Well, I wouldn't really call it a wrist flick because that could have the stick at any angle to the goal line/goalie preparing to shoot. What I mean specifically is that the blade of the stick is parallel to the goalie when he is squared to the shooter. Not trying to mince words but a write flick can mean other angles than what I'm talking about. I used to use stick movement, head nods, shifting my skates, anything to distract the goalie. But what Dats does is artwork!

After watching a few hours of video on Datsyuk and being a former player myself, I finally figured out how he tricks these goalies out of their shorts. There is something he does that gets the goalie to commit too soon. Goalies nowadays already commit too soon with their flop to the butterfly style but he does something that goalies rely on to anticipate a shot that puts them out of position more so he has more net to shoot at.

@seekout123 Yeah man I agree. Every goaile is laying on the ice before the shot is even off the tape. The only two goalies that aren't like that are Broduer and Miller imo. The hybrid style is the best. Go down if you have to, but stand and challenge when the shooter is to the outside, or doesn't have a great angle. How hard is that concept? They always try to make excuses saying oh it takes away the bottom of the net, the only problem they get beat high for garbage goals.

Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL. Offensively he can stay on pace with Crosby and Ovy, 3 years in a row he put up 100+points, defensively hes the best in the league, Crosby and Ovy ain't even in top 10 for top defensive players in the NHL. Datsyuk is by far the best stick handler in the game, watch his movement. Datsyuk actually plays on a penalty kill, when did you ever see Ovy or Crosby do that ? never. Datsyuk plays less minutes than Ovy and Crosby yet plays way more productive than them

@rcap05 No offense, but no. Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Ovechkin/Ma­lkin are top four, in whatever order you wish. When you get to that level of skill, you can't even try to say who's best. I will say Datsyuk and Zetterberg both seem to be more useful on defense than any other top forwards in the league. Especially Hank, as he shut down Crosby in the finals two years in a row.
