Your theory makes sense, but it was blown apart with the release of 7. The biggest hole for me was saying that this engineer couldn't do a simple rip-and-stitch. I could do it if I needed to. John suffered a bad foot wound in Saw. It's often overlooked. Foreshadowing is proven correct in the beginning of 7. And of course, we who have seen all the Saws will know that it's Zepp and not Lawrence. Adam beat him with the toilet cover, and died when John left him. Everyone knows that!

Also, you don't need to be a surgeon to cut out a guys eye and stitch it back up. True, Lawrence did cut off his right foot, but he wouldn't be able to walk without a crutch.

Another theory is that they are Daniel Matthews (the boy from Saw 2) and Detective Rigg (the black cop in Saw 2, 3, and the main test subject of Saw 4).
