1.Big business looking for cheap labour? like Dell who left Ireland for Poland and Nokia who left Germany for Romania.
2.The "elite" and overpaid politicians and burocrats in Brussels, most members of the EU Playmobil "parliament" in Strasbourg & Brussels.
NO side : France,The Netherlands,Ireland who have already voted NO + Austria,Germany and UK whom would all vote NO if "allowed" by the un-elected commission of millionares
gotta vote yes, all that these no campaigners do is make up lies & propaganda, if you read the treaty which i believe very few people have you will see the light.

Isn't Europe setting itself up for a fall? Aren't the elitists intent on preparing the way for their king, a modern Charlemagne, forging the European Union after the model of the "Holy Roman Empire"? Isn't Germany the architect of this grand design? The Jesuits the power behind this throne? (read more ...)
ganley is the best we will ever have.. come back ganley we need you... thanks for saving ireland with the no vote.. well done.. we should all thank this amazing man for what he has done for ireland.
Ganley is a gangster who worked with the Russian mafia. I also heard he used to abuse children and fuck sheep! Don't vote for Ganley! If you were a politician, he wouldn't vote for you. He fucks sheep! He fucked your mother and he has fucked Ireland by standing against the treaty so fuck you Ganley! Fuck you Ganley! Fuck you!!! How ya like me now?
i met these guys campaigning down in ennis a bunch of failed graduates couldnt make it in the real world so joined this dodgy geeser . just into arguing and rabbitting on .parnoid muppets. bye bye bye bye bye
libertas my arse....we need eu and its lobby groups fighting for our industries this pillock is defeated and rightly so ..go back to you military command anyway looks like something form V
I challenge all the Ganley fans here to produce some evidence that the E.U. is "the end of democracy". How silly and ungrateful are ye people, it has small democratic deficit in the council (which the Lisbon Treaty was going to help alleviate, but idiots voted no based on ignorance and Ganley's scaremongering), the benefits of the E.U. are evident, the negatives are not, if Ireland goes down a right-Nationalist path rather than pan-European we will have no influence in the multi-polarity world.
Give me ONE reason to vote yes. The treaty is not the end of democracy, it's an erosion of it. If we were to implement the Lisbon treaty EU political structure it would mean that the Dail would propose bills and amendments, and the civil service (unelected), in a secret meeting, would decide to pass that bill. Is that democratic? Plus, you imply that voting No gets us kicked out of the EU. That's ignorant and you know it. Everything will remain in the same structure as it is now.
Libertas are an absolute disgrace. Ganley lies, the no vote was a vote based on ignorance (it was merely constitutional reform to make the democratic aspects of the EU more efficient), Ganley played on peoples ignorance and fears. He is a far-right wing cunt of the highest order with no agenda except fear politics and anyone who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves.
Ganley is a liar, not good for Europe, he is pro-american and wants to destroy Europe on the behalf of the CIA, he is a zionist agent who works for the Simon Wiesenthal organization in America.
Alot of people are given out about the man havin money.....jus goes to prove hes not doin it for money an that he cant be bribed, people wud wan to take there heads out of there asses an look at where the country is now in the shit!! its time for change new people new ideas. i hope declan is elected :D
the Irish will vote for Lisbon. our polititions and representitives there will make sure of that. France needs more power in Europe and after these child molesting potato eaters vote we will be back to glory and all will kneel before our might. France will conquer the world with our nuclear expertise.
As an Irishman living in France I find it difficult to believe that the French will break from their long tradition of strking, sponging and lazing about to do anything, let alone take over the world! Your country is a joke! I had to give SFR a copy of my passport to buy a mobile phone; the university at which I study (Pantheon-Assas) has no computer facilities for students. How much more bureaucratic can France get?
Where in Dublin Central do the Workers Party, Labour, SinnFein, FG, FF, candidates live
Are they living in areas of Dublin Central with unproportional amounts of immigrants. Are they living in areas with many failed asylum-seekers or those who have evaded deportation, or those who have criminal history in their own countries?
do they live in vastly predominant if not totally white, more upmarket residential areas?
the above are for mass-immigration and expect YOU to live and deal with it.
im not talking about commies .declan has stated he doesnt like eu elitists ..but he swans about in bling...failed to submit his expenses for public records pumps cash into his campaign anyway he 9 percent and now irrelevant money cant buy votes
This guy is not just fighting for Ireland, but for the future of the whole of Europe. our future is in the hands of the Irish. please defeat the EU monster by voting NO again, as if the first time was not enough!!!!
This is our last chance, if the Lisbon treaty goes ahead we will never be asked again. We owe it to our children and their children to give them the freedom and democracy that we hold in TRUST for them. It is not ours to surrender!
Just seen this man on BBC, easy to see this is a good man, they asked him unfair questions, and tried their best to smear Him,, didnt work.. this is a good man... standing up for the rights of the Irish
The BBC is part EU funded. They are "Common Purpose" trained. poweful forces are at work to destroy our countries and remove the people from power. This is the last fight, and only ireland have been given the opportunity to defend us all. the world is watching with baited breath! please vote No!!!!
you wont get me goose-step'n to the phoenix park to praise "our dear leader" once the thicko's in this country vote in this nazi. I'LL LIVE IN THE WOODS RATHER THAN LIVE UNDER A DICTATOR.
Libertas so far. They want their candidates to prove themselves with an enthusiasm akin to the extreme right-wing. Now considering that most people have jobs and families and would be unable to do that, what does that tell you about what their target 'candidate' is?
They want easily influenced young people 18-25, who happen to have no ties or responsibilities and will without question take direction from Ganley and an ex-soldier. Libertas is being founded on militaristic terms.
You just have to look at the company Ganley keeps in Europe to see his political agenda. All of his "Libertas" reps have stong links with Neo-Fascist, racist, skinhead groups from the far right. He is a Fascist trying to rise up through the democratic process. Its up to the people to use their vote to ensure this does not happen. There is no place in modern Europe for a lying, right wing extremists such as Ganley.
Yep fascist! Interesting that his 'candidates' are all people who have to prove themselves to enthusiastically support him. With that attitude all he will attrract are the looney right unemployed.
I grew up with Mr Ganley in glenamaddy co.galway, he was an out cast with no real friends, courtesy of his arrogance and his love for HIMSELF, a tosser if there was every one,
« The EU can lawfully suppress political criticism of its institutions and of leading public figures « ( European Court of Justice ruling 2001 ).
The European Charter of Fundamental Rights (art.2,passage 2c) states that lethal force (death penalty / live ammo)can be used on citizens to quell « rioting, civil upheaval ».
The same Charter does NOT grant EU citizens the right to VOTE.
The EU Can NOT be changed from within & clearly no political party of repute advocates or campaigns for withdrawal of Ireland or the U.K. from the EU & restoration of our independent, sovereign, democracy, with Justice & the right to self determination in a free country. The EU is an evil concept bereft of democracy, funding, supporting, aiding & enriching politicians NOT people.
