicecsds

  • @Basketball470 oh yeah i can see your supporting evidence is just bursting out of your comment

  • @dmied1 do you have a broomstick up your arse, or are you just naturally paranoid/ scared/ insecure/ uptight?

  • @Basketball470 once again any proof of your statement is just overwhelming me and i would support bringing back the ATCC with tons of vehicles, just the current regulations mean that any new car would be subject to the current rules and regulations regarding what the car is and isn't allowed to race with. For instance both holdens and fords bodies are different dimensions to their road going counterparts and a skyline would be subjected to the same treatment. so no i'm not scared, i'm logical

  • @ktayor1 Take a look at my other comment and have a look at the R35 GT1 car. that is todays equivalent gt-r racer and it is almost exactly the same in terms of performance, however would likely lose to v8 supercars because it's low carbon fibre bodypieces and sheer width would hamper it around bathurst, even taking the body kit off. it wouldn't flog todays v8 supercar by any means

  • @ktayor1 Uhh, the technology is way ahead of today's V8s >.> No aero packs were allowed back in these days, only what was on the stock car.

  • 258kmh going up Mountain Straight. That's faster than most of the privateer Commodore drivers were doing down Conrod.

  • He says it all 2 and a half minutes in..

    "By far the fastest Group A touring car you will *ever* see on Mt. Panorama."

  • Cheers for this upload^ I have been searching for this lap for some time..^
