  • Australia....nothing more than a colony with a few nice beaches

  • I have a friend in Brisbane, he says the liberals have taken over, and that's why gas and food prices are skyrocketed. He came to America and had a vacation he could afford.

  • I'm a huge fan of the Chaser and tend to agree with most of what they say. But implying that both the Libs and ALP are as right-wing as the Republicans is pretty bullshit. Although the Republicans have gone even more insane in the last few years.

  • people should come to Australia with a lack of religion because it is not appreciated here

  • the seizure network presents smarter than fox news

  • The private sector will only get a real go when big government fails completely as is happening now.

  • I hate our centrist government. But hey, things could be worse - look at the US!

  • Much as I dislike the majority of the chaser style .. I gotta admit .. this is good satire ...

  • Yes Our Votes Are Actually Counted ... and after our 10 minutes of democracy and freedom ... It's Back To The Dictatorship! :)

  • @Gordanasaurus

What country are you referring to? No dictatorship here. Have a look at the countries at the bottom of the democracy index for a better example of a dictatorship.

  • @Gordanasaurus

What a joke. You are such an alarmist. We live in one of the most democratic nations in the world. Try living in corrupt Africa or North Korea and then come back and tell me how how bad things are here.

  • @ciaobellakate bullshit

  • @russ9356

    What's bullshit?

  • @ciaobellakateThe unnatural hold of big Government with all their taxes&regulations over the people with the shimmy shammy media in bed, is like a dictatorship, no breathing room. Chances of riding this corruption within the voting system or cutting the red tape cord of the nanny state fails as we go down the drain. I say this nanny state is a soft description for a dictatorship where the peoples voices, choices & invention are not given credence, voices who are now being beaten by this militia.

  • I always vote for the Sex Party.

  • @Forserean fuck them. All their votes preference the liberal party

  • lol the prime minister isnt our head of state...

  • @imlay1992 no shit, that was footage of the governor general. I understand your confusion though, all stuffy white haired old men look the same.

  • @orkneymist i do . it rolls of the tounge easy and sounds crisp.. cobba! COBBAAA!! best word

  • Love the Fox News intro! So over dramatic and ridiculous. Thought it was real! lol

  • Man the intro is gold. The same note repeated like 20 times...it's almost not funny because it's so accurate

  • lol chaser ftw

  • Australias culture is made on alcohol .. get the fuck over it and down a beer COBBA! if the gov even considerd raising the price of grog to high the whole political scene would be exterminated

  • @MRbaXR6TurbO Cobba? what the heck is that?

  • @Whiting1289 hahahaha

  • @Whiting1289 It means mate. Havent you ever been to the country? Or seen Galipoli?

  • @anurism1 I live and was born in Australia, my family has been in Australia for 150 years, so yes i am Australian. Just because I did not know what Cobba meant does not mean you can insult me by asking if I have even been here. Call me an idiot but don't call me un-Australian!!!

  • @Whiting1289 I meant the country, like other than the city.

  • "The Liberal Party is like your Republican Party... and the Labor Party is like your Republican Party."

  • @kilrturkey That has never been as true as it is right now :P

  • @kilrturkey Pathetic

  • @kilrturkey And so is the American Democratic Party...

  • When I watched this on TV, I felt that it was devalued without a live audience.

  • Here I am watching a nice video when a bunch of idiots thinking they know shit decide to say Australia isn't a democracy. Sorry bud. It is

  • @midgetroxx

Feed the rich, fuck the poor.

vote for the Christian Right, or vote for the Christian Right, it's your choice!

but don't vote for any other party, they don't have enough money

You're right, Australia is the best example of Democracy:-

Greed, Corrupt Courts, Corrupt Officials, lies feed and continued struggle of the proletariat, Freedom in the form of Internet Filtering, and "Free" Market Monopolies (oh how Telstra and Woolworths control you all).

  • Australia sucks the teat of American Entertainment and Culture, all the while hating and denying anything to do with the U.S, and latching on to the ultra modern, ultra cool stance of hating America.

  • @NewarkWilder1

As an aussie, I totally agree with you. US culture on it's own is actually pretty damn cool (minus the guns), certainly the whole world is trying to emulate it.

Ive hated the US for as long as I can remember, but im specific with it, have absolutely nothing against the people.

