Great review. What happened to the TouchPad reminds me of what went down with the Pre. Lots of hype, killer OS, incredible syncing capabilities, good side products (Touchstone), but terrible timing. In the tech industry, you only have a small window to make things happen. And Soldier said it: HP/Palm were late to the game and missing features that consumers REALLY want such as tons of apps, rear cameras, sleek design, etc.

@sarasmilepiano Its like there was a huge disconnect (pun intended) between the marketing team and the engineers. Creating a brilliant product means little if you can't communicate this fact to the consumer- see Apple. HP should have known that it was in for the long haul with the TP. Apple didn't build their customer base solely on one product, and HP should have allowed time for things to develop. Perhaps the WebOS will appear on another platform and be given the second chance it deserves...

In my opinion also, the mistake HP made is to put his touchpad at the same range price as the Ipad2 or other android tablet. Webos is new in the tablet market. There isn't that many apps for it or you won't find for the touchpad as much as devices that you will find for the Ipad2. So if I have $500 I would rather buy the Ipad2.

What I think is that HP gave up too fast. they took forever to come out with the touchpad, It looked just like the Ipad1 and they should have done what Samsung did, they made their tablet thinner and lighter than the ipad 2 and its amazing.

It's such a shame about webOS... Buy all means, everyone SHOULD use WebOS over iOS or Android. The design philosophies are clearly better and the potential for serious real world power usage makes WebOS a better operating platform.

All while looking stunning, that even Apple should be in awe of how aesthetically pleasing WebOS is.

I'm sorry, but no matter what you say, WebOS was THE BEST TABLET OS out there. I own an EVO 4G, and a Motorola Xoom, and despite the hardware, webOS was the best tablet OS out there. Despite the lack of third party apps, the multi-tasking layout was un-matched.
