@mcmchugh99 Why? The Professors told the students the National Guard had no bullets in their guns, which led the students to believe that they wouldn't get shot if they threw rocks at the guardsmen and burned down the College ROTC building.
Both parties are guilty, but the students and professors are more guilty then the Guardsmen.
I support the guards getting rid of the dirty hippys.I live in Columbus. my city support my America proud of it and the troops are pro bush, Ohio national guard. I speak out for my town. Let Michigan have Cleveland and Kent. You hippies ever come my town, even Easton Mall we have dress code to keep you libs out. Mall security are strict as airport before 2000. I'm Proud of my city, the highest Germain ancestry in my country. Akron and Cleveland full of pollocks and dummcruds.
@gobuckeyecolumbusoh why? the majority of those that were shot weren't even protestors, just students trying to get to class. Who cares if anyone was protesting? They were given that right. They weren't being violent, or hurting anyone. Why did their dissent warrant their murders, to you?
@animalpins They were being violent. Burning buildings, cutting fire houses, general vandalism. Not saying shooting was justified, just pointing out facts.
@ArmedPoverty Wrong!!! That is what the owned media told you!! Stop believing what the neocon media says. The students were nowhere near the building at Kent State that was set afire. Nixon had his goons all over that campus setting up this whole thing for a showdown to make him look less like a crook. Didn't work did it! Same goons as Watergate!
@revhowardgoss They were their to change american history for the better, they were couragous and they were heroes, and guess what in the end they won, they won over people like you.
@THEBURNINGTIGERS Let me tell you something, champ. When you succeed in tearing down morality, and making our country a cesspool of narcissism, getting a free ride while somebody else pays the bills, you may think you won, but in the end everybody is worse off. There comes a time when you have to leave your teenage years behind and realize there are more important things in life than gratifying your own selfish desires. @revhowardgoss How were the protestors in any way narcisistic? They are willing to sacrifice themselvs for something greater then themselves. I don't think I would have that kind of courage, I would be willing to fight for what I believe but would not sacrifice myfelf, I would have have cleared out right when the guard showed up.
@THEBURNINGTIGERS I grew up around hippie punks just like those. The ONLY thing motivating them was selfishness. The desire to have personal pleasure without regard to consequences or responsibility. No submission to authority of ANY kind. The world does not, can not function that way. Impossible. Immaturity describes them perfectly. You can bet they didn't plan on giving their life. Don't try making them sound noble. They were not.
@revhowardgoss Hi I grew up surounded by people who subcribe to the same shit as you, kill a commie for jesus. I grew up around people who never questioned authority, be it religous or political, and I have seen how bad it can get, i've seen raw unquestioning power weilded by capricious leaders who only care about themselves.....
The protestors were lucky to be shot though, far better to die in the twilight of freedom than live to see the morning of tyranny. Look around you, this country is more of a closed society than it was fifty years ago. Though the media seems to be able to show more skin and lesbian kissing political analysis is for more sanitized then it was during the 60’s or even fifties. I turn of CNN and I see a US soldier with the flu, I watch a foreign station and I see people being blow in half.
@m34t34t3r If they didnt feel threatened why would they fire. For fun? An illegal shooting will court marshal you there not going to risk there ass's just to kill some worthless protesters.
The "unarmed" students were throwing rocks, bottles, chunks of concrete, and cinder blocks, and shouting "KILL ! KILL! KILL!" 58 Guardsmen were wounded that day by thrown objects.
@revhowardgoss If that's true that would imply the NATIONAL GUARD would have no nonlethal means of dealing with rowdy civilians, something the police can accomplish with ease with a few tear gas grenades or rubber bullets. If that's true, what the hell were they doing there in the first place? I know this logic stuff is hard, but you have to try.
@mikek44224 Reports from eyewitnesses say the tear gas was rendered ineffective by the wind, supplies were deleted, and the rioters can be seen on the video picking up the canisters and hurling them back at the Guardsmen. You are the one who is closed minded and illogical.
@revhowardgoss wow, ouch, I got a cut from a bottle and a bruise from a rock, that means I should shoot unarmed students with a rifle... that makes a lot of sense. those 58 guardsmen lived didn't they, the four students who died, I'm sure their families can't say that.
all I can say is a great number of the troops chose to fire outside the kids otherwise this would have been a worse, but some did and 4 died god bless the guard that shot away from the students and those that took aim and fired only god can know
@RonRepublican Fuck the guard and the horse they road in on, fuck the guard and their officers, fuck their moms, fuck their dads, fuck their pet goldfish, and fuck the judge that let them off.
Some facts not recently mentioned:There were no riots at KS,only protests and announcements at the bell;martial law was not in effect;Guardsmen had already been on duty elsewhere for 12to16 hrs w/o break b4 being trucked to KS;it was a warm day, they were in full field uniforms w/gasmasks on(hot, stuffy, limiting vision and hearing),classes were in session, not cancelled, shooting occurred at class break and hundreds of students suddenly and unexpectedly filled the quad.
Ronald Reagan was a great man indeed! A++ The hippies and the freaks were absolutely worthless. The hippies and the freaks did not do a dam thing for America! The hippies and the freaks cost the taxpayers millions of dollars do to the willful and malicious destruction and defacement of public and private property that the hippies and the freaks were responsible for. in addition, millions of dollars were spent on police to protect public and private property from the hippies and freaks!
This is a little off the topic but merits a mention even though Richard Nixon & his men were insensitive to the families of those who lost loved ones on Monday May 4,1970-First Lady Pat Nixon was terribly shaken & disturbed by the news & her heart went out to the families.