But from outside the US, your leaders have totally destroyed your image (panama, honduras, haiti, colombia, iraq 2, afghanistan, vietnam, libya, grenada, philipines, korea, sudan, nicaragua, eritrea etc)

  • 15+ offensive/aggressive invasions since you LED the Nuremberg trials, hung people for the ultimate UN crime (which the US created for the purpose) of aggressive warfare.

If international law had been followed, every president from truman (inclusive) to now would have been executed under YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION (what beautiful irony).

I mean, come on. Think about it, does it make sense that nearly the entire planet hates you and there wouldn't be SOME (not all by any means) reason for it?

  • @MrHowToDoIt

Australia has followed the U.S into EVERY MAJOR CONFLICT. Including Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. So if you're so anti-war why do you vote for the Coalition or even Labor both of those parties want to suck America's dick more than you do.

and at least America has some fucking political diversity, unlike Australia where the two main parties are exactly the same, and The Green's whose only policy's include national fuck a tree day, and stopping global warming.

  • @NewarkWilder1

    people I come across.

As for the greens, I don't vote for them or anyone else, but i DO respect bob brown, not at all because of his policies but because he says, and more importantly ACTS, as though he doesn't give two shits about political correctness, even at the expense of his reputation, a rare quality in a politician, or any public figure for that matter.

I'm 27 and I've never voted. Why? Because I've never enrolled. And been fined 3 times for it.

  • @MrHowToDoIt

Good, you deserve to be fined ;P Both parties are fucked, but acting like a cop out American is going to help is it? I see Australian democracy as in decline thanks the evaporation or destruction of working class consciousness and soldarity. Real democracy is made through strikes and street protest, as these decline the gap between public needs and expectations, and govt. policy grow. Strikes might make a few whinge, but they can force the rich and govt. to do the right thing...

  • @MrHowToDoIt Thats great man. u could have saved on fines by rocking up and getting ticked off then leaving without voting anyway. Takes 2 seconds, go before 8am and theres no line at all.

Sadly kevin Rudd will probably stay on as PM because voting is compulsory, Unless they read the paper/watch the news or pay much attention to politics people probably won't catch on to how much of a useless PM he is. But hes a smart one, since their the people he seemed to target in his last campaign.

  • @NewarkWilder1

But like I said earlier, I don't want to choose the slightly lesser evil.

As for us political diversity, true, they have more for sure, can't deny that. But guess what? Only a multi-millionaire can EVER get a chance at being president. The decisions, then, come from a place that represents all that is common between those who ARE rich (yes I know there are SOME exceptions, but those are statistically insignificant and will be weeded out long before the initial party nomination

  • @NewarkWilder1

in any case). Property rights, lack of common ownership, generally reduced socialist tendencies (and before you other fuckheads bag socialism, I'm talking about medical, legal and education spheres, so don't spitting that mao rhetoric) etc.

In conclusion, if you're a person that thinks australia has it's head up it's ass, strangely enough, we might be coming from different angles, but it seems to me we are actually on the same page for the most part.

  • @NewarkWilder1

And just so you don't think I'm being completely unfair...

Yes, if you didn't help in WWII, we'd all be fucked... RESPECT.

  • @MrHowToDoIt

    1. Regrettably I'm not a national citizen of the greatest Nation on earth, aka the United States of Awesome.

    2. I'm actually a highly irate anti-nationalistic Australian so intent on destroying this country's false sense of self worth, I have stopped at nothing to do it (public burnings of the Australian flag included)

  • @NewarkWilder1

What you've said is absolutely correct.

Australia has no democracy, democracy is not choosing between two piles of shit. Agreed.

Nor does australia, or any so called 'free' country have freedom, I'm nowhere near stupid enough to believe that.

Oh, and just to clear it up, I'm indian and have been told MANY times in australia to go back to my country (even though I've been here since I was 6 (born in canada) and have more of an aussie accent and disposition than most of the

  • @NewarkWilder1

P.S. I AM anti-war, always have been, always will be, I make no apologies for this stance. Can't help it, born vegetarian, atheist and vegan since 9. I wouldn't hurt a fly, killing people is WAY out of the question.

P.P.S '1. Regrettably I'm not a national citizen of the greatest Nation on earth, aka the United States of Awesome. '

I sincerely hope that was sarcasm.

