  • brake calipers look like 10year old shimano XT 4pots with the logos machined off, AMARIGHT?

  • i bet this thing will be priced at 4500!

  • dangerous stem!

  • dangerous stem!

  • if you made one that had straight piping on the frame i would buy one

  • Does it go uphill ? And will it blend ?

  • I would immagine it's closer to a motorcycle in realistic utility rather than a lazy person's bike. Additionally the ability to pedal should appeal to the shorter distances and more casual trips.

Especially in cities in the US with shitty public transit (any real city other than Chicago) it could make the bridge between biking distance and painfully slow/expensive public transit.

  • welcome to the fuecha

  • I really don't get it. Why do people keep on trying to make bicycles more attractive by installing engines on them? The whole point of having a bike is to get tired! Thats what makes me feel good. Plus - I get from A to B in the process.

  • @smart "smart ebike: a new urban movement". Would be better: A stupid expensive toy, a new useless hype.

    For reality: see Amsterdam.

  • Rubbish I thought it would be a bike that ran on or was made of Smarties. :-(

  • But does it blend?

  • I was too cheap to buy a 'smart ebike' so instead I bought a 'stupid ebike: made in Chine by currie with a 15 pound Sealed Lead Acid Battery asymmetrically mounted in the rear rank which hurt my back. I tried to balance the bike by strapping a 10 pound bag of kitty litter to the opposite side. But only make to bike more unstable when I went over pot hole and hurt my back even more. So now I pay more for therapy than I saved by buying the 'stupid ebike' instead of the 'smart ebike'.

  • I have back problems. I need to sit in an upright position when I pedal like with a cruiser style bike.

  • nice, dont hit a pothole

  • A cosa servono questi video pubblicitari ?

  • Everybody will want electric bikes but nobody wants an expensive one.

  • very smart

  • i bet that bike is like 15k

  • The bike is overall good I only have one question I've the energy is coming from the wheel moving and is connected to the wheel then what do you do if you popped a tire???

  • The double piston hydraulic brakes Magura Gustav M are excellent, I've got the same!!

  • if santa is listening

    :-)

  • Because america needs fewer people using the pedals...

  • since this bike wouldn't fit into the boot of my smart fortwo, I wouldn't call it smart !!! c'mon guys, you need more creative than that!

  • another luxury toy....

  • This looks amazing, however I must ask: What about luggage racks? You're going to need a rack for a commute; most people at least carry a lunchbox, briefcase, etc. Hopefully there are racks offered or at least holes to screw in other manufacturers' racks. Looks like an apple computer you can ride....but I need luggage racks!

  • One thing I wonder: What about luggage racks? If it's going to be a commuter bike you'll need a place to put a briefcase, lunchbox, etc. My bike has a front and rear rack I use for groceries, etc. This design looks like it's not made for bolting on racks from other manufacturers. This is an important feature: What kind of $4000 bike does not have luggage paniers?

  • porque ningun diseñador de bicicletas electricas no pone atencion a la comodidad y la posicion de manejo? será que no andan en bicicleta? ninguna de las e bikes que vi tiene una posicion ideal de manejo.

  • lot of design and little comfort in the position.

En mi idioma original: demasiada energia puesta en el diseño pero poca atencion a lo que significa estar bien sentado y confortable para andar sobre la bicicleta grandes distancias.

  • That is one fucked screwdriver

  • Woow !! Good

  • Somehow i really feel that only super dumb people buy "smart" branded items.. Like the Car that gets the same MPG as a civic, costs more, seats less, doesn't accelerate as quickly and is about as safe as being on a moped.. Now from the makers of that, lets build a bike that probably costs more, is not as fast, and doesn't last as long as a stealth Bike. Just sounds a little dumb to me..

  • @TheManInDboX huh... the video is about a bike not cars, plus the speed of bikes is a small range, with a bmx bike you can go 15 mph max maybe while a top of the line racing or road bike possibly 25 mph average, not much of a big difference so WHO cares, if you're using a bike to travel its because you are taking the alternative to gas power. Smart cars ... and even bikes are not efficient because the market is controlled by people with your similar mind set sir.

  • open your mind and also open your wallet

  • does it fly :)

  • how fast??

  • ewww.. much prefer the look of the DIY ebikes than this thing. But hipsters with deep pockets will no doubt love it.

  • S.M.A.R.T.= Small Men Are Real Thinkers!

  • No suspension? Lame.

  • @kramnodd9 suspensions are not good when you are commuting , they take energy out of you because as you try to leave your push down ratter than pushing forward .

  • @wisdomandchange777

    lol.. what?

  • @kramnodd9 i said suspensions are not good for commuting , ask any real cyclist ( not you ) if this its truth or not , when you try to leave all the force you put on the bike goes towards the ground when the bicycle has suspensions , bicycles with suspensions are not good for commuting , hard to understand ? .