I can't for the life of me understand why so many Americans think that the National Guard acted correctly on that day. How in the world can anyone justify the shooting of citizens by their own military? Dictators and despots shoot their own people, evidently America has joined their ranks.
@celticlofts I don't know if most Americans believe the "official" version of these events. I never have. In any case, I have never cared what most people think, since I do my own thinking.
The deaths of the four students was a tragedy, however, let's not romanticize the actions of the anti-war student activists and portray them as victims. They were violent, destructive and refused the orders of the National Guard. They had the opportunity to disperse and didn't. They had a history, prior to the arrival of the National Guard, of violence, destruction and illegal behavior.
"Peace advocates were enraged. They claimed that Nixon was expanding the war, not reducing it as promised. Protests were mounted across America.
At Kent State University, students rioted in protest. The burned down the ROTC building located on campus, and destroyed local property. The governor of Ohio sent the National Guard to maintain order. A state of high tension and confusion hung between the Guard and the students. Several soldiers fired their rifles, leading to deaths of four students
@perrys62008, No where in any of these posts do we see or read of the violent, destructive behavior of the students and the anti-war activists, (many of whom were NOT STUDENTS, BUT WERE BUSSED IN TO THE PROTEST.), that was the catalyst for the National Guard being called out in the first place. All we hear about is the "victim" status of the students. These people eternally want others to be held accountable for their actions, but the activists NEVER WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIRS!
@ryancicocki your an ignorant american fool, Ever heard of the right to peacefully protest?..Also have you heard that two of the four people were just walking to class and not protesting..They were not hippies, They were young school kids, Now little boy log off Youtube, Your mommy made you dinner. you've got a lot to learn. for being 20 years old you are pretty god damn dumb.
@noogey89 Your just mad because America is the best country in the world and we dominate in just about everything. The Guardsmen were cornered one had his arm broken by a brick they fired in self defense and the American public and courts got it right by declaring them innocent. If that was a peaceful protest then Im a 200ft giant lizard.
@ryancicocki you make such an ass of yourself, Really now? America is the best country in the world? Kid I'm not even gonna take you seriously anymore. you can't even debate me Because you come off like a little kid...You have no idea how big of a dick you make yourself look. or should i say how small of a dick you make yourself look like.. Let me guess...You've probably never even left the USA huh? I've been all over the world and I'd never go back to america. It's full of retards like you.
Respond to this video... Ok sure name a better country and I will take you seriously. Besides I like the guard even I they were guilty the worst I want them to have is a couple of days in military prison. But these guys are innocent and were proven innocent and thats that. And in my opinion they got what they deserved except for the guy who was just walking that was sad but shit happens.
It's a subtle point and one that won't make a difference in the long run... They were found "not guilty". That's not the same as being proven "innocent".
@4y6857b same difference. The guardsmen were not guilty which means in a court of law they are innocent. Innocent until proven guilty, there were found not guilty.
@ryancicocki I said that it's a subtle point. One which you apparently can't appreciate.People were killed and injured who were guilty of nothing more than walking out of a classroom b/c class was over. When we,as a country, cop the attitude,"Well, s**t happens"then we have passed into anarchy and you, yes you, are no more safe than the 4 dead.I hope someday you'll appreciate that just b/c you like someone(ie Guardsmen)that can't be reason to let them go free if they've done something wrong.
@4y6857b for the record: I am 60yo, served in the USAF 1970 to 1974, spent one yr in Thailand (1973) servicing B-52s and KC-135 aerial tankers; my Dad was a Seabee in WW2; I have one child(28) who just finished 8 yrs in the Nat'l Guard and another one(21) who is soon to deploy to Afghanistan. My family, for 3 generations now, have served honorably in the defense of this country. From that position I truly encourage you to grow up.Real life is not a video game,my young friend, neither is real death.
@ryancicocki you're either insane or a complete ass. those students were 100 yds away from the guardsmen when they were shot dead. they were a threat to nobody.
I just recently learned about this in my history class this year, and I'm still shocked over the fact that some students who weren't part of the protests got shot anyway. Now THAT is just unbelievable (not in a good way, though).
Kent State was a muck up of Biblical proportions. The NG should have never been issued live ammunition. Shotguns with birdshot or clubs would have been more than sufficient to keep order. (Given how much turmoil was going on at the time, I'm surprised that KS was the only shooting by NG troops.)
1:06 Just FYI Nixon ordered the expansion of the war into Cambodia to clear out sanctuary areas set up by the North Vietnamese. That allowed the U.S. to pull out of South Vietnam eventually.
the amazeing thing is assholes like bill ayers and his ilk that manipulated students across america are the same bunch that write student text books. why do ayers, van dorn, and other key weather underground players keep this tragedy mum as much as the government? you can bet your ass, back in the day, they rejoiced the news of four dead in ohio.
@ArmedPoverty considering the fact that we were not in attendance we cannot judge. The Kent State protests were very violent and the order to fire was given because the guardsmen felt their lives were in danger. These were reservists, not full-time soldiers and being such were not pinpoint marksmen. They were not picking out the students that were headed to class, they were aiming at the protestors.
@victorioustitans2013 Very true. I feel like that should have been something taken into consideration though. I mean if innocent lives are at stake, maybe you shouldn't fire into a crowd of people. I do realize the protests were EXTREMELY violent though.
41st Anniversary, American remains in Perpetual War driven by Crony Capitalism of the War Profiteers. May 5th, 1970 The Kent media reported Students shot guardsmen. 2011 The media has blacked-out all news from Iraq & Afghanistan for 8 years. Yet Libya was covered 24/7 while promoting the attacks against Qaddafi forces
