It is painfully obvious that the LP won't be in national debates, or be the center of national attention, or presented to the public by the media as an alternative choice to the republicrat party system currently in place. Peter Schiff had a good idea when he spoke at a LP convention a while back and said the LP should take over the Republican Party and use that platform to get their voice and message heard. That's a realistic approach to taking over the establishment machine.

@rgvhen That is already being attempted, and it's only working in a very limited fashion. You're forgetting the bad consequences of such an action: Republicans can take over the Libertarian name & rhetoric & use it to destroy libertarianism while pretending to promote it. That's what Ronald Reagan did, & it's what the 1990's Republican congress did. Now we have the Tea Parties pretending to be independent but are actually the tool of Dick Armey, a 1990's Republican, to get the GOP back in power.
