The swim at Vineman was the easiest swim course I have done in any TRI race. Basically zero current, warm water, shallow enough for those that need a break if you are uncomfortable. Def easier than ocean swim with surf or surge in a basin.
It was brutal the second time. My shifter cable broke for my front derailer and I was stuck in my big gear. I seriously had a cadence of about 35-40 going up that hill. Man was it hot also, high of 92. Way to go on the 70.3! This year i'll try Florida Ironman.
Congrats on finishing an Ironman. One question for you, how bad is the swim? I mean I hope to do an Ironman one day and all the things I've heard about the swim scare me. So I was just wondering how it went for you.
The swim is by far the easiest part of an IronMan. Don,t listen to anything else. Swimming is all technique, well not all but primarily technique at least. If you are having troubles with the swim I recommend a book called Total Immersion Swimming by Terry Laughlin, you can pick it up at Barns & Noble or anyplace on line. TI (Total Immersion) also has weekend camps that are great, they do run around $400 though. Let me know f you have any other questions. I am actually a tri-coach as well.

Ok, I chatted with you a year or so ago... I just signed up for Vineman full 2010!
Done a bunch of 70.3, including Vineman, thought I would do my first full there. Your video is sweet! Advice?

Could not agree more. If the swim is your limiter but you are ready for an IM the Vineman is a great choice.

Nice.... I did the 70.3 1 week earlier. Did you have to do chalk hill 2x?