P.P.P.S Excuse the length of this reply, I've got a day off work tomorrow, and I am absolutely drunk as hell.

  • @NewarkWilder1 Australians dont hate the US ya nob.

  • @theheretic999

You're right most Americans have white skin, Australians are more prone to hating those with different skin colors, and people with a sense of self-respect and moral dignity.

    My mistake

  • @theheretic999 That is of cause, why the funeral of a man who murdered three people, was a good hand at peddling meth-amphetamine to 14 year olds on street corners, and was imprisoned for life was Televised, and hailed a 'family man' by the Australian Media? because Australia loves people with the moral dignity of triple murderers and meth dealers? good try, dipshit think again.

  • @NewarkWilder1 Australia loves USA, what are you on about? We are like their most loyal ally.

  • I don’t think that all Australian’s hate American’s. There are things I dislike about America, but I don’t think I hate it. For instance, I have met a bit over 100 Americans, who were my age, so far I have not met an American whom I liked but I am not one to generalise. I have only met 100 out of 300 million Americans, so I am sure that there are Americans who I would like.

But I don’t like American comedy, because I was raised with a lot of political humour, which is rare in America.

  • So wat is wrong with democratics ?

If im not mistaken, democractic is a good thing and i believe australia is as well

  • @trickz323

The mere Suggestion of Australia actually having Democracy is laughable, this is because the majority of voters in Australia feel the most important political issue is "why isn't beer free".

  • @NewarkWilder1

    Hahaha what?

  • @b0b0maj0

Walk into a bottle shop anywhere in Australia, and ask people the most important issue to them. They want Alcohol and Cigarette Tax decreased.

They don't worry about the poor and unfortunate, don't worry about the fact that corrupt CEO's and corrupt Court officials are the ones responsible for society eating itself from the inside out. The best way to deal with real issues in Australia is to completely ignore them and vote for the guy who spends the most money on campaigns.

  • @NewarkWilder1

Of course that's the answer you would get because the issue is in their mind at that moment. I also want those taxes to be decreased but it's not going to influence my vote. What makes you think that any other democratic country is any different, a lot of people will vote on self interest or emotional reasons (such as a perceived immigration problem, the political issues you are referring to or even the personality of the party leader).

  • @b0b0maj0 Actually the mere fact that 1. cigarettes and 2. alcohol are the two leading causes of death in Australia tends to suggest the fact that Alcohol and Smoking are the two main crux of cultural acceptance in Australia.

I vote by WHAT EXACTLY my stance is on the political spectrum, which is why I donkey vote each time, because every political party in this country is mere bull shit. Australia is extreme to extreme, never a middle ground of logic and reason.

  • @NewarkWilder1

Actually unhealthy diets and old age are the leading causes of death. Age is something you can't fix, but why hasn't there been proportionate taxes put on unhealthy foods relative to those two consumables.

I would not consider Aus politics to be extreme except maybe the tiny special interest parties that are only on the ballot at a few seats. Even the Greens, the closest party to a third party in Aus and a moderately socialist party, are not extreme.

  • @b0b0maj0 Old Age is irrelevant, as Old Age is something one can not avoid. However you can considerably lengthen your life by not smoking and not drinking excessively, and the majority of the leading diseases that kill in Australia are linked to both excessive alcoholism and nicotine addiction such as heart disease and stroke.

There already proportionate taxes on every day items(including unhealthy foods), it's called GST, and it serves to tax the poor and feed the rich.

  • @NewarkWilder1

I think the word you ment to use is disproportionate. All food items are taxed at the same rate regardless of the future cost on the health system. I agree with your other point.

  • @NewarkWilder1

You don't understand that prices for alcohol and tobacco will not influence its consumption. Except in the case of the desperately poor, which have a lower life expectancy in the first place.

The % of the population who are smokers has been steadily declining, the problem will become less and less in the future.

Alcohol is part of the Aus culture and takes a collective effort from the entire society to solve.

Neither of which are influenced by price.

  • @b0b0maj0

shut up ... just shut your mouth

  • @b0b0maj0 Why is alcohol a problem?

  • @sydneymassive

Well its not. Just people's self control. From an economic perspective it strains the health system. Either from hospital admissions from drunken brawls or from long term health problems caused by prolonged heavy drinking.