Many of the remarks below are ignorant and uninformed , I was 400 ft from the guardsman in the line of fire , to read the ignorant stupidity posted here about this incident is appalling to me. I just want to say to the person who fell asleep at the short film they show to inform new students about what happened that day ,
It's absolutely unbelievable how some people are trying to blame the Kent State Massacre on the students! One person says "I know national guardsmen who were there and they don't even know about what happened". What about the students and faculty who were there and DID know what happened?!? What about the video of the Massacre? Others creatively interpret facts and blame the students. Four innocent people were murdered, one paralyzed, and eight others wounded and some people blame them? How sad
I know national guardsmen who were there and they don't even know what happened. If you know anything about the military point fire isn't a command it would of been aim fire. Point is just that point meaning don't nothing just fire.
Just what is "point is just that point meaning don't nothing just fire" supposed to mean? Why say "point, fire" if they don't intend to fire? "Point, fire!" means don't fire?!!?? Would you please explain this?
@shandyism Don't lie!!! Fact: Guardsmen WERE struck by thrown objects and were injured, one requiring medical treatment. Fact: Just over a minute prior to the famous 13 seconds of shooting, four shots were fired by unidentified person(s) per audio tape of incident, per Wikipedia Kent State Shooting link. Fact: the nearest wounded student was about 71 feet away, a throwable distance, and he was not the nearest of the students who were by all accounts throwing stuff at guardsmen. RIP
Couldn't those four shots that "were fired by unidentified person(s)" have been fired by guardsmen? They were certainly more likely to have guns than the students! 1) even if that WOUNDED student could throw rocks, since he was already wounded that would make it self-defense. 2) maybe, just maybe, the other students were throwing rocks to protect that student and/or themselves 3) saying students "by all accounts" threw "stuff" at guardsmen just isn't true. Not ALLaccounts
I loved how the Democrats totally shifted the blame to the Republicans. This was Kennedy's and Johnson's war. When Nixon took office, there was already a shitstorm in Vietnam. I don't blame Nixon for Nam. The War in Cambodia was for the purpose of destroying the Ho Chi Minh Trail that had supplied the Vietcong and was still supplying NVA units in the South.
Blaming Nixon for Vietnam because he went in to Cambodia to destroy supply routes that were used years before he took office is ludicrous.
4got, too, funnyman, if u still question Black Panther/Black involvement, read transcripts (if you're capable) of Black KSU Student Assoc. Leaders admonishing fellow Black students to not engage in pprotests. Think they may have known how reactionary Rhoades & his militia could be? Think they just may have been particularly targeted, not just randomly killed& severely ijured. God, u r the mindless, RW sheep that embarrASS the USA.
@3244gorilla For someone who believes a michael moore(EXTREME LEFT WING ACTIVIST) movie, anything you say doesnt hold a drop of water asshole!!!! youre a hippie bitch who follows the leader in your socialist party. so go smoke another joint and continue your non-serving, unpatriotic pussy ass ways bitch!!!!
Chelseaxcollision: Cudos 2 u 4 ur comment 2 funfuckboy. Wut moron doesn't know EITHER - & it's well-documented - is that the Black Panthers(aside being in Oakland, CA at the time)had no involvement during the 4 days of protest, 5/1-4. In fact, look at ANY PHOTO/VIDEO & u won't see many Blacks-if any! No Blacks, no Panthers. Can't blame this one on Eldridge & BobbySeale, arsehole. Blame it on White Tricky Dick & Old Man(& White)Rhoades.
hey funnyasshole-guy: How old are u & have u actually read 1 single book on the 5/1-5/4, 70 protests at KSU? Try reading- if your RW, Palinesque mind can half-coherently accomplish it-"13 Seconds" by James Michener. Listen to Gov. J. Rhoades' press conf. rant day b4 massacre. Makes 2day's political "vitriol" sound like a toddler tantrum. Closest victim was 68 ft away from g-men. No rock/weapon in hand-only middle finger raised. All others killed/wounded were 160-380 feet away. Read b4 u rant, b
@thefunnyguy365 this "bullshit" was people protesting because they believed that being in vietnam was wrong? i don't think anything has ever been less bullshit to be honest, would you not speak out against something you thought was fundamentally, morally and integrally abhorrent?
@shandyism FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS? WTF? They took over campus and BURNED down a campus building. Its also NOT your first amendment right to burn a draft card or throw rocks. Get your facts straight dude.
It's funny how in the riots at Ole' Miss actually had people shooting at the troops and killing civilians and the guard never fired, cause they were doing what was popular. But, when students rally for something that wasn't the popular choice they get shot and then accused of being hooligans.
@mgospeed31 It's people like you that are bringing this country to an end. Freedom to Fascism, and sheeple like you who just gobble up whatever crap they put in your head are enemies of the state, unAmerican robots performing felatio on the corrupt ruling elite. Get well soon.
I don't understand people who shout "Peace" while throwing bricks and petrol bombs. Sorry but if I had a gun and some fucker threw a brick at me I'd end the cunt. I believe in peaceful protest but like those horrible little fucks in Northern Island once you start throwing bricks/bottles/petrol bombs you can't whine if someone returns fire on you.
@GargleMyMayonaze Christ, you said it. I just read a story in my local news that a forensic audiologist isolated what sound like pistol shots shortly before the soldiers opened fire. But you're right..lol...don't bring a brick to a rifle fight.
my teacher told that me some of these students weren't even protesting, some were just walking to classes when they got shot. its just horrible. im 13 years old and i understand that what the military/troops did was wrong, either way you look at it.
I want people to get consequences for what they did to those people at Kent State. If students at Kent State would've unleashed bullets & killed people of the national guard, you can bet they would've sought out who did it and gave them ultimate punishment. But since these murders were commited by the "holier than thou" national guard, nothing was done. And believe me when I say that this is completely insane and unjust. You don't have to be a hippy or a love child to understand this & agree.
