I heard that since the CRH5 performs poorly and can only achieve 200km/h that they are restricted to the regular Jinghu because that's the top speed there.
Hmmm, CRH5 is said to be more qualified in cold area, so most likely used in North China, I think. I myself used CRH5 once in last August, 2009. It reached to a speed of 248km/hr on the new Qinhuangdao to Shenyang railway.
All trains even CRH1 can reach 250 km/h.
But on the Ningbo-Wenzhou i took both CRH2 and CRH1. the CRH2 stands 250 km/h (the line support i think up to 300 or more), CRH1 only 200.
CRH5 is based on the Alstom (french/italy made) Pendolino and i think is up to 250 or more...
So i think deoends on details we does not know..
