Taqiyyah is a concept of Shi'aism, which is regarded by the sect of Sunnism I follow as a defective form of Islam. Taqiyyah is a concept of Shi'aism, which is regarded by the sect of Sunnism I follow as a defective form of Islam. I do not hate the Shi'ah, but to me, they are simply practicing Islam wrong and are fervent in their wrong belief. In Shi'aism the concept is still not what you described. A religion cannot be separated from how it is practised regardless of how good\bad the text is. I judge Islam on how it is practised in those countries where it is the majority religion, and what I see is not a tolerant peaceful religion. The key is as you've rightly noticed is freedom, the only freedom in Islam is the freedom to submit or die. In some cases, Taliban might have maltreated women in Afghanistan. They shouldn't have done that. Woman is to be respected and placed on high esteem in Islam. It's not like America where women are merely fuck stuff. We don't like Taliban but we would also never allow Americans to enter our lands so that they can promote sex work.