@wilsondylanmccartney well if your stupid enough to throw rocks at a man holding an M1 rifle to your face your deserve it. its darwinsim. its like playing with a toaster in the bath tub.
Take out the identifying details (Kent State, Vietnam protest) and the story reads like something from China or any other undemocratic country. The military shot and killed unarmed protesters and bystanders. We don't accept the excuses from Beijing or Tehran about controlling unruly crowds or the safety of the armed military on site, so we in the world would we accept them for murders on a Midwestern college campus?
notice how the teabaggers are allowed to protest without cops busting their heads. It's only when it's anti-war protesters does the government bring out the full brunt of the military or police.
@batvette They had the fucking protest under control, in case you didn't know, through the use of riot control techniques. The mob really didn't do any harm to the guardsmen. Not that much live ammunition is necessary. They have fucking rifles. Not handguns. This is simply the case of national guardsmen wanting a little action. Sickening. Ozzy sucks too and has nothing to do with Kent State. "Hey Sandy" is an actual song about Kent State.
drjohnwillis i am a Marine Corps Sniper and i have a body count of my own that i wish i didnt... these kids in no way deserved what others who we have faced in combat have... these were American kids protesting their legal right... not enemy combatants trying to kill us and harm our way of life in America. You sir are giving military personnel a bad name.
@lcplcalifornia89 Your thoughtful input is appreciated. My feelings about aspects of our military are mixed, but I do thank you for serving our country and wish you a safe journey.
Wish I had been more politically active back then. Would American military forces fire on American protesters today? I fear we may soon be finding out. It is frightening how fast America is falling from its Constitutional values. "Those who are willing to give up liberty for security; will wind up with neither" May God Bless and help the American people.
67 shots in 13 seconds? Who the fuck is firing on the 13th second? I bet the students settled down after one second. It's bad enough that other students commit these acts, but the national guard is supposed to protect the kids they were shooting at. Why did they have that many officers armed with live ammunition anyway?
@wpk5009 " Why did they have that many officers armed with live ammunition anyway?" Because only an idiot pulls out a gun he is not prepared to use? Because if the guard fires to protect from being overrun by a mob and only has blanks, as soon as someone realizes this the guard is toast?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If i had been there, there would have been one hell of a body count. No one every wants to tell the whole story, how they burned the ROTC building how they attacked the NG. hell if this guy lived he's lucky I wasn't there i could have added him to my 32 already killed. Former Army Sniper.
@drjohnwills How many of them were ROTC students walking to class? Or women more than a football field away? Yeah. You're a regular hero. Just like these guardies.
There's no possible way this can be real. Not to say that the shootings weren't a tragedy in themselves but logically, how many authentic military orders do you know that involve the word point and not aim?
what would happen if someone dug up James Rhodes grave and publicly laid it onto the ground for the citizens to see what a horrible rotten person he was.
Rhroads is a FUCKING ASSHOLE!!!!!!! killing unarmed students......Doesn't that piece of shit realize that the families of these students he ORDERED KILLED suffer emotionally???!!!
As a Cambodian American from a younger generation, I am curious and want to know more about what happened at Kent State on May 4, 1970. So I will do some research. Thanks for the video.
how come it couldnt have been the shooter from the grassy knoll that did the real shooting here? wtf, he got away with killing kennedy right? and once you taste blood right........
Sound familiar?....Lets see.Bush gets us in...Iraq...then Obama says I'll get us out vote for me. Then he beefs up troops in Afghanistan, while provoking Iran.
If you were paying any attention to any part of the Obama campaign, he clearly stated that Afghanistan was an important military mission and as president he would continue that mission. Read up a bit and you might know what you're talking about.
@swizzlecheeks Obama does not nor does he need to provoke Iran. Iran stays in a perpetural state of provocation....Just ask the arrested and murdered protesters who spoke out against his high jacking of democracy the way bush tried to do in the USA.
@swizzlecheeks foreign policy is alot more complicated than you think. leave it to the professionals and go back playing your video games. you have no proof, source nor clarification to say "History is repeating itself". Its a broad statement- is it exactly, moderately, etc.
You are too funny. I'm glad you've got it figured out at 23! Just for shits and giggles you might try brushing up on the CFR.....That means the Committee on Foreign Relations. Not exactly a bunch of caring folks there.
@swizzlecheeks provoking Iran? WTF are you talking about. Iran's dictator says the end of the western world is coming... Israel will be destroyed. Don't answer, I already know you're a moron.
The U.S. government has been using subversive measures for decades to change the political interests of nations. Please, research the Shah of Iran and how he rose to power but more importantly, what his agenda was with the Iranian government. You will get a better understanding of why Iran is pissed at so called Democracy and its tactics.
Firstly, this is very sad indeed - my condolences to the families of the students killed that day and best wishes to those wounded. As for the recording itself, surely it is inconclusive? The sound quality, in my opinion, is too poor to make out any definitive words; it could be "point, fire" etc but could just as easily be something else. Also, is there any evidence that this is an actual recording of the incident? You need to prove that in order for this to "stand up in court".
I have no doubt that kenedwards and Progdrummer are out every weekend, shouting with the TBeggars about the tyranny of the Obama administration (after staying mute as mice over Bush's trampling of the Constitution). Who'd have thought that in 21st century America, dictator-lovers like this would still exist? The only liberty ass-clowns like this are fighting for is the liberty to make us all shut up and obey them.