  • @b0b0maj0 there is three major parties in Australia, Coalition, Labor and the Greens.

These days the only thing the Greens want is to stop global warming and implement a national fuck a tree day, The Greens are basically a single issue party (a waste of time) The Coalition and Labor vary in policy 2% of the time.

This leaves parties like The Democrats unnoticed, purely cause they're not Christian right, and they don't want to wear hemp clothing and burn bras in public.

  • @NewarkWilder1

The greens are a socialist party. They also have environmentalist policy.

  • @NewarkWilder1 not too sure which part of Australia you have lived in, but last I checked the most important political issue is “what should be done about climate change” and “Can Australia support the rise of refugees” In America the most important political issue seems to be the complete and utter extermination of the Muslim community.

I don’t see how this fits in with the allegation that America is "the greatest Nation on earth”

  • @Lipzah America's greatest challenge is also a global challenge and it isn't climate change. Where you got the idea that they are trying to exterminate the muslim community I can't even begin to fathom, but take that as a throw away comment of no particular merit. BTW, Australians and Americans share a lot in common. Take that from someone that lives in both places and originated in Europe.

  • @bannol1 Perhaps extermination was a strong word to use. But I know too many Muslim people that have been forced to leave America because they were not comfortable practising their religion with so much hate being directed at them. They also were annoyed at people for constantly asking them why Osama Bin Laden is so evil. They were sick of being constantly compared to terrorists and hated the prejudice of the general public.

  • @Lipzah I know plenty of folk from the middle east. Many of them muslims and other religious denominations. There are those that move to a western country to become part of that culture and others that don't. The famous saying goes:"When in Rome do as the Romans do." I came to Oz from somewhere else too. Not to be something else in Oz, but to be part of this society. I don't take my cultural differences and beliefs out on others. Nor do I feel confused about who I am or where I belong.

  • @bannol1 I don’t see how this has to do with anything that I was talking about. I was merely stating what friends of mine have experienced in America. Yes I agree when in a different country you need to understand others culture, but people should have a freedom to practise whatever religion that they want without being judged by those around them.

  • @Lipzah My point is that if you want to fit in and be accepted you will. Especially in today's large urban, very mobile and mixed societies, there is a place for everyone. Here in Australia you don't have to be Muslim to be treated differently. Just move from one of our major cities to a small rural community and feel the vibes as the outsider. It takes time to get peoples' trust. Some immigrant groups have a knack for being the proverbial square peg and that doesn't gel in small towns.

  • @bannol1 I have a hunch that your friends may have had their part to play in their American experiences. I am also all for religious freedom in as much as I am also for freedom from religion. There is too much tippytoeing around the religious. My advice to new folk coming here or to America:" Tone it down a little." I don't really need or want to know where you come from, what you eat for lunch or who you pray to. If you want respect and acceptance you have to earn it like everyone else.

  • Australians are a bunch of backward bigots.

  • how?

  • @ShaytanBozorg

this is a satire... it's comedy, it's Australian Political humour. You can't go calling a whole entire country "a bunch of backward bigots" without being called them same.

  • @JepJep92, yeah, like "Stupid Americans" was "comedy". It's bigotry disguised as comedy. Anti-Americans lowlife bigots.

  • @ShaytanBozorg

so it's okay for americans to make fun of other countries... but not vice versa? doubles standards if you ask me. And you wonder why most of the world doesn't like Americans, and you know what, it's people like you that makes me proud of it!

  • @JepJep92, Americans don't do this, you nasty bigot. You Commonwealths live off of bigotry. Fuck you.

  • @ShaytanBozorg

americans don't do this? what? satire on another country's politics? oh forgive me to think when the Americans make fun of the Queen, or when Americans insult the French, What you're saying now, forgive me for thinking that was bigotry. I would like you to prove how we 'live off bigotry'.

  • @JepJep92, no, no shows dedicated to Stupid Australians or anyone else. Imagine if it had been the Stupid Aboriginals or any other group. You've GOT to be kidding me if you're trying to tell me that you haven't noticed the unbelievable amount of hatred spewed at Americans. Fuck you, you Australian prick. I'm not going to take the constant bashing of you bigoted nonAmericans and then have to argue with you about whether extreme bigotry of Americans exists, bigot.

