It seems to me that Steyn hasn't really made a point about multiculturalism. His suggestion that the stupidity of some student in Dartmouth is indicative of the left's ignorance is funny, but that doesn't count for intelligent criticism. Steyn would make a good comedian or DJ but his knowledge of history, culture, etc, is superficial at best. Has anyone on this page read Ian Buruma's "Murder in Amsterdam"? That is by far a better analysis of Islam in Europe and multiculturalism than this shit.

Britain is an American aircraft carrier off the coast of Europe. I know I ripped that quote from somewhere but it is true. Steyn is eloquent and does make sense sometimes but most conservatives today live under the illusion that colonialism was not that bad. Maybe they should read some book. "The late Victorian holocausts" is a good starting point.

Well, Steyn seems to be suggesting that values such as reason, logic, democracy, liberty, equality, fraternity, women's rights etc are western values. They are universal values and have nothing to do with culture or religion( Christianity or Judaism).

This is an excellent dissection of the cult of "Multi Culturalism. And Mark Steyn is right, it was created and maintained by those who are intellectually lazy - they want to feel good about themselves for being tolerant of all non Western cultures and promoting international "understanding" and of course they understand very little as they feel they don't need to study the facts of the world: geography, languages, real history. But they are PC and in power and will shout down those who stray.

Mr Steyn's last comment about multiculturalist denying reality is brilliant and it can be generalized. It has gotten to the point where you can't debate liberals about almost anything because they deny reality. You try to give facts to a liberal and they just throw slogans and generalities at you.