@mikek44224 Reports from eyewitnesses say the tear gas was rendered ineffective by the wind, supplies were deleted, and the rioters can be seen on the video picking up the canisters and hurling them back at the Guardsmen. You are the one who is closed minded and illogical.

I can't for the life of me understand why so many Americans think that the National Guard acted correctly on that day. How in the world can anyone justify the shooting of citizens by their own military? Dictators and despots shoot their own people, evidently America has joined their ranks.

mcmchugh99 1 month ago
The deaths of the four students was a tragedy, however, let's not romanticize the actions of the anti-war student activists and portray them as victims. They were violent, destructive and refused the orders of the National Guard. They had the opportunity to disperse and didn't. They had a history, prior to the arrival of the National Guard, of violence, destruction and illegal behavior.
perrys62008 7 months ago
"Peace advocates were enraged. They claimed that Nixon was expanding the war, not reducing it as promised. Protests were mounted across America.
At Kent State University, students rioted in protest. The burned down the ROTC building located on campus, and destroyed local property. The governor of Ohio sent the National Guard to maintain order. A state of high tension and confusion hung between the Guard and the students. Several soldiers fired their rifles, leading to deaths of four students
perrys62008 7 months ago
@perrys62008, No where in any of these posts do we see or read of the violent, destructive behavior of the students and the anti-war activists, (many of whom were NOT STUDENTS, BUT WERE BUSSED IN TO THE PROTEST.), that was the catalyst for the National Guard being called out in the first place. All we hear about is the "victim" status of the students. These people eternally want others to be held accountable for their actions, but the activists NEVER WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIRS!