and in answer to your question about an immigrant into ireland, the question is, should that person after growing up in ireland, being educated in ireland, go back to their parents country, lets say its an african country and lecture them how to live their lifes. That is pure madness, the only experience they have of the place is from their parents interpretation, its not real life epxerience.
Well that question has also been put to the Irish people and the result is that they are not to be considered Irish nationals, unless that is another vote that you will choose to ignore.
you are ignoring half of what i say. i will repeat, some one who is raised in the irish system. The vote you are talkin about, i think, is the refusal of irish citizenzhip to people who have children just to stay in ireland? they have no relation to someone who lives here and is raised through our system. and yes, a person who is born here and spends their life here regardless of where their parents are from, are more irish than someone who spends their life in scotland.
And just a thought seeing as you are such a patriot, do you consider any children educated by what you call the British system, in lets say Antrim or Armagh, British? Because I think that by you line of thinking so far that you do and if so you are I think you may now realise in your heart of hearts wrong.
They are ruled by britain, if they are thought using the english cirriculum, they are thought the british law system,(i'm aware ours is very similar), our tax system, our voting system. Amd the items that we as irish people value everyday, someone who does not grow up amongst that does have the experience to tell me how to vote. Gerry adams is a prime example, last election on prime time,i dont think the man even knew what a tax credit is.He doesnt pay into the irish system and doesnt know it.
Holy God, so lets get this one straight, Gerry Adams is not Irish enough for you? Would De Valera fall short of your exacting standards? and by your logic I guess that the Nationalist community of the North can be discarded?? Your a disgrace and just the type that would vote this treaty in and sell this country down the river just to be in with Europe. Michael Collins must be turning in his grave.
who said anything about being irish, read my posts. It is about someone who grows up in the irish system being far more qualified to represent irish people than someone who does not grow in the system. Surely this is a no brainer.
I've read your drivel and you seem to have a really high opinion of yourself and cling to the fact that you have been educated in Ireland and in someway that makes you more qualified to comment and judge others. You also seem to have cast aside your fellow Irish men in the North of this country ( note not Northern Irl ) with your blinkered qualifications of how you quantify Irishness.
i'm not casting anyone aside, i'm simply saying somone who grows up in the irish system is more qualified to represent the views of irish people. and yes i can understand your primary school irish, even tho its spelt wrong.
School boy error was it?? You head up to South Armagh and tell the boys up their that you don't consider them to be a Irish as you or that their not qualified torepresent the views of the Irish people and see how far you get. This coming from the guy that reckons that the Constitution was nailed to the door of the GPO ?? and who would gracefully accept the No vote this time around, but funnily enough doesn't respect it enough at present. Contradiction??
stop putting words into my mouth, not once have i said someone from south armagh is not irish. but what i will say is that they will not have as much knowledge of the systems in place in the republic. yes, i don't respect it, because people like ganley feed the public with lies. I dont believe every knew enough about what the lison is.
I taught that might stump a spoofer like you alright, shite on all you like about being such a genuine Irish man but can't be arsed to speak the language, get a grip and if your such a patriot put your money where your mouth is and speak your native tongue otherwise your a spoofer!!
Well one of the main threats coming from both FF and FG is look at Iceland, cast adrift, and the implication is that we will be also if we don't get in line like good lads and pass this treaty, sure why are we being asked to vote again surley there is an implicit threat there alone ?? Please justify the reason for the vote to be taken again ?
My justification for another vote is because a huge amount of people from my own peer and family group alone did not understand what the lisbon was, by their own admission. The yes campaign did a bad job of explaining it. The no campaign made stuff up about abortion, war, taxes. The people who wrote this very complex document are going to spell it out that, it does not say we are going to war, or force abortion or force taxes. That is why i think we shud vote again.
There is no justification for another vote and should it be voted in the Republics Constition should be burned in public for that is what it is effectivly, dust once this treaty is introduced. And from my peer group and family there is nothing but anger fear and a feeling of disinchantment that they can be treated with such contempt. And while this treaty does not request us to go to war it does insist that all signituries commit to a percentage og GDP to be committed to the European Defence
but do you think the republic constitution should remain the one document forever? What kind of impact does the contents of the document have on our every day life? surely we all want peace, justice and tolerance. It doesnt matter where this is written. Europe as i see it is the only beacon of light on this planet, there is nowhere else like us. It is the one and only place where their is majority tolerance for all people and all religions and all neighvouring countries.
In a word yes, men died to have that document written and shame on anyone that should disregard it with such ease, it has an impact on our evryday lives because it is the law ot this state & is sole reason that the people of Europe have a country which requires a referendum for this treaty to be passed & it seems to me that the Eurocrats are tolerant once you happen to agree with them hence this sham of a re-run of the vote and as it happens the US is aplace where freedom of religion is tolerate
you see, you dont know what you are talking about. The constitution nailed to the door of the GPO is not why we have a referendum on this matter, it is because in 1987 raymond crotty brought the government to court because they made a decision on abortion. He won, and now ireland has a referendum on everything. The eurocrats have been making europe a better place for decades and they have constantly come up against euro skeptics. when have they ever done something bad for europe?
Well you go ahead and vote for this treaty AGAIN and see how many referendums you will be afforded, none, and the constitution was not nailed to the door of the GPO, that was the Declaration of Independence, something your so keen to throw away. And the abortion issue is not the reason that we have referendums its written in it that we must have a referendum should a change to the constitution be implemented. That right will be gone should this treaty be accepted on that point alone it should die
do i have to spell everything out to you?? The creation of the concept of a referendum did not occur in 1987, but what did occur is.. for matters as trivial as this where the rest of europe dont require referendums, we do.
No need to get smart, you Referendums are to be welcomed and welcomed with open arms, whats your problem with bringing an issue to the people? Would save the bother of having to run a campaign to bring in a Treaty like this i supppose. Or maybe the treaty issue is trivial to you I think I have you now skin, well the French, Dutch and Danish did have a referendum and voted it down unfortunatley their constitution is not as strong as ours and their vote was ignored.
If it's not changing then why the hula balu about tyhe cosessions that we are recieving and just cause don't want it ( not that they are getting the oppourtunity to vote as are none of the otehr EU nations ) doesn't mean its good, thats just a crazy mentality. And yes Europe has helped us and now we can now help Europe by upholding the legitimate vote of the French, Dutch and Danish people that has been railroaded as our is being attempted to be. & lies, lies are we cannot be cast adrift by EU
