  • Geryons' Description 5:45 is simmilar to the Locust of Revelation

  • thank you for the video, it help me so much...thank you again!!!!!

  • Basics laws of the universe we are not god we can't create but we do have the power to mold his domain however, to create one must destroy sadly just us living is a sin so do I ask or forgiveness that I live? Sorry god I lived on earth and decided against dying?!?!?

  • Don't know anyother... Desire itself could be a sin. Pride is the origin of sin it's why lucifer fell from heaven...from pride comes wrath, lust, greed, sloth, envy and gluttony... All sins we commit can fit into one of these... So if happiness=fulfillment=desire achieved=sin committed why are we as humans hardwired to reproduce, have emotions, get tired, havegoals.... In fact why do we desire at all for desire itself is sin. Basics laws of the universe we are not god we can't create but we do have

  • FortunatelyChristian has a good argument but so does jedi01sith and I agree with both of you my personal belief is best understood if I relate him to a king you don't agree with him your exiled or worse. I see him as a tyrant....he does not want you to be happy and he's proof in the form of a type of am equation: happiness comes from fulfillment, to achieve fulfillment one need a desire to fulfill. All desire is derived from an earthly(physical or material etc) plane becasue we as humans don't

  • nicely done!

  • the quote at 3:10 actually describes circles 6 though 9.

  • Diablo 2 is classic!

  • listen benigni and u will understand...

  • if i am dante and i walk in the dark woods and bring some lantern to see where i am going at??

  • Dinanzi a me non fuor cose create

se non etterne, e io etterno duro.

    Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate'.

  • ABANDON HOPE ALL YEE WHO ENTER HERE.....GULP!

  • nice!

  • Ahh "Hell", who needs law and order when you can terrify the uneducated masses into being good little christians.

  • @jedi01sith If anything, you would like hell. Theologically, expressed by the allegorical stories in Dante's work, many of the people in hell understand why they are there and accept it as their fate. Hell is not only a punishment for the wicked, but more so, it is a fulfillment of their deepest desire, to be 100% apart from God. On Earth, you have the choice, you have heard the mention of his name, and I'm sure you've even used his name every so often. Upon death, you have made your decision.

  • @fortunatelychristian Ha ok. So I want to be in hell so that's why I'm an atheist? It couldn't possibly be anything to do with just how illogical the whole concept of a divine being really is. Or a complete lack of proof supporting such a case. IF god is going to punish me in a sea of fire purely for following my own instincts which supposedly he/she/it gave me, then what does that say about god? It's like giving a child a gun, telling him to pull the trigger and then punishing him when he does.

  • @fortunatelychristian JED FOR A SAY TO YOU:

    FILOSOFEM:

You speak well my friend, nevertheless you must not mix or confuse, one single lifetime for the whole cycle, for it is here that the key resides...

    ORDOADCHAO

  • Some of the text was difficult to read, but overall this was very well done. I'll have to go watch the next two--I hope you also put up Purgatorio and Paradiso.

  • Doré's illustration of Inferno is unspeakable.

  • @emmthreejonny thank you so much! i'm doing a project on Inferno and you've helped loads!

  • i'd like to know, in Dante's original writing, did he go through the nine circles of hell just to find Beatrice?

  • Well i better stop doing what im doing

  • What do u think happens after we die?

  • @sluggo06 worms make a party with your corpse

  • 9:26 Are those the Nephilim?

  • what soundtracks did you use?

  • @DaddyWalrusguy I think its from Diablo 2. Very appropriate. hahaha.

  • Yes it is a game and no he did not actually go to hell. This is his vision or perspective on hell.

  • help!

  • Who put this music t this? It is absolutely amazing!

  • I wish this poem will be a movie some day..

  • @kepkepish well, it's a game now in psp

  • as a highschool student, i've heard time and time again that Dante's divine comedy was one of the greatest works of literature because it was so deep. can you please elaborate on what exactly dante is doing with this poem?

  • If you hord trash, your being good to the environment though.

  • The blood though.

  • I would bow down to you, for this is breathtaking.

Diablo II music plus Dante's magnificent poem is just..TOO AMAZING.

  • you've skipped some of the important parts of the book.

  • That's back then.

We deal with cell phones giving us brain tumors

  • The music is a little creepy.

  • bleh.....la grammatica inglese...non trasmette bene la divina commedia... W l'italiano hahaa

  • you are right because in limbo no one is tortured but only taken across the Charon river to king Minos to be judged to which circle they will be in for all eternity

  • @PlastilinoKnigth to answer your question souls that end up in purgatory are those that sinned but prayed for forgiveness for those sins and souls that go to heaven are ones that are for the fellow angels in the rebellion of hell don't take my word for it I'm trying to say what I know so far

  • What kind's of soul oes to purgatory and heaven? some one would like to answer me?

  • in purgatory souls are cleansed from sins that are not bad enough to go to hell so pretty much every soul will go to purgatory and not many souls go straight to heaven for you have to be perfect like mary and not sin probably

  • Interesting videographic experiment. I'm working too on association between Dante's poem and Dorè's pictures.

  • For those of you who are new to Dante, I recommend the John Ciardi translation. It is available in paperback, has thorough introductions for each canto, and features copious, helpful footnotes. It does not have the Dore illustrations, however.