And in my opinion they got what they deserved except for the guy who was just walking that was sad but shit happens.
ryancicocki 6 months ago
@ryancicocki "...these guys ...were proven innocent..."
It's a subtle point and one that won't make a difference in the long run... They were found "not guilty". That's not the same as being proven "innocent".
4y6857b 5 months ago
@4y6857b same difference. The guardsmen were not guilty which means in a court of law they are innocent. Innocent until proven guilty, there were found not guilty.
ryancicocki 5 months ago
@ryancicocki I said that it's a subtle point. One which you apparently can't appreciate.People were killed and injured who were guilty of nothing more than walking out of a classroom b/c class was over. When we,as a country, cop the attitude,"Well, s**t happens"then we have passed into anarchy and you, yes you, are no more safe than the 4 dead.I hope someday you'll appreciate that just b/c you like someone(ie Guardsmen)that can't be reason to let them go free if they've done something wrong.

How sad
kaldemvor 9 months ago
I know national guardsmen who were there and they don't even know what happened. If you know anything about the military point fire isn't a command it would of been aim fire. Point is just that point meaning don't nothing just fire.
1952Rickster 9 months ago
@1952Rickster
Just what is "point is just that point meaning don't nothing just fire" supposed to mean? Why say "point, fire" if they don't intend to fire? "Point, fire!" means don't fire?!!?? Would you please explain this?
kaldemvor 9 months ago
@shandyism Don't lie!!! Fact: Guardsmen WERE struck by thrown objects and were injured, one requiring medical treatment. Fact: Just over a minute prior to the famous 13 seconds of shooting, four shots were fired by unidentified person(s) per audio tape of incident, per Wikipedia Kent State Shooting link. Fact: the nearest wounded student was about 71 feet away, a throwable distance, and he was not the nearest of the students who were by all accounts throwing stuff at guardsmen. RIP
skidancin 9 months ago
@skidancin defense

Sickening. The sound quality, in my opinion, is too poor to make out any definitive words; it could be "point, fire" etc but could just as easily be something else. Also, is there any evidence that this is an actual recording of the incident? You need to prove that in order for this to "stand up in court".

I was under the impression that the United States was set up so that people could rebel and overthrow the government if it did stuff like this.
Clearly it's not better than China.

@michael1384alt I would agree that people have the right to overthrow a government, but the government also has rights to defend itself as well

WMDs were all out during ten years 2,000 gooks exterminated per week, 520 weeks in a row.
Not counting the 1945 famine millions of deaths caused by their jolly "allied" bombing of the dams and crops.

I don't know how anyone heard that in the recording. All I could hear was the "Point" part. Before that, it sounds more like, "Take cover."

@Riflemanm16a2 Lots of people heard that order--clearly.
That it is difficult to hear on this recording is irrelevant. THe volley itself id very strong evidence of the order.