what does that even mean? cast adrift by the EU, are imaging something that you think is going to happen because of voting yes/no? I really cant understand this. If the lisbon goes through, Everyone in ireland is still going to go to work tomorrow and still get paid tomorrow. The only differences will be faster decision making, better structure for more members, the differences are so small, but yet ganley, sinn fein and the rest of the morons will make you believe the world is goin to cave in.
How is doing the fear mongering?? Is it Libertas dragging the country back to the ballot box to vote again on a treaty until we vote the way they want? And with the threats that we will be cast adrift by Europe if we don't ringing in our ears. The founders of this state must be turning in their graves when our representitives ignore the mandate given and cosy up to the big wigs in Europe
the lies libertas made up during the campaign is fear mongering, children being locked up,war, abortion etc.The treaty is not changing. They are just goin to spell it out,we wont be goin to war,or force anything.the founders of the state would be nothing but happy at the fact of the irish people encouraging something that the majority british people discourage. On top of that, europe has helped this country so much over the last 30 years, that everyone of the founders would be smiling about it.
Ireland really benefitted from the EU and now they damaged it by saying "no" to more democracy.
It made me sick as i found out today on national news today that Ganley has his money from us weapon deals, works with the heritage foundation, (bushs most important think tank), and in fact has a U.S. flag in his office. A real european? Or a man married to a american that sabotages the EU on behalf of the scared u.s. conservatives that thank God are loosing influence in the world?
More democracy? Is that some kinda fucking joke? Less veto = less democracy. Vetos represent national sovereignty. Now countries elected parliaments/governments can be overruled by unelected EU politburo kommissars.
omg stud2851! you are beyond being misled there! um where do you think the world "democratic" elite put their bilions that should be spent on food and to help their lower human ie us, on GUNS and WAR, do some research, who profits from war? i think you'll get your answers there mate. oh and i'm irish, we did not benefit from europe, ireland became the country that it was due to its own dynamic ideas, EU has ruined ireland
pommepot says "why is ireland in a recession now? Cause they're trying to bully the Irish people into saying yes to EU."..... LOL Are you a conspiracy Moran? Explain that? I dont think the Sun would even suggest that? What a Simpleton LOL ha ha
The EU is not an evil thing that tries to destroy its members, that would not make any sense. If you don't want to be part of the EU and believe you can manage as a small country in a globilized world you can leave but don't think you can stay and dictate everything. democracy means 1 vote per person not 1 vote per country. personally, i hope the eu parliament will get more power ower the eu commision, and the treaty was a step in the right direction.
the majority of irish people didnt know what the lisbon was about. Its a complex legal document and its madness to ask people to vote yes or no on something that contains so many things. You'd nearly need a vote for every item in the thing. Declan ganley is a british person who would be better suited to go back and live with the conservative british.
he was born in Britain, therefor he is british. He has irish parents that is all. Same as any of these soccer players or anyone else, irish parents, but he is not irish.
Tell me would you consider Paul McGrath, David O'Leary or Phil Lynott Irish?? Eamon de Valera is another. Just because one is born in a stable does not make one a horse - quote from the Duke of Wellington renouncing his Irish birth.
He was born in london and has british citizenship. But you choose to say he is irish because it suits you. He is not born in ireland, if he has irish citizenship, it is only a formality that he can claim because his parents are irish. It does not change his place of birth.
He was born in Watford - yes - this is a town outside of London inhabitated by many Irish who work in the local motor factories. His parents moved back to Ireland a few years after - he lives in Ireland and is Irish. You on the other hand appear to be an American so piss off and murder some innoncent Muslim people you piece of yankee cockslime!!
hahaha! i'm not america. and you've proved what type of person you are. Your comment is more suited toward yourself. Unreal you dont even have the intelligence to have a debate about something with resorting to that.
My comment was based on your logic - why do you have an American icon - you couln't be Irish then if you're not born, bred, live and work in Ireland for 100% of your life - my point is that the Irish population is made up of many people born in other countries - including Declan Ganley, Phil Lynott, Paul McGrath and David O'Leary - all of whom happened to be born in England.
Those guys don't try to change how the country is ran. One sangs songs, the other two play football. If any of them attempted to tell the irish nation how they should live and vote, i would feel the same. He is british person telling irish people how to vote because its suits his financial agendas to have disjointed europe. This is a typical british attitude to europe, always has been and will be for quite some time. British born ganley is no different.
Irish people will not be bullied into accepting a treaty that takes away our right to a commissioner and interferes with our neutrality and anti abortion stance. The French also rejected this treaty. Sinn Fein - as anti British as you can get - opposed this treaty and sat aside Declan Ganley. Why would we give our independence to faceless Europeans in Brussels?
Sinn Fein dont even realise how similar they are to the brits, they are not liberal, they are just as backward as the british conservatives all be it from a catholic socialist viewpoint. This is pure scare mongering about abortion or neutrality. Our constitution requires referendums on these issues, that doesnt change. How can eu force us to act in war, just not going to happen. Also the commissioners, how can u have 27 conmmissionsers?each commissioner is finance, agriculture etc,u cant have 27plus.
Politicans of Europe want to introduce this treaty by stealth - that won't work - at least if we don't like Irish politicans we can throw them out - can't do that in Europe. I mean who in the ECB has explained why the Euro is so much more stronger than the GBP which has weakened our trading position. Who has explained why its taking so long to reduce interest rates although our economy is in freefall. No one. This is why Lisbon lost - no accountability from these people to citizens.
Look at the reaction in Europe once Ireland voted no. France was dismissive stating that Ireland could go it alone. Was this said when France voted no? - of course not. We should refuse to push this through on behalf of the hundreds of millions of European citiznes who weren't given the right to vote.
But that makes sense, ireland was the only country who said no?? You lecture me about democracy? that is democracy. Does it not make sense to you, if only one country says no, then though. But more start to, then it needs to be looked at? does that not make sense to you? People seem to have some chip on their shoulder here that we are equals or something. we are. and this rubbish about european citizens who didnt vote, they should contact their governments to change their system.its not up to us.
What difference does his place of birth make really, if I move to Glasgow with my wife and have two kids, raise them there but teach thm everything about Ireland including our language, history and Culture. I'd like to think that I and they could consider themselves Irish without someone questioning their heritage.
