@rastan1977 Plastruct is a good company that creates a variety of styrene patterned sheets. You find a decent selection at Hobbylinc(dot)com. If you do buy something there, you can enter my email as a reference (mike(at)terranscapes(dot)com) and they will give me a 5% discount on my next order. Its not much but every bit helps. :)
@PyR0Star It is for use with miniatures games. Miniatures based games are more akin to a hybrid between role playing and board games. Lots of strategy with a high hobby element.
@Grymbaldknight I'm really a warhammer fantasy gamer, but since GW games are the most widely known, they make a good reference point for scale comparisons.
I love your vids man. Always very inspiring, but the generic heavy metal is too loud! You always do a great job explaining your techniques but i cant hear ya onthis one. You still get 5 stars for fucking badassness.
Thanks for the comments. This was an experiment for having music in the background and I really didn't like it in the end so I have dropped that from newer videos. Feedback on it though is still great to hear.
very nice, but i hate modular cities. its fine for like forests, but in cities, it just looks out of place. i prefer my cities to look nice more than i like game variety. plus, i dont have anyone to play with, so i dont care!
i no what u mean. modular tables with lots of tiles so there are roads and lots of buildings looks natural but im not keen when its a flat table and a few buildings. i am not sayin ths work is bad its very impressive. just each to there own. (all u gotta do is add more buildings so the roads look more natural not huge plains of concrete
I completely agree that a more dense layout would feel more like a city. This set up is a compromise to achieve the most realistic feel on the most realistic budget. Two sets could always be purchased how ever and put together to create more defined streets for instance.
The set is listed on the site. See the 'Newest Release' page. The price for the whole set is $500. See the second of the videos (Part 2) and the web site to see the entire list of components in the set.
Adding large material first and shaking loose bits off, leaves crevices with adhesive that take smaller materials better. The final application is sand/dust to fill in the smallest gaps.
You do great job and i wanted to say that in urban ruins, most buildings are concrete. If you want to give variation, mix different ratios for greys and add rebars. Great Work 5/5. P.S. I am going to add multiple videos in aweek or two on urban ruining for 40k and different techniques to make it as realistic as can be! When i put it on i willl post it as a video responce ☺
I agree that most buildings are actually a shade of grey. I felt that in this instance, deviating from a real color scheme would improve the appearance. Looking through the Cities of Death guide, there are many instances of colored buildings and it brings real visual interest to the layout.
Looking forward to your video response. More information and ideas are always welcome.
that one green building in the middle with the giant pipe through the middle, that was custom built right? id really like something like that and i was just wondering if you guys did that
Yes, the pipe/smokestack is a custom addition. On that building I experimented with adding additional pieces to expand the set and create some different looks. I was pleased with it and other custom additions to buildings are planned for future releases.
I use a mold and then cast the craters using a combination of resin and expanding foam. I used to cast them entirely from resin and may return to that as they foam can be difficult and their size is not as large as other items.
Hi mate, great terrain i must say.Can you tell me where you obtained the styrene flooring please?

just out of interest, do you prefer warhammer/40k over other wargames, since you mention them a lot and almost always use them for size reference?
just to say i love your videos, i've never seen terrain to your standard, not even GW's gameboards.

WOW! that is a really cool barbed wire... with debris and a "fast made" look, the I beams stay perfectly with barbed wire
Thumbs up for that and for all the project :) also for the idea of making your own debris crashing molds
what brand and line do you use as a spray to texture buildings? I tried GW's but only sprays some fine sand here and there
Shannariano 3 years ago
Thank you for the compliment on the barbed wire. The spray is Rustoleum Textured spray paint. Its expensive, but produces a very nice effect.

Thought I would try a little background music to balance my muted tone, or to entertain when I ramble. :) Thanks for watching.
