@icannotfly Estonian and Sami. More remotely, Hungarian. Even Turkish if you go back far enough. Therefore, the historical languages of the Ural Mountains... Finnish is Finno-Ugric, and Hungarian and Turkish are Ural-Altaic, but they come from some Finno-Ugric root.

From all the Finnish songs I've listened too, I'd say I and able to pronouce the words fairly easily.

It's the same with German, since I've subjected myself to a lot of German I can pronouce a lot of the words while maybe not knowing what they mean.

@petacavanagh It is not so old. It is Savo dialect, more or less as it was commonly spoken at around 1930's. And it should be for the most parts quite easy to understand for any Finn even nowadays. Some words of course are non-standard and hard to understand, but only some. And then there are of course, in this specific version, extended scat-parts (gibberish).