  • @wisdomandchange777

No, the force goes towards the wheels. The suspension makes no difference to the speed. Maybe you're thinking of full suspension, I'm talking about front only.

  • @kramnodd9 AGAIN you are WRONG .. and im sure you meant both front and rear so be honest at least once .. anyways front or rear both are not good for commuting and yes the force you put into the bike DOES go into the ground even if its only front suspension .. the initial push means a lot when commuting so it does make sense than the bike has neither suspensions ... plus this bike its not for jumping its for speed . now if you want to go jumping around not motorized with suspension might be Bett

  • $1300 or about i bet

  • @ezzysex lol more like $3,000 minimum, but hey i could get surprised now and then... but 2,500 is the lowest i see this(in a dream)

  • Poor design. No suspension and no seat stays, which means almost all the weight being forced on the rear swingarm/chainstay. Even if it was made from some ridiculously strong material, the ride quality would be quite harsh unless you only road it on smooth roads.

  • @marlo916 Some people ride stifftails. I guess you're not one of 'em.

  • This will most likely retail aound 4,000 min. maybe 3,000 if i have dream.

Surprise me if i am wrong LOL!

  • @dansl70 But at what price? I wouldn't give this a second glance for anything over 500 dollars...not a chance. I will ride a new 250 dollar mountain bike and get alot more exercise.

  • it's just a waste of time and money

  • e-pretty, but are they e0affordable?

    ;)

  • Electric bikes are for lazy faggots

  • @ceffle They are also made for Atheists (often confused for lazy faggots).

  • @mookixox Why would Atheists be lazy?

  • @mookixox How is your comment not discriminating or defamatory drivel?

  • @ceffle the exercise is more than you might realize , plus we could go ahead and say the same about cars and it would be more accurate .

  • @wisdomandchange777 Agreed here.An ebike is as efficient a vehicle as a regular bike. The big advantage is that it is not as strenuous as a regular bike to ride (easier up hills or when desired a level road).A car (Sedan) is about 13 times less efficient at transporting a single rider (driver).Much less pollutants in addition to alleviating traffic gridlock. There is a limitation of range and speed though but an ebike is also much more economical (can even be recharged by solar battery arrays).

  • @ceffle or for those with bad legs or out of shape or someone that needs cheap transportation i'm just saying fyi your comment just shows what kind of person you are have a nice day because you are dead inside i'm sure

  • @ceffle what if their skinny and fit? they still considered lazy?

  • @ceffle then why are you waching this? faggot?

  • Oh God an IPHONE for the bike >< Talk about a bloody iphone...

  • @zpkpk They are only trying to find the hipster appeal.

  • @surlyuser87 an aerospoke (aka aerojoke) on the front could do the trick lol

  • 0:57 how many accumulators`?

How much power has one accumulator

i think the technic of Engery storage have to be quadrupled

  • Probably like 3 grand In price. Minds as well buy a used 250 moto

  • engine in wheels= inefficient. But nice looking bike!

  • Machined wheels? Why exactly?

  • Song title?

  • this is going to be expensive...

  • this is going to be expensive...

  • It is so beautiful and elegant not unlike Apple's products. I am drooling for one.

  • wow

  • @dansl70 Since when did motorist follow the law? Nothing in your statement I have seen motorists NOT do. The kicker is that bicyclists have the same laws to follow as motorists. It's just the cops are to busy "frying bigger fish" to care. So, it is illegal for bicyclists to do all that you said besides having a license, registration, and insurance. Also, 50cc (or smaller) motorcycles don't need all of that either, but I don't hear anyone gripping about them lol.

  • Looks very nice, but does need a full suspension system.

  • whats the price ?

  • Ich Beglückwünsche Sie zu diesem sehr formschönen gelungenen Schritt der Urbanen Zukunft!

  • Very cool

  • The bike is nice. But for the asking price I expect a suspension bike and a far greater speed. For the same money I can build a 40+mph bike with off the shelf parts.

  • Wow...

That's by far the best looking ebike (and possibly bike) I've ever seen.

  • Muy atractivo y modernoso diseño.

  • angelman0102002: The bike is available in the first half of 2012. Contact your local smart dealer!

  • can you help me , how to own ebike?

  • Consider it nitpicking as it's purely about the style of this video, but did you guys really have to wait for the very last 10 seconds of the video to actually show the actual bike in full and what it looks like?

I got curious, but turned off by the very long introduction of zooming and buzzing through out of focus things.

I love the idea of the eBike though, so please consider this a friendly comment.

  • MODENAS Malaysia launched it first e-bike known as CTric in Malaysia recently.. Priced at RM4888 on the road n it's legal on the road in Malaysia.... sorry.. not e-bike... it's a e-moped

  • MODENAS Malaysia launched it first e-bike known as CTric in Malaysia recently.. Priced at RM4888 on the road n it's legal on the road in Malaysia

  • OMG... WANT!