but these hypotechical people are born in glasgow, they will go to school in glasgow, they will grow up in glasgow, etc etc etc, they will be british passport holders and british citizens. they are not representatives of the irish people.
"These hypotechical people" as you say are my children who hold Irish passports as it happens, speak Irish fluently and while may be British by accident of birth, are Irish by the grace of God. If you are Irish but due to economics or life are forced to leave Ireland are your children forced to forgoe their heritage ?
yes, you are from the place that you born. Your parents are irish that is all. I really cant understand why people think someone who is born in brazil or vietnam can be irish because their parents are?
Not sure if I'm explaining myself here but I'm Irish, Crumlin Dublin 12 born and bred but my kids have been born in Glasgow and yes have recieved a British education, however they have also been educated by me and my wife, in the language which they both speak, and the culture. Are you seriously telling me that some immigrant off the boat pregnent has a kid born in a dublin hospital is in son=me way more Irish than my kids?? Who are emotionally and physically attached to the country
well look if you're from crumlin which incidently isnt far from where i live, you will know the irish eudcation system and outlook on life is very different from the british. I dont believe someone who is born in britain and goes through their education system has the right to tell irish people how to vote, no more than i have the right to go and tell the english people how to vote even if my parents happened to be english.
Well my kids are certainly not telling you how to vote but the point that you seemed to be making was that they where in some way less Irish than someone actually born in the coombe hospital. I just cannot accept .
The EU may not be perfect, having so many newly developing countries brings problems. Any attempt to make EU work more efficiently gets critized by UKip, Libertas, Front national, and other right wing parties, Their stated ideal would be to have free flow of capital with no pre-conditions for human rights on any countries.
You say I hate democracy? yee fascist pricks make me sick.
How are they sneaking it thru? The Irish government has done nothing yet so do you know something we dont? Tell me? BTY its the Fascists in europe are anti-Lisbon treaty. e.g. Le Penn, BNP, maybe you watch too much Sky news?
The EU has ORDERED the Irish government to have another referendum (as many as necessary, until there is a 'YES'). Cowen (like most European politicians) thinks his primary loyalty lies with Brussels and is now studying ways to get the Irish to accept another referendum. This is how the antidemocratic EU always works.
well, why didn't Cowen tell them to get stuffed? The very fact they haven't announced there won't be a 2nd referendum, means that there will be, and Cowen wants it because his Brussels' masters want it
Cowen didnt tell them to get stuffed because he wants it passed as you know. They haven't announced a 2nd referendum yet but if they do it wont be exactly the same, probably tweaked a little here and there. Then the Irish will vote and pass it and all you raving nationalist Sun readers will be so pissed off. LOL
The EU is a union of democratic nations, it is one of the basic precondition to joining. It has helped democratise not just Spain, Portugal & Greece but gave a pathway for eastern Europe to democracy after the Soviet empire fell.
how is something democratic when the lawmaking process is moved outside the reach of democratic parliamentary control (ie EU politburo/commission and council). Where is the direct influence of voters gone when politicians appoint eachother to the overpaid cozy Brussels jobs?
It's not a direct democracy it's representative democracy stupid. The right wing UKip/Libertas war mongers that hate democracy so much have thought you a few stupid lines and you think it's undemocratic.
European Parliament is a directly elected parliamentary by the people of Europe, the Parliaments powers as limited to the competencies conferred upon states.
Ganley is the most Cynical politician ever, he wants a divided Europe, a stong NATO he will get more lucrative military contracts of US Gov for his Rivada Networks company
I wish you knew what Declan Ganley was like, he says he is pro European because that goes down well in Ireland. But he courts the most anti European politicians inc UKip. His basic agenda is to weaken Europes voice in the world so US is more dominant.
The payback comes in $100's Millions in luctritive US military contract for his co. Rivada Networks
Nonsense, it was the USA who DEMANDED European integration and made it a condition of the Marshall aid program. The US state department has always been enthusiastically in favor of European integration to the point of subsidizing PRO-EEC/ECSC/EU organizations to help undermine the sovereign nations of Europe. Read some history before you make rabid leftist claims.
Yes it was USA who helped start the EU in the first place. But I dont know where you have being hiding these last 8 years as NATO expansion not European integration is what is being promoted now from US.
It's the military Industrial complex and AIPAC pushing the agenda. BTW they are the 2 biggest lobbyists in America.
The truth is that even now Robert Mugabe has a greater democratic legitimacy than the EU. Mugabe has been elected often in the past though now his mandate has run out - The EU Commission has NEVER been elected & the peoples of France, Holland & Ireland have VOTED NO to the new constitution/Lisbon Treaty threatening the snouts of the politicians and parasites with losing their troughs on the gravy train. The corrupt central State is determined, like Mugabe, to force new votes for personal gain
The EU has all the political morality & understanding of integrity, democracy & the votes of the people as does Mugabe in Zimbabwe - praise be they do not yet have the confidence to act with the same brutality in their nacent Police State. One has to wonder, in this surveillance, bureaucratic controlled supra national zone, how long before its own Gullags are brought into being in this burgeoning open prison with its denial of democracy.
The People Have Voted NO to the Politician's ambitions.
Haha, you people are unbelievable!:-) It is sooo unfair that Germany - representing 82 Mio inhabitants - gets more influence than Ireland - representing 4 Mio inhabitants. This is SOO undemocratic!:-) No-no! After getting over 40 billions (Euro) over the last 35 years from the evil EU, we will protect and save our independence and (our idea of) democracy! And we will do this by not even reading the Lisbon Treaty (which is true for most of you guys). I mean: you can get off the train anytime!
we did read the treaty. the contents were unreadable. the bits that were understandable were bad news for eire. so thats why we voted no. why would u vote any other way maLacc??
Because this and the next century/ies nations like Irland, Germany, France etc. won't be important. In a world in which the US, Russia, India, China, etc. are the dominant forces competing for ressources, welfare, etc. and in which transnational problems like environmental pollution emerge, no single European country is able to have any significant effect on world politics. In order to preserve the European culture, the "European Way of Life", we have to join forces in an EFFECTIVE and POWERFUL
I don't think I am paranoid. They are not out to get Europe and they will surely give up their growth, lifestyle and wealth just to allow us to keep ours. And they are surely not only concerned about their own interests - we can see that in the discussions about environmental problems. But thanks for the real solid argument concerning the content of this discussion - and not my character. ;-)
It is interesting to note that the clearest reasons supporting the NO VOTE are becoming ever more apparent after the event as we all watch those with their snouts in the troughs on the gravy train wriggling & squirming, bullying, threatening & lieing to try to force the Treaty into being corruptly & unlawfully even by their dishonest standards. The corrupt Politicians are SEEKING A SOLUTION - which part of NO are they too arrogant to accept we don't want a SOLUTION we want DISOLUTION of the EU.

