his not that great... the other guy on the court is even worse... giving him easy points to finish that make him look good, but denis still has good form
This is how all the tennis greats start out. They didn't burn out, so why would this kid? You don't quit something you are this talented at, especially in high school. He would already beat the average high school tennis player.
@mattlevy12 I think thats because hes short so the trajectory of his shot is up whereas most of us and pros dont have to hit as much up in order to obtain depth. I'm pretty sure his shots are in, otherwise they wouldnt post the video
funny how his backhand is nice and low pretty flat and forehand is freakin loopy as can be and loaded up with spin. no to bash just saying. but crazy topspin for a lil guy lol
Make sure he trains his other side of the body. At that young age, he can screw up his spinal cord because of the stress of using a one handed backhand.
yeee mah daughter on facebook lmfaoo !! yo make sure u play provincials in london im gonna need a re match from like 4 years ago! XD.. i would never post vid of me playin tennis but u have fuckin shit lload of views ! r missing da tweener btw :)
that is by far the fakest and worst grunt in the history of all sports he grunts wen he volleys but not wen he serves hes good but cum on tell him to stop that fake grunt which is annoying and will get him skitted cum on does he grunt wen he lobs a ball his grunt is i never thought i wuld say this but worse than nadals
Fairly far along for an eight-year-old. Weak serve, though I'm sure that will come with age and growth. Not sure how far you are willing to travel for summer tournaments, but the Traverse City and Petoskey areas of Northern Michigan host some very competitive tournaments that would serve him well. All of the wealthy kids from the South go up to those resort towns and are fabulous tennis players. Lots of great players to help better your boy's game!
Denis Shapovalov plays in the OTA (ontario tennis association) and is ranked 3rd for Boys U12. Alot of players at my club say he's really good NOW and has a really hard, good, consistant serve. I'm pretty sure he was serving 2nd serves in this video just to get it in but he can probably serve alot better than that.
ok I normally dont say this to ANYONE i'm not kidding! But this kid has talent. I dont care how old he is or how many shots he makes or misses. but Ohh my god, he has a HUGE forehand his movement on the court is great and he runs around his back hand alot that good. He's still really yound but in a couple of years or whenever this kid will be good. just keep going , i know this is from 3 years ago, i wat to see some new ones. GOOD LUCK.
this kid is actually very bad i know a few kids at my tennis club that are his age and are better let alone at any higher level. If u look closly alot of his shots are going out and the guy he is playing with is not very good either. I was better than this when i was 8 or 9
Im sorry this kid isnt that good because i mean look at the that guy he is hitting with! The other guy isnt even trying! Notice they only show the points that he wins, he probably messed up a dozen points for everyone one point he made look good!
i think he is a good player for his age and that but when he gets to 13-16 he will already be burnt out and wont want to play. i feel sorry for all these kids.
@activesportsman , yes that is true, im 14 and have played for australia, i was training 6 hours a day at tennis and missing lots of school, recently i got stress fractures in my baack which forced me out for 8 months, i started training around 3 hours a day since i been 10 years old, and trust me, i have got very close to getting burnt out from tennis because i was doing to much training at a young age, now im still 14 and have just started training again and quite enjoying it, he is to young.
Denis' strokes are highly similar to today's new breeds of western forehand players. I do wonder how far he's come along in the past couple of years. As his size increases, so too should his ability to flatten out his shot. Too common I see young players like this carry their strokes into adulthood. It presents some struggles for later on. Excellent development for an eight year old, though.
some of his shots look out, like when hes trying to do power, they look really out, and the other guy is like tapping the ball back over, i could do shots like that too.
wow very very impressive. hes has awesome footwork for his age!! only thing i dont like is his wild forehand but everything else is top notch! good luck in juniors!
Gotta say, dam impressive I teach some kids and i gotta say dam this kid could mop the floor with some of them...some he would have a tough time with but dam good work...and with the whole grunting there was a study done in Mcleans magazine people who grunt get an average of 4 mph faster on any shot than opposed to those who dont grunt...its basically because it relaxes your muscles which allows you to swing faster. so yea I definitely advocate the grunt...keep up the good work
you keep on grunting....all of the pros that do it have been very successful, so obviously it doesn't hurt! great form for eight years old, by the way....
Do not believe them, the video only shows points easy for the child, if I edited highlight reel of my son (he has nine years of age) achieve something much better, he has won?
does he really need to be grunting that loud after every shot? hell, hes not hitting the ball hard enough to strain his body. hes just doing that cuz he sees the pros do it...
His grunt is extremely annoying. And his backswing is gigantic. But he could turn out to be a decent player. He could work some high school level players at his level right now.
This video is edited a lot, so it's hard to tell if he is consistent or if this video is only showing the points he won.
you are a very good player, i particulally like our one-handed backhand :P, but don't scream like sharapova, look at me, i'm 13 years old and i don't scream, NEVER. even if it is a very hard smash or something else, i don't scream. and the other players like it, too because then it's much quieter :P:P:P
