I've also said it before and feel obliged to say it again - the sound is nothing like a Deltic or anything else I heard at the time. The horns are poor too. I'm pleased to see others think the same and say so. It also seems a limp excuse to defend the poor horn sound on the ground that nobody would listen to the similarly poor engine sound if the horns were right!
Just saw the question of where to get a prototype Deltic and the reply. I know it's a year late but only a few months ago I bought an NRM prototype Deltic in a wooden presentation box together with an otherwise unissued number early green service Deltic with no yellow warning panels. Though this too was limited the NRM shop still had plenty. Presumably they'll issue another batch in, say, weathered condition when all others have been sold.
Yes, the sound for a deltic is "way off" but if you enjoy the sounds it makes, then thats all that matters. If you could change the horn for the distinctive deltic horn, it would in fact hide the difference in tone of the engine at speed - no one would listen as carefully if the horn were correct.
I'm very impressed by the slow speed running of this deltic. What chip did you use? I have used a standard 12-pin bachmann plug in my nrm deltic (seen in the video on my channel).
Jesus, thats the WORST sound decoder i think ive ever heard! Sounds more like a class 66 than a Deltic. My daughter could do a better impression of a 55!

@DougTeg where can I find an HO scale prototype deltic?Wherecan I find one that is made well but cost a good low price?I tried Ebay.co.uk and they only had N scale none of them were HO scale I also tried
Amozon.co.uk and I still can't connect to the website for the umpteenth time.Do you think I could try the
actual bachmann website since I live in the U.S. and bachmann is an American model train company?
Please ansewer some of my questions if not all of my questions. Thanks in advance,
The announcer is Phil Sayer and I see that he doesn't say "Central Trains" or London Midland", is it for copyright reasons?

Very impressive slow running, but as others have said, the sound is WAY OFF!

Yes, that's most definitely a GM sound - nothing whatsoever like a pair of Napiers! Even the horns sound wrong.

@scriltist The horns is from DEMUs and EMUs. Deltic has simple one horn low tone and one horn high tone.

I'm sorry but thats just funny, have you heard a Deltic??? You could put a recording of a bus on the chip, it would be more accurate!
