Slight correction here, but the most recent demographics show Sweden only has a 23% Atheist rate. To the best of my knowledge, no country in history has ever been recorded to have an 85% Atheist rate, but maybe you were just exaggerating for the point of emphasis, I don't know.

What are you basing your numbers on? This is incorrect. Sweden( I live there myself) is very much so an atheist country. No were in the media, politics or school do you ever hear the mentioning of God. Even though there might exist believers in Sweden of many sorts, they are certainly not any way or form running the machinery of the swedish society. So his thesis still holds. Sweden is a very functioning society without the help of an all-knowing deity.

I'm a member of dennets little atheist union. I thought it would be a little more enlightening. I don't think Dennet is that bright*. You guys think Dennet is making progress in understanding how the mind works? I haven't heard him propound anything original so far. There is a guy named Chris Michael Langan. He is Actually working on a model for how the mind works. He supposedly has an IQ of 210 to 195 or so. Not that I respect claims to fame, but his work is actually good.

It's sort of like a TV. There are a set amount of pixels on a given TV. Those pixels have a set possible amount of combinations. There is* a finite number for how many pictures can be displayed on a TV. Which means that if you had memory of all possible instances of those combinations in your head. There is nothing real or imagined which you haven't seen before. Given that the vast majority of combinations would involve some form of static, what system would only print coherent pictures?

He mostly talks about a possible system that could be developed which would find the box that human information resides in, and make predictions about the information available to find new information which is not fallacious. This is possible because information is true or false depending on verifiability of other known facts. Seeing that the proposed system could account for such facts, it would come up with answers that have the integrity of the facts used.

Of course it isn't a COMPLETE account of Dennett's information, but that does not make it inaccurate. I have seen him talk on the subject at different lengths, and this is all very consistent.