In order for the EU to work better in the international and internal spheres, the Lisbon Treaty must be ratified. This is how EU works, each country gives away a little bit of its sovereignty to the EU in order to maintain peace and prosperity of Europe. Integration is key! Stop being a populist!
oh, is that how it works? I thought this was a treaty to end our national sovereignty. a treaty to militarise the EU, disbanding national defenses. i thought it was the end of democracy.

Pikey808 2 years ago
Give me ONE reason to vote yes. The treaty is not the end of democracy, it's an erosion of it. If we were to implement the Lisbon treaty EU political structure it would mean that the Dail would propose bills and amendments, and the civil service (unelected), in a secret meeting, would decide to pass that bill. Is that democratic? Plus, you imply that voting No gets us kicked out of the EU. That's ignorant and you know it. Everything will remain in the same structure as it is now.
MinimoviesInc 2 years ago 4
Libertas are an absolute disgrace. Ganley lies, the no vote was a vote based on ignorance (it was merely constitutional reform to make the democratic aspects of the EU more efficient), Ganley played on peoples ignorance and fears. He is a far-right wing cunt of the highest order with no agenda except fear politics and anyone who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves.

Libertas so far. They want their candidates to prove themselves with an enthusiasm akin to the extreme right-wing. Now considering that most people have jobs and families and would be unable to do that, what does that tell you about what their target 'candidate' is?
They want easily influenced young people 18-25, who happen to have no ties or responsibilities and will without question take direction from Ganley and an ex-soldier. Libertas is being founded on militaristic terms.

GOODBYE FREE SPEECH and FREEDOM !
Perhaps they forgot.

and in answer to your question about an immigrant into ireland, the question is, should that person after growing up in ireland, being educated in ireland, go back to their parents country, lets say its an african country and lecture them how to live their lifes. That is pure madness, the only experience they have of the place is from their parents interpretation, its not real life epxerience.
romanking123 3 years ago
Well that question has also been put to the Irish people and the result is that they are not to be considered Irish nationals, unless that is another vote that you will choose to ignore.
astuite 3 years ago
you are ignoring half of what i say. i will repeat, some one who is raised in the irish system. The vote you are talkin about, i think, is the refusal of irish citizenzhip to people who have children just to stay in ireland? they have no relation to someone who lives here and is raised through our system. and yes, a person who is born here and spends their life here regardless of where their parents are from, are more irish than someone who spends their life in scotland.
romanking123 3 years ago
if the irish people still say no, i will be very sad and disappointed in fellow citizens but i will accept it.
romanking123 3 years ago
And just a thought seeing as you are such a patriot, do you consider any children educated by what you call the British system, in lets say Antrim or Armagh, British? Because I think that by you line of thinking so far that you do and if so you are I think you may now realise in your heart of hearts wrong.
astuite 3 years ago
They are ruled by britain, if they are thought using the english cirriculum, they are thought the british law system,(i'm aware ours is very similar), our tax system, our voting system. Amd the items that we as irish people value everyday, someone who does not grow up amongst that does have the experience to tell me how to vote. Gerry adams is a prime example, last election on prime time,i dont think the man even knew what a tax credit is.He doesnt pay into the irish system and doesnt know it.
romanking123 3 years ago
Holy God, so lets get this one straight, Gerry Adams is not Irish enough for you? Would De Valera fall short of your exacting standards? and by your logic I guess that the Nationalist community of the North can be discarded?? Your a disgrace and just the type that would vote this treaty in and sell this country down the river just to be in with Europe. Michael Collins must be turning in his grave.
astuite 3 years ago
who said anything about being irish, read my posts. It is about someone who grows up in the irish system being far more qualified to represent irish people than someone who does not grow in the system. Surely this is a no brainer.
romanking123 3 years ago
I've read your drivel and you seem to have a really high opinion of yourself and cling to the fact that you have been educated in Ireland and in someway that makes you more qualified to comment and judge others. You also seem to have cast aside your fellow Irish men in the North of this country ( note not Northern Irl ) with your blinkered qualifications of how you quantify Irishness.
Oithe Maith agus go neiri an ta leath.
Bets are you can't even read that.
astuite 3 years ago
i'm not casting anyone aside, i'm simply saying somone who grows up in the irish system is more qualified to represent the views of irish people. and yes i can understand your primary school irish, even tho its spelt wrong.

