@FiveCentsPlease Thanx. I thought it was a G. Please forgive my ignorance; is it Spanish-built under license and restored or a Spanish-replica? Just to satisfy my curiosity now. Thanks again.
@newsupersammyspider >> yes sir. In 1927 Messerschmitt Flugzeugbau GmbH (Me) merged with Bayerische Flugzeug (BF). In 1935 Bayerische Flugzeug became the main conceptor, so as the planes were named Messerschmitt Bf. That's why it's Messerschmitt Bf-109, and not Me-109. Simple isn't it ?
thats right but the brits had mostly luck wiht the lunatic usage of em. they had no range left barely 10 minutes fight
and when tehy got hit they landed in the channel
also the watercooled engine cost alot of pilots life, one two good hits and the cooling was over and the oil overheated.
the number1killer was the machien itself. its Spornratfahrwerk wasnt broad enough (gear) so half of all pilots died in landings and starts not in fight..
lovely sound however not quite as nice as a Merlin!!! I suppose it depends on which side you were on, but to en engineer all engines like this are music
great statement, I absolutly agree with that, if the DB 60X would have served a better regime than the f+++ing Nazis the DB sound would be like trumpets of Jericho...the Merlin sounds great, cause it served the free side and I admire all efforts ( not always the best ones) to free Europe and with that us germans as well from tyranny and terror. Best piston engine form me...the Rolls Royce Centaur used with the Sea-Fury...no side to choose here, just a orchestral sound to evaluate...
Yes of course the blades make the sound complete...same with the C-160Transall and C-130 comparision in terms of sound...the Trall sounds better (more bass) with its two engines then the C130 with her more modern blades they are fitted with....I always recon a C5 Galaxy inbound AFB Ramstein by her roaring engine sound caused by the hugte bypass ratio...so the size and numbers of the propeller blades with pistons and turboprops is the bypass ratio when it cames to jets...thx for Your comment
funny how people can overlook the killing done by warplanes and glory in the technology of flight -- this mental dissociation works best for aircraft, they are intrinsically beautiful -- by comparision there aren't a lot of Sherman & Panzer tank rallies -
Remember this; warplanes have never killed anyone, it was the PEOPLE in control of those warplanes that killed other people. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Sure, agreed - thoough I had taken a nice picture of the FW 190 in the Smithsonian annex at Dulles airport, and showed it and some other pics to people at work - two women, one Russian and one Polish, were visibly dismayed by this weapon of war that had been used against their people. Like, think of the guillotine used to execute all the French aristos in 1779 - it's an elegant progressive design, but it has a bloody history - if you'd lost relatives to it, you'd not like it much -- just sayin'
yeah that might be, but dont forget the reason why a fighter will build - to kill
but i love the bf 109 and today it has another role, the time to kill is over for her and now we can enjoy her beauty, even with a spitfire side by side!
hm, I would guess it is a G-6. the G-10 had the different ERLA-HAUBE (canopy with one strut slooping down to the rear for better visibility ), this one has the older style-version from the earlier Gs. just my 2 cents.
hey, ok nice plane, but you was born in the right era. then englich and german peoples are friends now and can see this famous planes together at some airshows
Is this 109 an F, G, or K? I'm guessing a G.

@TheSV3
G-6 constructed from a Hispano Buchon.
