First , I have think that's so really and my second impressions are to read the comments :D and I have read" PROSIM" " SIM AVIONICS" and I have understand that's so not really :p but that's very impressionant
Why not just take flying lessons. I got bored after 67 hours in a Cessna 172 but loved it in the beginning. It got pretty costly at $300 per hour and very impractical really. So why do you spend so much money on this, I'm not trying to be mean just curious really. I fly the cheap Microsoft simulator package before I took lessons but it is very, very different in "real life". Wind for one, bumps for two, fear for real.
@skipsassy1 I dont need to take flying lessons as I am already a private pilot. I am also a former Navy Flight Engineer. That said, I would not likely ever fly a 737 for real hence the simulator. No comparison at all to flying a 172.
@skipsassy1 Not true, in all honesty, I've flown hundreds and hundreds of hours on the sim and reading before I took flight lessons and when I actually got in the plane I found it easier to fly and actually got my Private License in 40 hours. But I guess everyone's different...
Great Job on the sim. Now that you have projection display...what do think about the quality compare to monitors. My guess is you can't see as much detail but are you satisfied?
@MrJschooley1 oh, this is a loaded question and subject to a lot of opinion but you are right, projection is no where near as detailed as using lcd screens. I would probably love to have 3 60" LCDs but still that wouldnt allow for wraparound view. The wraparound view on the other hand is far more immersive and IMHO worth the loss of detail. I hope someday projectors will be as good as lcds but wishful thinking probably. Great question...
Tell me from where did you bought it because I need your answer soon I will work on cockpit and i want too know from where did you bay the yoke and the Autopilot ???
It is a fact that the average kid today has more power in their games and computer then was on our first trip to the moon. This is how we start with most things. Keep it up and keep plugging away and I wish you all the best. Keep up all up dated. Peace Be With You.
There are probably many opinions about your question and I have to confess that I only used a Z Axis joystick (old MS Sidewinder) back when I was into combat sims like Falcon and there probably wasnt much crosswind simulation in those that I can recall. But that said I think crosswinds are pretty easy once you understand how to fly them no matter what controls you have but I definitely think they would be much easier with dedicated rudder pedals rather than twisting your wrist.
Crazy! I love it! You must have seen the sim ckrailvideo made? Anyway, you obviously did a great job with yours. Quick question, was there any crosswinds on final? I ask simply because I typically use a single USB stick with Z axis for the rudders (yeah I know) and it's very difficult to line up properly on final. I was wondering if it gets easier with a yoke and pedals? Seems like an obvious question, but I've never tried yoke and pedals so...
Great setup, did you make your own curved screen ? and how does the projector images not get partly blocked by the simulator itself ? as this is my next step in my home cockpit....
Believe me...the Terrain Warning is annoying but we didn't have a switch programmed yet to cancel it. In fact I would say the simulator is still far from complete. Lots to do yet. Thank you for the nice cooments all.
Great sim mate, starting to build my own one. Quick question, are you using fsx or fs2004 and which aircraft eg PMDG, Ariane. Great job and great approach + landing. Keep up the good work
This is FSX wit default flight model. All cockpit glass software is by Sim-Avionics and Flightdeck Solutions. All Hardware and panels are made by Flightdeck Solutions.
Excellent collection of videos Scott. They have been exceptionally helpful in my own set up. Many thanks for taking the time to share your expertise to a relational new sim builder, but old hand at flight sim! WilloW
That was totally awesome. And a great landing. Very nice homebuilt cockpit. I just started on my first cockpit 1 week ago. Currently working on my seats. Cheers.
This looks so awesome!!!! and at first I thought it was real.