Contradiction??

Well one of the main threats coming from both FF and FG is look at Iceland, cast adrift, and the implication is that we will be also if we don't get in line like good lads and pass this treaty, sure why are we being asked to vote again surley there is an implicit threat there alone ?? Please justify the reason for the vote to be taken again ?
astuite 3 years ago
My justification for another vote is because a huge amount of people from my own peer and family group alone did not understand what the lisbon was, by their own admission. The yes campaign did a bad job of explaining it. The no campaign made stuff up about abortion, war, taxes. The people who wrote this very complex document are going to spell it out that, it does not say we are going to war, or force abortion or force taxes. That is why i think we shud vote again.
romanking123 3 years ago
There is no justification for another vote and should it be voted in the Republics Constition should be burned in public for that is what it is effectivly, dust once this treaty is introduced. And from my peer group and family there is nothing but anger fear and a feeling of disinchantment that they can be treated with such contempt. And while this treaty does not request us to go to war it does insist that all signituries commit to a percentage og GDP to be committed to the European Defence
astuite 3 years ago
but do you think the republic constitution should remain the one document forever? What kind of impact does the contents of the document have on our every day life? surely we all want peace, justice and tolerance. It doesnt matter where this is written. Europe as i see it is the only beacon of light on this planet, there is nowhere else like us. It is the one and only place where their is majority tolerance for all people and all religions and all neighvouring countries.
romanking123 3 years ago
In a word yes, men died to have that document written and shame on anyone that should disregard it with such ease, it has an impact on our evryday lives because it is the law ot this state & is sole reason that the people of Europe have a country which requires a referendum for this treaty to be passed & it seems to me that the Eurocrats are tolerant once you happen to agree with them hence this sham of a re-run of the vote and as it happens the US is aplace where freedom of religion is tolerate
astuite 3 years ago
you see, you dont know what you are talking about. The constitution nailed to the door of the GPO is not why we have a referendum on this matter, it is because in 1987 raymond crotty brought the government to court because they made a decision on abortion. He won, and now ireland has a referendum on everything. The eurocrats have been making europe a better place for decades and they have constantly come up against euro skeptics. when have they ever done something bad for europe?
romanking123 3 years ago
Well you go ahead and vote for this treaty AGAIN and see how many referendums you will be afforded, none, and the constitution was not nailed to the door of the GPO, that was the Declaration of Independence, something your so keen to throw away. And the abortion issue is not the reason that we have referendums its written in it that we must have a referendum should a change to the constitution be implemented. That right will be gone should this treaty be accepted on that point alone it should die
astuite 3 years ago
do i have to spell everything out to you?? The creation of the concept of a referendum did not occur in 1987, but what did occur is.. for matters as trivial as this where the rest of europe dont require referendums, we do.
romanking123 3 years ago
No need to get smart, you Referendums are to be welcomed and welcomed with open arms, whats your problem with bringing an issue to the people? Would save the bother of having to run a campaign to bring in a Treaty like this i supppose. Or maybe the treaty issue is trivial to you I think I have you now skin, well the French, Dutch and Danish did have a referendum and voted it down unfortunatley their constitution is not as strong as ours and their vote was ignored.
astuite 3 years ago
If it's not changing then why the hula balu about tyhe cosessions that we are recieving and just cause don't want it ( not that they are getting the oppourtunity to vote as are none of the otehr EU nations ) doesn't mean its good, thats just a crazy mentality. And yes Europe has helped us and now we can now help Europe by upholding the legitimate vote of the French, Dutch and Danish people that has been railroaded as our is being attempted to be. & lies, lies are we cannot be cast adrift by EU
astuite 3 years ago
what does that even mean? cast adrift by the EU, are imaging something that you think is going to happen because of voting yes/no? I really cant understand this. If the lisbon goes through, Everyone in ireland is still going to go to work tomorrow and still get paid tomorrow. The only differences will be faster decision making, better structure for more members, the differences are so small, but yet ganley, sinn fein and the rest of the morons will make you believe the world is goin to cave in.

And with the threats that we will be cast adrift by Europe if we don't ringing in our ears. The founders of this state must be turning in their graves when our representitives ignore the mandate given and cosy up to the big wigs in Europe
astuite 3 years ago
the lies libertas made up during the campaign is fear mongering, children being locked up,war, abortion etc.The treaty is not changing.

