  • didn't indicate to pull out. ooops

  • @themott123 Hi thanks for taking the time to comment. The question of signals has been dealt with already please see comments 6 months ago. Basically it is not required. Take care, Bob

  • @themott123

He didnt need to signal as there was nothing comming @ the time & so Correct.

ONLY moving away & stopping you act on what you see. So may not need a signal.

BUT junctions & rounderbouts you need to signal as you cannot see whats comming up.

  • Nice Video But you are comming back a little far as you could get a mini in the space in front of you :) maybe tech "see tyres on tarmac" TnT. If you do drive frorward then you will probably get 1 minor in our area anyway. But different parts of the country different rules im affaid.

  • @cwmbrandrivingschool Hi thanks for the comment. The videos are intended for learner drivers and the requirements of the driving test are that the manoeuvre should be completed within TWO car lengths. Please no comments that may confuse learner drivers. "Minor" faults were replaced many years ago by "driving" faults. The rules of a driving test do not differ around the country, the important thing is to complete the test to the best of one's ability and leave the marking to the examiner. Bob

  • Bob is that you in the video out of interest? Why do some instructors recommend full lock right, instead of one turn to the right? Thanks.

Yes it is me. The camera was on a tripod on the pavement for the external shots and attached to the interior of the car for the internal shots. Methods of teaching vary. Full lock will generally get you into a smaller gap (than the driving test requires). I teach the 1 turn method as, I feel, there is less that can go wrong. Thanks for commenting. Bob

  • @danielharris13

Different cars have different stearing locks on them. I always use 1 full turn then to full lock. this is a basic Corsa, hope this helps.

  • got test this tuesday wasnt nervous but its creeping up on me now first test and had about 12 lessons in total really hope i pass could do with a car now

  • Easiest reverse in my opinion

  • On your driving test your not marked on the maneuver itself, you marked on your ability to keep good control and good observations. if they say reverse park and you do it fine, then decide to move the car forward a little you will fail because its reverse park, going forward is not part or reversing. thats what i've been told, i have a driving test in november :S

  • @nightice92 Hi thanks for your comments but please be careful what you post especially when making definitive statements such as "you will fail". If "you do it fine" why would you "move the car forward a little"? I have been instructing for 16 years, have read all the manuals and DSA material, have sat in on countless driving tests and can assure you that "going forward" will not, in and of itself, result in test failure. Hope the test goes well, Bob.

  • @oasisdrivingacademy you have a lot of knowledge on this subject and i respect that very much. During on of my driving lessons my instructor told me not to move forward to correct the maneuver, becuase you are not marked for the maneuver but how you controll the vehicle and your observations. moving forward a little will not cause you to fail the entire test, but i was told you might get a minor fault or something, is this right?

  • @nightice92 Hi thanks again for your comments. So if you were told that a driving fault would result from "moving forward a little" why first make a post saying "you will fail"? Be careful please. The examiner will mark you not me and this will depend on the overall manoeuvre. Correcting any small errors in accuracy by going forward and then reversing may not even incur a driving fault - best to leave it to the examiner and you just concentrate on parking as best you can. Be safe, Bob.

  • @nightice92

So if my obsovation was good ans my control was good but i was out 1 foot from the kerb i would pass? NOPE! I think you shouldnt listern to people who have not got a clue.

Like the video close to the kerb, And you can move forward but 50/50 might get a driver fault for it Deffinately not a serious mark.

  • @cwmbrandrivingschool Please please please be careful with definitive statements. It is the examiner who will mark the test not us. Please also refrain from telling pupils that their instructor has "not got a clue". Bob

  • thanks for taking the time to upload this video. I have my 3rd driving test soon - may i ask, why did you continue to reverse when a car was passing you? Should you not wait, then continue with the manouvre?

  • @93vdub Hi can you let me know at what point during the video you are referring to. Generally if you will make it easier for a car to pass then continue the manoeuvre, if you will make it more difficult then stop and let the other car pass.

  • @oasisdrivingacademy at 1.42, you continued to reverse even though a car was passing you. I personally can't see a problem with it, it's just ive been taught that if youre reversing, you must completely stop until it is clear?

  • @93vdub Hi thanks. The car is passing as I am clearing the road i.e. the front of the car is now creating an opening for the other vehicle rather than obstructing it. In that situation it is best to clear the road. If the front of the car was still moving out towards the middle of the road then it would be best to stop so that no greater obstruction is caused. Thanks for the comment and for being so observant. Take care, Bob.