  • Comment removed

  • @ShaytanBozorg

it was a satirical segment within the show you prick, the whole show isn't about the US, if we hated them that much we wouldn't spend our lives making fun of them, we have better things to do.

stop calling us bigots all the time, who are you trying to prove it to?

  • @JepJep92, fuck off, you anti-American bigot.

  • @ShaytanBozorg I’m not too sure what you are taking about. This movie is about how Fox News reported a lot of misinformation about Australian politics. The Chasers are a comedy show and wanted to make a funny skit explaining about how the Australian political system really works. It was in no way an attack on the American people.

People like you create a bad name for Americans and cause many people around the world to view your country in a negative light.

  • @Lipzah, shut up, you condescending piece of anti-American vile shit.

  • @ShaytanBozorg I think it’s funny that you are accusing me for being Anti-American (which I am not) when you are clearly Anti-Australian

  • @ShaytanBozorg We don't have entire shows dedicated to hating America. If you think that, they clearly you haven't done your research. The Chasers, who are a group of comedians here, spend more time satirising their own country than they do America. Please don't think you're special or anything. I see this clip as satirising the situation in Australia more than that of America anyway. See, we have the ability to laugh at ourselves.

Oh, and while you're at it, look up the word "satire"

  • @nupthatisit, your comment is so telling. Fuck you.

  • @ShaytanBozorg In what way telling?

  • @ShaytanBozorg I don't quite understand what you mean by my post being telling. The sketch spends more time taking the piss out of John Howard and Australian politics, not to mention Australian way of life, than it does America. Can you please explain why I deserved a "fuck you" from you?

  • the australian political parties are nothing like the republican parties; if anything, they're more like the democratic party, which is really a shame.

  • @eldeberry Well, you're half right. I'd say the Liberal Party is much more like the Republicans. The ALP I'd say is more like the Democrats, may slightly more left than the Dems - the Dems are still more conservative than they are left compared to Australian ideologies, although Obama seems to be changing that a fair bit.

  • chaser gave us the best political satire in the world.... no exceptions.... its a shame they were silenced by the currant affairs claptrap bullshit

  • Have a look at the acedemic qualifications of our polititions just about all law and arts degrees. No training in formal logic! No wonder when you ask them a question all you get is tangled twisted rhetoric. Demand politions with formal logic training and get substance for a reply rather what you would expect from a lawyer.

  • It's is outrageous that those who make the law should actually have law degrees and understand the major issues / implications of their decisions. You are right we should have some sort of philosopher elected as treasurer so we can get a straight, non twisted rhetoric answer of why they fucked the economy up because they had no formal training in what actually matters.

  • I guess I'm just oberving that our leadership has left the economy and the environement turn to shit. Perhaps if someone with creative vision and trained in scientific method was in charge the we could actually get something useful done At the moment all they can talk about is how some idiots think that aluminium is an insulator when in fact its a conductor.

Sorry chaser for writing this stuff here. You guys are much funnier.

  • Unfortunately the skills required are completely different and very few people will possess the ability to engage successfully in parliament whilst still having the scientific knowledge. Keep in mind though every 'scientific' portfolio has advisers and presumably politicians at least in part act on that advice. In SA politics our minister for education is a doctor, and the minister for health is a teacher and they they both suck at their jobs. Maybe if you swapped them it would be ok :)

  • what are you talking about? you sound like you were in love with england and they cheated on you.

we actually trade a hell of a lot with britain - we always have and we always will. learn what you're talking about before spraying rubbish

  • @liber8me They did screw us over quite a bit when they joined the EU though.

  • Join the Australian Force Party ...email me to find out more

  • do you mean australia first party?

    no thanks

  • Steve Fielding is a Zionist puppet. a disgusting sellout to the people. a Godsend to the rich and powerful

voting against the luxury car tax shows he is looking after the Zionist big end of town

it's SHAMEFUL that most religions are ruled by Zionist interests

Mr Fieldings electorate office should be picketed by protesters. he shouldn't hear the end of this. make him think twice before he sides with the Zionist scumbags again you are an imposter, a lowlife sellout

  • being zionist scum has been reduced to whether you want to pay taxes on expensive cars or not... That's fuckin dumb.

  • mate he's a church minister if anything he would do anything to hurt jewish interests

  • Lol! I love the Chaser. That was hilarious.