  • Super Design respect! Good Job

  • in some countries this bike would be stolen in less than 2 minutes of taking it out for a spin :))

  • you should start making light weight aerodynamic cars instead. that would be smart.

modern EV1 replacement would be hugely successful. if you were smart...

  • solo le faltaron las bocinas ;)

  • That's a lovely city bike (alas, a bit heavy, I presume)! Is the iPhone app available in the App Store?

  • I want.

  • I travel 1120 kilometers per mounth around Paris and it's banlieue to go to work.

Give me one, I'll represent Smart, cause I am ! ;)

  • Oh, magnifiscent work, by the way ! (y)

  • @Sagitarius2501, you do NOT qualify for this bike, DUDE!

  • @Nudelsalatbomber do you ?

  • Very nice frame il pass on the electric part make a carbon fiber frame just like this that supports regular shimano or SRAM gears and il buy one any day

  • This just does not fit the type of bike that I am looking for. I want a bike that pedals itself and involves no pyhsical labor whatsoever.

  • @dansl70 I REALIZE UR BEING LITE HEARTED BUT I WANT A EBIKE that can do at least 30 but we need to stay under the radar as far as police are concerned ie not stray outside the law too much or they will start testing if bike capable of more than law allows (15mph uk) and start to confiscate bikes

  • HOW MUCH!?!?!?!

  • guessing the price, id rather have a badass mountain bike

  • Nothing is more elegant and energy efficient than the initial bicycle concept. Adding to it is an interesting exercice but it remains waste in my opinion (consuming more energy, more plastic and more toxic metals (batteries) sounds a little off to me)

  • @louisbrillon some batteries can be rejuvenated and some of them last as long as three years and although they are a bit expensive they are actually worth it .

  • Pretty & good hydraulic brake system, Magura Gustav M

  • dude... i want the song....

  • waw, what a work ..........i want one

  • Dear Santa...

  • @dansl70

Nice work, you literally just described any normal bicycle.

It's like bikes are new to all of you fat people, and you're only interested because it has an electric motor.

  • What happens if it rains? Poor Iphone... :-(

  • @alvisepagani A little rain shouldn't hurt an iPhone.

  • @Demache92 Come on... I use my bike to go to work and it is about 3,5 miles, do you really think that 25 minutes of rain won't hurt an iphone? it's ridicolous to put an iphone on a bike. What about the sun? it'd probably ruin the display at lightspeed... nice design, stupid idea: many people do not move by bike only in nice and sunny days...

  • @alvisepagani Water can't hurt a phone unless it gets inside of it (which I suppose is possibly through the headphone port or earpiece). I could possibly see 25 minutes possibly doing some harm. But every phone I have had has been nearly drenched in rain water, and never affected it one bit. Worst that would happen, is the water would mess with the conductivity of the capacitive screen.

And the sun isn't going to ruin a LCD screen unless it sat in the sun all day.

  • Call it say £1500 shall we say minimum plus ur £500 iphone ....Cycling down the road in that would be like oooh look at me look what I got and u havnt- before someone less fortunate gave you a smart slap taking £2000 while u nurse ur smart blackeye - thanks Smart very clever lol

  • @MrSarbgill Yep no point having anything nice it will get stolen, even my 30 yr old BSA racer got stolen, damn thieving chavs all over the country, unless you are prepared to fight to keep hold of this bike then dont bother.

  • bound to be overpriced.

  • @dansl70 yeeeeeeeaaaahhh i like ur style buuuut not quite.

  • FUTURE-PURE. you start it with the iphone. you lock it with iphone. you track it with iphone. you self-test it with iphone. you service it with iphone. you charge the iphone with the smart bike. very smart indeed !

  • How about a "smart" full suspension? Looks real pretty, but not practical on real world streets.

What's the "smart" performance in top speed & range?

  • @kauaikit The smart ebike offers a choice of four power levels with the fourth and strongest level providing maximum pushing power. Depending on the level of assistance the bike has a range per battery charge of 30, 50, 70 or 90 kilometres - more than ample for the distances covered in everyday use. • Хуй-ня какаето(((

  • Geez how many dollars are these units ?

  • Sehr interessant! Als Radsportler und Smartfahrer würde ich das Bike sehr gerne live erleben!

  • its a mugging magnet

  • It looks fantastic! Gimme one !! :D

  • I want one now ! I think the current crop of electric bikes suck and this seems to be one of the first that has been designed from the ground up.

It does need to have a battery that can be charged away from the bike however, unlike the escooter, as many potential buyers wont have direct access from their mains to where there bike is kept overnight.

Smart, please let me know when this is available !

  • I would buy it, too. Looks nice and has everything you need! I promised to never buy a car in my life, so I need a bike like this!

  • When available for sale in Hawaii? Buyer here!

  • That thing must be fast... otherwise the brakes are plain overkill!! Those are rated for tandems!! Cool, Nicolai!

  • yeah yeah yeah! Nicolai and Smart = great connection!

  • how coool is that :D