  • @oasisdrivingacademy Passed my test!! Thanks for your vids, gave me some more confidence with the manouvres the night before... Ended up with turn in the road anyway which was the best i could have wanted!

  • @93vdub Well done, that's great news. Think about the Pass Plus course. Drive safely. Bob

  • ERROR:

Wt a driving instructor. He forgets to signal before exiting.

  • @TheDownload007 Please see previous comments with regard to signalling, but thanks for taking the time to comment. Bob

  • @ItsKnucklez Your driving test examiner will mark the manoeuvre, there may be no fault, a driving fault, a serious fault or a dangerous fault. Do the parking exercise as best you can and leave the assessment to the examiner. Bob

  • This video is perfect

  • @ModernWin Thank you very much, I hope your learning goes well. Bob

  • Hi, thanks for commenting. When moving off a signal is only necessary if another road user would benefit from it. When practicing parallel parking a signal should not be necessary as there should not be anyone to benefit from the signal. If there were another road user that would benefit then wait until they have passed before beginning otherwise they may assume you are going to move off and may give way to you - they would then not be happy if you stopped in front of them to begin parking!

  • Dude, how about some turn signal when exiting parking spot? :]

  • GREAT PRESENTATION....so patiently and skillfully is everything explained.

    THANX A LOT !!

(In India we don't get so much space between two cars, so I think we should keep our car close to the car ( 1/2 foot ) on the left, before steering left reverse ??

  • got my test in three days i have to do an extended test is there any advice you could give me , ive had around fifteen lessons and im quietly confident i will pass but any advice will be aprieciated thanks, ian

  • im going to train with bill plant.what do think of them.

  • @ddfffggghhhh I can't comment on individual schools. I would suggest you contact ADI's who trained with Bill Plant and ask them. Bill Plant should be pleased to provide you with names and phone numbers. Bob

  • thanks for the reply anyway i passed with bsm probably they got different way of teaching.im taking up adi training soon hope me good luck

  • @ddfffggghhhh Yes people do have different ways of teaching but the outcome should always be the same. If you are going to train as an ADI then you will be guided by the DSA syllabus and their publications. Choose your trainer wisely. Take care, Bob.

  • you don't have to straighten the wheels after finishing the parking.when i passed 15 years ago i was tought by my instructor leave the wheels turning right so it would be easier to move off

  • @ddfffggghhhh Thanks for the comment. Parking should be done with due regard for other road users, should be safe and not posing a danger. Wheels pointing out poses a danger and should ONLY be done when parking on a hill. Look at the diagrams in "Driving - the essential skills" and "Official Driving Test", these books are produced by the DSA. My concern as always is that pupils are not confused by comments posted but I do appreciate your input and the time taken to raise the issue. Bob

  • Super Tutorials, thank you very much

  • I don't know Bob, I don't mean to be rude or brag about anything, but the Canadian driving and regulations system has successfully brought us to the top country with least accident occurrence worldwide.

  • @nicoargca Hi, thanks again for taking the time to comment. Your comments are interesting and not without merit. My concern is that pupils in the UK may be confused by comments that conflict with our standards of tuition. Bob

  • I think they are forgetting that when you are doing all those maneuvers you HAVE to signal so that passing vehicles know what you are trying to do and will either wait or pass by you with caution.

ei. when backing up this person SHOULD HAVE signaled left to indicate he is trying to parallel park behind that car.

    Driver from Canada :)

  • @nicoargca Hi 'Driver from Canada' and thanks for the comment. The only signal required during the reverse is reversing lights. A left signal offers no further information to cars behind you and may confuse those in front of you. To perform the manoeuvre safely you must maintain all round observation and be prepared to stop and give way to other road users. Things may of course be different in Canada. Bob

  • thanks! really helped!

  • Hi, to answer your question I have posted a new video. I hope this will help you. Bob

  • what´s better ?

using only the clutch or do i need to press on the gas as well?

  • hi bob, thanks for this vid. I learn how to parallel park with the help of this video. god bless.

  • Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Glad to help and God bless you too brother, Bob

  • Hi Bob, your videos are fantastic. Could you also do a video on bay parking? Thanks so much.

  • Thanks, I am trying to arrange a time to do the Bay Park and Reverse Left but the filming needs more planning....hopefully not too long before it happens. Take care, Bob

  • when he straightend up, did he scrape the kerb, or is that just the camera angle and sound from the camera.

  • Hi there, thanks for taking the time to comment. No it isn't the kerb just the loose grit in the gutter. Hope all goes well with your driving. Bob
