  • do you think you can give me the recipe for this beer? its a great beer

  • You don't get hotside oxidation if you use Maris Otter. Nice viddy, thanks.

  • care to share the recipe?

  • wifeys got a nice ass

  • I do all-grain now, but one thing I learned from using DME is that it's a bit easier to mix it into your water long before it boils. Right after your 30 min. steep of specialty grains, or if no steeping is done just put the DME in cold, then rise up to boil. Mixes more easily.

  • I waited for years to get a chance to try DFH 60 min IPA. I was kinda bummed when I tasted it, way to sweet for my taste. The ABV was impressive and other than the sweetness I could see why people like it. The Hop schedule is obviously great. I have a hard time finding a better IPA than Sierra Nevada's IMHO.... Great video!!

  • nice video. thinking of doing this after my franziskaner heffeweissen clone. I'm not sure whether to call you Eric Bana or Ron Livingston....

  • wow the mercury program...nice taste!!! great beer!!!!!

  • What dme did u use? and what yeast did u use?

  • What dme did u use? and what yeast did u use?

  • Hey man, great video... where did you get your clone recipe from... i would really like to move from the coopers brand... great brand... this just looks fun

  • Hey Sam, just wondering,How much is your electric bill every month

  • I just had a dogfish head 60 today, couldn't nail the taste. How did you get the recipe?

  • It's such a shame how watching a couple of friends brew great beer together is followed with strangers arguing in the comment section.

Thanks for sharing your vid. Cheers from Austin.

  • If you transfer this recipe over to all-grain it comes out so muh better give it a try

  • don't put this in a pilsner glass asshole.

  • @filseyphill u mad?

  • @filseyphill yea but why u mad tho

  • @Meatball358 Not mad. Just passing on some drunken advice.

  • Hops should not be boiled for more than 60 minutes. Fewer than 60 minutes, yes, but that's for aromatics. Maximum isomerization happens at 60 minutes.

  • @BeeRich33 Mmmm...gotta disagree. I'm guessing you've never had dog fish head's 90 minute ipa.

  • @amanofsoup I've had it. I'm a professional brewer/biochemist. Boiling > 60 minutes brings in bad stuff. They just don't know it.

  • @BeeRich33

    god has spoken

  • @amanofsoup You silly twat, chemistry has. Get some proper education and you'll know why. Or let me guess...you have larger insight into international expertise? Gotta love it when amateurs dictate.

  • @BeeRich33 I don't challenge chemistry. You may even be right about the time limit for boiling hops, but that makes you no less pretentious for listing your credentials on youtube. Nobody cares BeeRich33...nobody cares.

  • @amanofsoup LOL it was in light of people telling me I was wrong. People should care about the right information from people that know. Qualify opinion. And your comment is the ultimate in ignorant. And I don't give a flying.

  • @BeeRich33 this is the part where you save your breath. I try to explain this to my coworkers about knocking out on time and even these folks argue.

  • @filseyphill A place such as Youtube is usually where you're going to get feedback on videos. If they don't want it nor like it, then they're in the wrong place.

  • @BeeRich33 agreed absolutely.

  • I think if you would of used leaf hops it would of been easier to spread the hopping out throughout the hopping process...but it seems like it turned out amazing. I'm gonna have to try this soon.

  • yeh, brewing to mer program. word word

  • I did this recipe a few weeks ago. I got it from BYO's 150 classic clone recipe in which DFH submitted the recipe. The hop schedule is laid out a little easier there:

.70 oz Warrior from 60-35 minutes.

.28 oz Simcoe from 35-25 minutes.

.70 oz Amarillo from 25-0 minutes

    .70 oz Amarillo at whirlpool.

  • Dogfish Head already makes a 75 Minute IPA. I believe its a blend of the 60 and 90 minute brews, with some extra dry hopping.

  • Actually its brewed in a cask, they call it "johnny cask". it's only available in thier brew pub. I had some yesterday, I couldn't take any home though because the only thing they use to keep it carbonated is maple syrup, therefore they had to punp it into the glass. Quite tasty though

  • What tunes do you have playing in the background? Sounded like it would have been off the same cd, throughout the vid. Good brew, and good tunes... cheers fella!

  • @sh0ten Mercury Program

  • I have brewed many batches of DFH, I call mine DFH 75. I follow a different Hop schedule than this...

    60 Minutes 1oz Warrior

35 Minutes (Exhausted the Warriror) .75oz Amarillo & .75oz Simcoe added until end of boil.

Irish Moss with 15 minutes left in the boil then of course Dry Hop for 7 days with 1oz Amarillo and .5oz Simcoe

  • where do you go to get your supplies? I live in Tyler TX, so any time I want to brew it's an ordeal

  • Suprised you didn't end up with any DMS in the beer with you covering it during the boil.

  • Hmm I never realized this was an issue until now. I just read up on DMS and boiling. I've always boiled it mostly covered like you see in the video. However, the beer tasted great. I have a couple other kegs of different brews that I'm still drinking... They taste good but when I get home tonight I'll sample them and see if I can detect a DMS smell on them if I'm looking for it.

  • I've heard the same thing...just for safety's sake, I'd advise to err on the side of caution and leave your boil uncovered.

  • be careful whirlpooling that agressively when the wort is still hot to avoid negative oxidation effects

  • Yeah I didn't think about that. However that's exactly what Caglione called for in his recipe, and it came out tasting just like the real thing... maybe the DFH IPA depends on a little oxidation at the end.

  • @jjsteffes You've got to REALLY beat the hell out of it to end up with HSA - like intentional whisk levels. Normal stirring won't really do too much.

  • in the 90 min. ipa hops are added for 90 min. instead of 60.

  • I would expect that there is some additional malt as well.

  • what's the difference between the 60 minute and the 90 minute, i like the 60 minute much more