Declan ganley is a british person who would be better suited to go back and live with the conservative british.
romanking123 3 years ago
He was born in Britain of Irish parents - came back to Galway at 10/11 - he is Irish.
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
he was born in Britain, therefor he is british. He has irish parents that is all. Same as any of these soccer players or anyone else, irish parents, but he is not irish.
romanking123 3 years ago
He is Irish - an Irish citizen in fact.
Tell me would you consider Paul McGrath, David O'Leary or Phil Lynott Irish?? Eamon de Valera is another. Just because one is born in a stable does not make one a horse - quote from the Duke of Wellington renouncing his Irish birth.
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
He was born in london and has british citizenship. But you choose to say he is irish because it suits you. He is not born in ireland, if he has irish citizenship, it is only a formality that he can claim because his parents are irish. It does not change his place of birth.
romanking123 3 years ago
He was born in Watford - yes - this is a town outside of London inhabitated by many Irish who work in the local motor factories. His parents moved back to Ireland a few years after - he lives in Ireland and is Irish. You on the other hand appear to be an American so piss off and murder some innoncent Muslim people you piece of yankee cockslime!!
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
hahaha! i'm not america. and you've proved what type of person you are. Your comment is more suited toward yourself. Unreal you dont even have the intelligence to have a debate about something with resorting to that.
romanking123 3 years ago
My comment was based on your logic - why do you have an American icon - you couln't be Irish then if you're not born, bred, live and work in Ireland for 100% of your life - my point is that the Irish population is made up of many people born in other countries - including Declan Ganley, Phil Lynott, Paul McGrath and David O'Leary - all of whom happened to be born in England.
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
Those guys don't try to change how the country is ran. One sangs songs, the other two play football. If any of them attempted to tell the irish nation how they should live and vote, i would feel the same. He is british person telling irish people how to vote because its suits his financial agendas to have disjointed europe. This is a typical british attitude to europe, always has been and will be for quite some time. British born ganley is no different.
romanking123 3 years ago
Irish people will not be bullied into accepting a treaty that takes away our right to a commissioner and interferes with our neutrality and anti abortion stance. The French also rejected this treaty. Sinn Fein - as anti British as you can get - opposed this treaty and sat aside Declan Ganley. Why would we give our independence to faceless Europeans in Brussels?
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
Sinn Fein dont even realise how similar they are to the brits, they are not liberal, they are just as backward as the british conservatives all be it from a catholic socialist viewpoint. This is pure scare mongering about abortion or neutrality. Our constitution requires referendums on these issues, that doesnt change. How can eu force us to act in war, just not going to happen. Also the commissioners, how can u have 27 conmmissionsers?each commissioner is finance, agriculture etc,u cant have 27plus.
romanking123 3 years ago
Politicans of Europe want to introduce this treaty by stealth - that won't work - at least if we don't like Irish politicans we can throw them out - can't do that in Europe. I mean who in the ECB has explained why the Euro is so much more stronger than the GBP which has weakened our trading position. Who has explained why its taking so long to reduce interest rates although our economy is in freefall. No one. This is why Lisbon lost - no accountability from these people to citizens.
WolfeT2016 3 years ago
Look at the reaction in Europe once Ireland voted no. France was dismissive stating that Ireland could go it alone. Was this said when France voted no? - of course not. We should refuse to push this through on behalf of the hundreds of millions of European citiznes who weren't given the right to vote.
WolfeT2016 3 years ago

I'd like to think that I and they could consider themselves Irish without someone questioning their heritage.
astuite 3 years ago
but these hypotechical people are born in glasgow, they will go to school in glasgow, they will grow up in glasgow, etc etc etc, they will be british passport holders and british citizens. they are not representatives of the irish people.
romanking123 3 years ago
"These hypotechical people" as you say are my children who hold Irish passports as it happens, speak Irish fluently and while may be British by accident of birth, are Irish by the grace of God. If you are Irish but due to economics or life are forced to leave Ireland are your children forced to forgoe their heritage ?
astuite 3 years ago
yes, you are from the place that you born. Your parents are irish that is all. I really cant understand why people think someone who is born in brazil or vietnam can be irish because their parents are?
romanking123 3 years ago
Not sure if I'm explaining myself here but I'm Irish, Crumlin Dublin 12 born and bred but my kids have been born in Glasgow and yes have recieved a British education, however they have also been educated by me and my wife, in the language which they both speak, and the culture. Are you seriously telling me that some immigrant off the boat pregnent has a kid born in a dublin hospital is in son=me way more Irish than my kids?? Who are emotionally and physically attached to the country
astuite 3 years ago
well look if you're from crumlin which incidently isnt far from where i live, you will know the irish eudcation system and outlook on life is very different from the british. I dont believe someone who is born in britain and goes through their education system has the right to tell irish people how to vote, no more than i have the right to go and tell the english people how to vote even if my parents happened to be english.
romanking123 3 years ago
Well my kids are certainly not telling you how to vote but the point that you seemed to be making was that they where in some way less Irish than someone actually born in the coombe hospital. I just cannot accept .
astuite 3 years ago
The EU may not be perfect, having so many newly developing countries brings problems. Any attempt to make EU work more efficiently gets critized by UKip, Libertas, Front national, and other right wing parties, Their stated ideal would be to have free flow of capital with no pre-conditions for human rights on any countries.
You say I hate democracy? yee fascist pricks make me sick.
yearight1970 3 years ago
so ireland votes no to lisbon but eu forces it thru anyway, sounds like dictatorship to me
utick 3 years ago
The EU is forcing it thru? do you know something I dont? tell me?

they are sneaking it through because those fascist anti-democratic bastards despise us
mav75rk 3 years ago
How are they sneaking it thru? The Irish government has done nothing yet so do you know something we dont? Tell me? BTY its the Fascists in europe are anti-Lisbon treaty. e.g. Le Penn, BNP, maybe you watch too much Sky news?
falveys 3 years ago
The EU has ORDERED the Irish government to have another referendum (as many as necessary, until there is a 'YES'). Cowen (like most European politicians) thinks his primary loyalty lies with Brussels and is now studying ways to get the Irish to accept another referendum. This is how the antidemocratic EU always works.
mav75rk 3 years ago
teh EU ordered Ireland? Can you back this up? I suspect you are a SUN reader or perhaps the daily mail? have you a credible source?
yearight1970 3 years ago
well, why didn't Cowen tell them to get stuffed? The very fact they haven't announced there won't be a 2nd referendum, means that there will be, and Cowen wants it because his Brussels' masters want it
mav75rk 3 years ago
Cowen didnt tell them to get stuffed because he wants it passed as you know. They haven't announced a 2nd referendum yet but if they do it wont be exactly the same, probably tweaked a little here and there. Then the Irish will vote and pass it and all you raving nationalist Sun readers will be so pissed off. LOL
yearight1970 3 years ago
you must really hate democracy and love the EU´s rule by decree (by an unelected class of politicians)
mav75rk 3 years ago
The EU is a union of democratic nations, it is one of the basic precondition to joining. It has helped democratise not just Spain, Portugal & Greece but gave a pathway for eastern Europe to democracy after the Soviet empire fell.
yearight1970 3 years ago
how is something democratic when the lawmaking process is moved outside the reach of democratic parliamentary control (ie EU politburo/commission and council). Where is the direct influence of voters gone when politicians appoint eachother to the overpaid cozy Brussels jobs?
mav75rk 3 years ago
It's not a direct democracy it's representative democracy stupid. The right wing UKip/Libertas war mongers that hate democracy so much have thought you a few stupid lines and you think it's undemocratic.
yearight1970 3 years ago
if you like the EU, by definition you oppose democracy
mav75rk 3 years ago
Good man, that is a very thoughtful comment LOL
yearight1970 3 years ago
it also happens to be a fact
in the EU, it isn't the people's elected representatives who make the laws, but unelected appointed apparatchiks/EU politburo kommissars
mav75rk 3 years ago
It's funny how pretend you want democracy when your profile shows you are neo-nazi right wing hater obsessed Hitler. A true Ganley democrat.
falveys 3 years ago
hey piece of crap, I like any movie that mocks hitler
unlike you collectivist Fourth Reichers, who cannot wait to centralize ALL power in Brussels in the hands of the unelected
who's the nazi now eh bastard

