I want to clarify, NGF, that I'm not in any way attacking your guitar skills -- you are clearly an accomplished guitarrist, and I have great respect for that.

However, credit should be given where credit is due. Sixto put a lot of work into this mix, just as you put a lot of work into this cover -- just as you deserve credit for the performance in this video, sixto deserves credit for the backing track.

A bunch of OCRemix/Sixto followers tell you that the least you can do is be a better person than whoever submitted the backing, and you argue that it's not your problem?

Just because the artist is generous enough to offer it for free DOES NOT mean that they no longer deserve credit for writing it. In fact, I would argue that they even more strongly deserve credit in such situations, since credit is the only payment they're asking -- and it's hardly a burden on anybody else to give that credit where it's due.

The issue here isn't permission, it's credit. I do think that by uploading one's music to the internet, one is implicitly granting arrangement/cover permission to all who care to do so. But those who perform such covers should give credit.
