  • damned! where's Alexis??

  • Have to love the genius of Bill Conti for theme songs...recycled Dynasty for North and South mini series!

  • i just heard this theme for the first time a few minutes ago. is it a good series?

  • They'd never spend 1:31 on a TV theme opening now! Missing the trumpets and Alexis, but still excellent

  • Nothing can beat the opening theme song of Dynasty..

  • i remember this show when i was still a young gay boy (age 5 or 6) in the Philippines...

  • i watched this as a kid when it came on tv but i didnt really get it cause i was way too young. but gotta love those 80s soaps

  • wHERE IS THAT TRUMPET SOLO @@????

  • i used to watch this show:)

  • Thumps up if you came here because of Family Guy

  • I came here because of Family guy

  • one of the worst melodies ever, yuk!

  • The trumpet that does main melody cuts in and out

  • "Obscure" trivia about "Obscure" Al Corley -- In Season One of Dynasty, he was Blake Carrington's gay son. In real life, he was a former Studio 54 employee...

  • @sluggoII I'd love to have been a fly on the wall...Steve Rubell was known to do some weird things with his male employees.

  • Does anybody spots the leg of the helicopter as it flies over the Carrington mansion 0:20... It did kinda bug me from years ago. Hehe.

  • @mmalik OMG! You're right! I've seen this opening 1000s of times and I NEVER noticed that. Good eye!

  • This was the best version of the theme tune IMO, sounded grand without the trumpet

  • Thumbs up if you looked this up because stewie in the episode then there were fewer

  • damn this shows that petrol is the future, im gonna invest on that! great meamorys with this show

  • @anonymousent........ peedi crack already did this shit bacc in 2003. "find us anywhere"

  • Oh my God the memories, I was raised with all the soaps. But, Dinastie and Dallas were my first one it feel like I was almost born with it.

  • uch more subtle and effective than the later versions

  • yes, It bring back memmories love it show so much

  • Like Dallas but without cows.

  • No Alexis, no Dynasty. :-)

  • @Rheinmetall1 Indeed, without Alexis, Dynasty is a kinda boring.

  • @Rheinmetall1 Alexis made Dynasty what it was. Without Alexis the show felt like a poor man's Dallas except without the Barnes/Ewing feud.

  • Hmmm ..... looks like i'm gonna have to HIP HOP this theme before Jay Z gets his hands on this !!! .....

  • sounds like left or right channel is down/off.

  • Very amazing, Bill Conti. And I can still feel the magic from "those days". This music is timeless, so full of excitement, hope, beauty and love.

  • come on Brian you know this ... John Forsythe coming down long stairs ... lol

  • Someone is not blowing their own trumpet, here.

  • Blake was kinda of villian in the first season. We must remember, he raped Krystle. But then after he accidentally killed Ted Dinard and got off the hook for that, the writers made Blake into a nice guy as Alexis eplaced him as the villian.

Nevertheless, Blake was a very shrewd businessman and could play just as dirty as Alexis did. However, the difference was that Blake had a conscience and Alexis flat out did not care who she hurt to get whatever she wanted.

  • loved the 80s shows. Thank you very much for post.

  • family guy

  • Even without the trumpet,, it is still classy.

  • how strange it sounds without the trumpet... Something is missing

  • @goldfinge Yeah it is strange, but that's how the theme sounded like in season one. The trumpet started in season two.

  • @goldfinge

I actually like the theme better without the trumpet. This is also the only season to have that long, sweeping opening at the very beginning. Best theme version by far in my opinion. The other versions were too screechy for my liking.

  • @goldfinge

Yeah, it's like it has no bones! Yuck!

  • @goldfinge I'm not sure I'd agree something is missing,at least in the aesthetic sense. The absence of brass in the opening season is conducive to the epuration of the lungs as I inhale the crisp Rocky Mountain air,the heavier brass sounding more solemn in keeping with the business activity becoming more cut-throat as the show advances.

  • i thought it was the saxophone intro the original.... anyway. missed that show...

  • R.I.P JOHN FORSYTHE!

  • This is the AMERICAN DREAM we immigrants long for and desire!

  • Weird to see Dynasty opening credits without Alexis, but Joan Collins didn't join the show until season 2 and the addition of her character was eventually hailed as the main reason the show became a huge success.

  • Sadly, JC also contributed to DYNASTY's demise. Her character hailed all of the campy sequin sh*t. No matter what, THIS version of DYNASTY was what it was was originally envisioned.

  • Well if they had stuck with the way the show was going in season 1 the whole thing probably would have been cancelled soon after. DYNASTY became gigantic all over the world much thanks to entertaining characters like Alexis and her feud with Blake/Krystle.

  • @filmidioten

Dynasty was a character driven, smartly written show in its first season. It started to become more sensationalized in season 2, and disolved completely into camp crap by season 3. But since the average television viewer back then was rather shallow, it's no wonder they preferred the clothes and camp to substance.

  • Ultimately, the premise was greater than the execution.

  • Beautiful early theme.