European Parliament is a directly elected parliamentary by the people of Europe, the Parliaments powers as limited to the competencies conferred upon states.
Maybe the Sun didn't tell you that?
yearight1970 3 years ago
i don't get you yearight, are you being sarcastic lol?

Ganley is the most Cynical politician ever, he wants a divided Europe, a stong NATO he will get more lucrative military contracts of US Gov for his Rivada Networks company
yearight1970 3 years ago
ganley is a hero and a legend
and the peoples in europe are in majority against political integration, which is why gravy-train riding politicians seek to abolish referendums
mav75rk 3 years ago
I wish you knew what Declan Ganley was like, he says he is pro European because that goes down well in Ireland. But he courts the most anti European politicians inc UKip. His basic agenda is to weaken Europes voice in the world so US is more dominant.
The payback comes in $100's Millions in luctritive US military contract for his co. Rivada Networks
yearight1970 3 years ago 2
Nonsense, it was the USA who DEMANDED European integration and made it a condition of the Marshall aid program. The US state department has always been enthusiastically in favor of European integration to the point of subsidizing PRO-EEC/ECSC/EU organizations to help undermine the sovereign nations of Europe. Read some history before you make rabid leftist claims.
mav75rk 3 years ago
Yes it was USA who helped start the EU in the first place. But I dont know where you have being hiding these last 8 years as NATO expansion not European integration is what is being promoted now from US.
It's the military Industrial complex and AIPAC pushing the agenda. BTW they are the 2 biggest lobbyists in America.
yearight1970 3 years ago
The truth is that even now Robert Mugabe has a greater democratic legitimacy than the EU. Mugabe has been elected often in the past though now his mandate has run out - The EU Commission has NEVER been elected & the peoples of France, Holland & Ireland have VOTED NO to the new constitution/Lisbon Treaty threatening the snouts of the politicians and parasites with losing their troughs on the gravy train. The corrupt central State is determined, like Mugabe, to force new votes for personal gain
Greg260146 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
The EU has all the political morality & understanding of integrity, democracy & the votes of the people as does Mugabe in Zimbabwe - praise be they do not yet have the confidence to act with the same brutality in their nacent Police State. One has to wonder, in this surveillance, bureaucratic controlled supra national zone, how long before its own Gullags are brought into being in this burgeoning open prison with its denial of democracy.
The People Have Voted NO to the Politician's ambitions.
Greg260146 3 years ago 2
Haha, you people are unbelievable!:-) It is sooo unfair that Germany - representing 82 Mio inhabitants - gets more influence than Ireland - representing 4 Mio inhabitants. This is SOO undemocratic!:-) No-no! After getting over 40 billions (Euro) over the last 35 years from the evil EU, we will protect and save our independence and (our idea of) democracy! And we will do this by not even reading the Lisbon Treaty (which is true for most of you guys). I mean: you can get off the train anytime!
maLacc 3 years ago
we did read the treaty. the contents were unreadable. the bits that were understandable were bad news for eire. so thats why we voted no. why would u vote any other way maLacc??
socall01 3 years ago
Because this and the next century/ies nations like Irland, Germany, France etc. won't be important. In a world in which the US, Russia, India, China, etc. are the dominant forces competing for ressources, welfare, etc. and in which transnational problems like environmental pollution emerge, no single European country is able to have any significant effect on world politics. In order to preserve the European culture, the "European Way of Life", we have to join forces in an EFFECTIVE and POWERFUL
maLacc 3 years ago 2
EU. We are literally between West and East (US - Russia/China). We have to overcome our meaningless national problems.
maLacc 3 years ago
maLacc i think u are a bit paranoid about china and the usa. they are not out to get europe.
anyhow if ireland had to 'join forces' with anyone it will be america
we have more in common with america than the eu
socall01 3 years ago
I don't think I am paranoid. They are not out to get Europe and they will surely give up their growth, lifestyle and wealth just to allow us to keep ours. And they are surely not only concerned about their own interests - we can see that in the discussions about environmental problems. But thanks for the real solid argument concerning the content of this discussion - and not my character. ;-)
maLacc 3 years ago
hi i respect your opinion but i really dont think you can trust europe with too much power
especially germany after the last 2 world wars
I prefer america. i liked working for them and ive always felt we are the 51 st state!
I just dont get the whole eu thing. why are we involved at all???
socall01 3 years ago 2
It is interesting to note that the clearest reasons supporting the NO VOTE are becoming ever more apparent after the event as we all watch those with their snouts in the troughs on the gravy train wriggling & squirming, bullying, threatening & lieing to try to force the Treaty into being corruptly & unlawfully even by their dishonest standards. The corrupt Politicians are SEEKING A SOLUTION - which part of NO are they too arrogant to accept we don't want a SOLUTION we want DISOLUTION of the EU.

Libertas are a bunch of corporate hatchet men.
I voted NO, but not for the reasons he is outlining, which aren't the reasons he voted NO either.
Libertas don't give a fuck about peoples freedoms unless it's the freedom to make piles of cash for their military contractor buddies.

In order for the EU to work better in the international and internal spheres, the Lisbon Treaty must be ratified. This is how EU works, each country gives away a little bit of its sovereignty to the EU in order to maintain peace and prosperity of Europe. Integration is key! Stop being a populist!
jurekb007 3 years ago
oh, is that how it works? I thought this was a treaty to end our national sovereignty. a treaty to militarise the EU, disbanding national defenses. i thought it was the end of democracy.
