hey just wondering is that mx5 standard, nd im guessing its a MK1?(can just sorta tell)cos my MK1 is standard and by the book it puts out 126HP and if its a eunos(witch mine is) there a bit more cos eunos hav extractors nd are tweaked a bit, so just wondering why yours is only 110hp, or were u just guessing lol

Uk spec about 115 standard (I also have a Eunos so 15 by the book), The book is based upon a new car. Engines lose power with age so 20yrs take off about bhp.

Actually most Mk1 UK and Jap specs Rolling road at 105bhp.

No crash helmet requirement. On none racing days the ring is simply a "normal" piece of German road which you pay a small fee to run on!

It's one way with no speed limits and you must follow normal traffic laws so fx. no overtaking on the right. Sometimes you'll meet a lot of very fast cars and bikes and others times you may find a bus full of tourists.

A plus to the Ring being public road is that unlike on a race track a normal car insurance should cover you if something goes wrong.

taking my mx5 there next month. do you really need to wear a helmet ? i read this on some website but clarkson doesnt wear one on top gear when they go to the ring ??

Thanks. The MX-5 varies hugely depending on your geometry, I've now spent about 2 years tweaking it! It's an great track for the '5 though, lots of down hill and fast corners!

Yea, with 2 and a half times the power up a hill! Still... caught him by the end of the lap though, and I was on a sighting lap to warm the car up, so I reckon that's good enough for me. :)

Amazing, how hard an engine with just 110 bhp has to work uphill all the way from Breidscheid to Hohe Acht. Especially in Kesselchen I've never noticed before that it is going so much uphill.
