The suspension of a classic VW beelte handles very well on off road conditon and muddy terrain. The torsion bar designed suspension is more sturdy and last longer. This car was perfectly designed by brilliant engineers without using computers, robots and calculators.
I REALLY LIKE THE 1967 GERMAN MADE BEETLES Australian made 1967 beetles were the same as the 1962 beetles... they were made all the same... I have a 1968 automatic beetle with 12 volts, disc brakes, two speed wipers and IRS rear suspension.. made in Germany..
The German made 67 beetles have a one year only outside door handle with a round push button.. different door glass, large windows plus many other modifications that came from the 1965-66 beetles..
Interesting to see that they painted the car with the fenders on. I thought they painted them separately and THEN put on the rubber in between the fenders.
I have a 74 VW Bug Ive had it for years.I love it. I would never get rid of it.Ive had people offer to buy it.I say No Way This Is My Baby.Cant think of Any car I"d rather Have.Long Live The VW Beetle.
i hate to say it but yuck, sorry any beetle after the 66 model just look shit. but im glad you enjoy your beetle and its still a great car casue its still a beetle, but i just feel they got a bit to modern after aronund 67.
i dont understand why you would say yuck, the vw bug shape basicly stayed the same .except for bumpers, engine size, alternater instead of generator.maybe you are thinking of the super beetle which i would agree does not look as good.
my mate just picked up a 66 beetle for $2000 and is going to spend another $1000 on it and will be in fairly good condition after that.
ok sorry i said yuck, its just my opinion that 67 or earlier are much better looking. but i still do love them because they are a beetle and i do wave to all aircooled VW's.
@simongetsbizzy I know what you mean. I bought a '66 project and have found beauty in the engineering aspect of the car. It's simplicity is it's genius. Just the way things fit together is as if it were meant to be and could not be any other way.
great stuff! having owned a 65 for 10yrs this is very interesting. love the 60s workplace: there was one guy smoking in the stamping area, and those guys with grinders without earplugs!
I am seventeen and I own a 1974 beetle :) I absolutely adore it!

Most headlinings come from Brasil or the USA..
I don't think anyone actually makes the Aust
headliners.. I don't think anyone will notice.

I own a 1978 superbeetje convertible. My dream is a pre '67 model convertible, but prices are skyhigh!
But it's a bit too much to say Yuck to a post '67 beetle. They still are beetles. Their shape is still beautiful!

The goofy brass music is the best part of this. (I was imagining it actually playing in the factory)

3000 for a good beetle is ok!!!
I drive a convertible now. Like you, I prefer a pre 67 beetle, but especially old convertible prices are skyhigh!
