are people seriously arguing if it's a tuba or not? It's a tuba. Concert tuba, sousaphone, contra, even euphoniums and baritones are all tubas. Just different breeds. There's no such thing as just... a tuba. A golden retriever is a breed of dog. Just like a lab is a breed of dog. They're both dogs, ya know? a sousaphone is just a breed of tuba. I have a C concert tuba, which is also a tuba.

Dudes there are 3 main tubas.

1. Concert tuba- these you see in concert bands, generally on the lap.

2. Sousaphones- They are used as marching tubas. they make it easier than carrying a tuba.

3. Contra- a tuba that can be marched with via the shoulder

A sousaphone is an instrumen that plays in the same range as a tuba that uses valves. In terms of tone they are completely different. It's like saying a flute and a clarinet are the same because they play the same notes.
