This hits me so close to home. I did the same thing w/ my family's camera. Back then editing programs were extremely expensive so I got a duel-deck VCR. There was a mic input so I could put music & foley in. The mix feature was very primitive & the original audio came out slightly muted. Eventually I got a mic w/ volume control. It still posed problems, but I got it to work ok. Then when I was 15, I got a primitive editing program & a digital camera. (Also very expensive then.) That was game on!

Honestly, this is one of my favorite documentaries of all time. I am a filmmaker and seeing this proves, in my heart, that if someone wants to make art, they will make art, no matter what circumstances they are in or what they have around them. James Rolfe is an auteuristic genius, and deserves so much more praise than just AVGN compliments. The guy LOVES his craft and puts his heart and self into everything he makes.

What you´re telling there about battling two or more VCRs almost brought me to tears -- I too have wasted weeks of my life trying to edit the movies I shot with my pals. It was hell, during that time I learned how much callories are burned by constant concentration only.

But as today everything is better and digital and stuff, the dead movies of the olden times will rise, RIIISE!!!

It axtully takes me one year to make one movie because I spend so much time preparing me for the shooting. When i shoot the film it can take three months ore more to edit.