  • So are you like tortured in Limbo is it like all fiery and flames because I read that Limbo is a giant green field and supposedly you can be saved and sent to heaven even when in Limbo?

  • limbo is for the poeple that have not sinned, however they didnt believe in the lord. Dantre describes being burned as if they were in the city of dis yet i think dis is worst

  • anyone else think this music is used in Diablo 2?

  • @jmcfar8947 definetley

  • is this what the next dante's inferno will be...?

  • very interesting

  • I f I buy the book ,will the images will be in the book?I want them in it!

Please help me with this question!!

  • @BACKDRAFT2009 images are made by Gustave Doré, I think you have to look for a specific book with his illustrations. His illustrated Divine Comedy is a piece of art.

  • it depends what book you get...my books only picture is the map layout of hell and its circles....

  • does anyone know where I can read the whole divine comedy. I want to read it before I get that game coming out.

  • you can buy it from barnes and noble

  • thanks but I found a link to a website where I can read the whole thing. Its in the comment section on my channel. Enjoy.

  • Very nice Video!!

Does anyone know the song that's being used?

  • does any1 know where i can get the book

  • Barnes & Noble @ the mall.

  • did dante alligeirri actually went to hell or was that his imagination?

  • some thought that it was him loosing his mind, a metaphore .....

  • It was a poem he wrote. Heavily inspired by the political climate at the time and an experience with unrequited love. Inferno and Purgatory criticizes the social issues that surrounded him. Paradiso was Dante's personal "view". A theology and his understanding of Christianity. It criticizes and questions the nature of people, society, religious and non-religious leaders. In a way the book was a moral awakening on medieval world plunge in chaos.

  • @emmthreejonny Stupid theists.

  • @emmthreejonny It'sa really good book even compared to today's novels and NDE stories.

  • @jsmithbab6 He was describing the here and now and the infra dimension that one can be sent to that are said to be real. Allegories yes Allegories No.

  • I just love 16th century styled woodcuts. They're the perfect medium for illustrating the bleak and dismal.

  • thats gustave dore fool lol jks but yeh mad artist

  • it was good i didnt had to read the book ....it was my homework but now 10 minutes and all done cool....xD

  • Even though this is just catholic propaganda, I loved the imagery and rhetoric.

  • i think dante's vision is uncertain but i do think that he was writing and was actually a message to catholics to show them how can they be harm by the pope

  • I guess we are all going to limbo ILL BRING THE BEER!

  • hahahahahaha sweet i got vodka

  • Don't forget the munchies hahahaha

  • i don't understand.. this vid says limbo is part of hell but wouldn't it be like purgatory where u wait in the middle...aka limbo?

  • Limbo are people with out any decisions or not baptized... they are located in the first circle...

  • cool, thx mate, you really helped me out

  • Redemption in Limbo...So whoever goes to Limbo can get saved?

  • I read about the Limbo, but I still don't get it...is it like place between heaven and hell or something???

  • Limbo is a ring in hell. where people go when they have sinned without knowig..

    those who have sinned unitensionaly

  • @jokerisnomak you our correct thats what it is between heaven and hell no place to call home

  • @jokerisnomak it is a part of pergatory

  • very intense and terrifying. interesting too

  • At 7:02 the man nailed to the ground is Caiaphas. He should be in the hypocrites circle.

BTW, this is a great post. Very well done!

  • I thought that was pontius pilate.

  • oh, that makes sense. thanks.

  • I have a question if any may answer. that hypocrites were walking wearing gold glided lead coats, but most other levels of hell fit there lifestyle. how does the lead cloak fit?

  • very creepy

  • DIABLO

  • Hey I think you forgot the wood of suicide I think people are hanged by tree branches and they aren't allowed to talk unless given permission by the enforcer demon which for that their flesh is bitten.

  • its funny that in hell every1 is fit and muscular lol by the way great video and i cant believe that this music came from a game it sounds so epic but why should i be surprised god of war and halo have unbelievable scores

  • what game is this from... i recognize it i think from a game along time ago but i cant put my finger on it.

  • you slacker.. read the poem dont just rely on wikipedia! great video, you have to READ the poem to get the slideshow..great job

  • I'm currently reading it. Very nice video.

  • Can someone tell me pls who is Brunetto Latini pls :)

  • very creepy...

  • thx for the video, i want to read this book :D

  • I see that Uelmen isn't on board with Diablo III. After seeing video of the gameplay, I think he is desperately needed.

For those interested in music explicitly inspired by Dante: Liszt wrote two powerful works evoking the Inferno: Dante Sonata (for solo piano) and Dante Symphony.

Tchaikovsky wrote a symphonic poem entitled "Francesca di Rimini" and Rachmaninov a one-act opera of the same name.

Poul Ruders also composed a Dante Sonata in a post-modernist style (very dissonant/atonal).

  • Excellently done. As a music student and one-time player of the PC game Diablo, I must comment on your perfect choice of tracks from Diablo II. Uelmen's work should be respected and considered a potent corpus detached from the hack-and-slash Diablo game. I think he would be honored to have his music accompanying Dore's etchings.

  • Thank you for this great piece of work! It's fantastic!

  • bai very nice bai!

how did you get that program!? it has like a retro effect nice
