This may nor be the best starter plane for novice flyers, I started on the hobbyzone champ. A really good beginner plane and still fun to fly. Then upgrade to something like this after mastering the champ.
@quagmire475 probably not. this plane is quite small. I don't know for certain whether you could but thats just my guess. I'd also factor in the weight of the camera & extra battery. I'd assume that it'd take away a bit of the plane's agility/manuverability but then again if you search long enough you may be lucky to find something that could work. good luck in your search. As far as the plane itself, Its a really badass little plane. Ive seen them in action & am dying to get my hands on one.
@bakonlicious For a good beginner plane, go with the Vapor/Night Vapor for indoor, the UM J-3 Cub for a small starter, or the J-3 Brushless / HobbyZone Super Cub LP for a larger one. All of these are wonderful starters and will help get your skills ready for 4-channels like this.
@bakonlicious Keep an eye out on eBay and other places like RC Groups too! Lots of people offer their planes as they grow out, so I got my Vapor for a cool $90, and I only had to repair the rudder. A bit of clear packing tape and you're done! And yes, the Ember 2 and Super Cub are still awesome. ^^
not the greatest starter plane but it can be done with some rc simulator time before taking it up for the first time. The plane is very very light (1.1 oz) and is tossed and turned easily by any wind gusts. The positives are that it flies easily and turns on a dime. It flies in tight spaces and if you get in a bad situation, throttle down and correct your mistake. Landing is easy when you nose it into the wind and belly land without gear. Rebuilt it once already. Bought as first plane!
I have been looking at buying a rc plane.....I have had basically no experience in flying rc air planes but I was wondering,, would this be a good starter rc plane?.
I'd recommend the hobbyzone super cub as a starter, unless you are just interested in micro rc planes like these. if you want a micro starter, get the micro citabria (i think parkzone makes it, not sure though)
noo way.. for starting, don't even think about anything with a wingspan smaller than 40''. An LT-40 is hands down the best trainer out there, but if you cannot afford glow, then go for the Nexstar.. its also very good, and it has AFS, a good learning tool.
if you really want an ultra micro go with the j3 cub, but otherwise your best bet at first is any j3 or obvious trainer. Flying is a lot harder than you think and your first plane wont last. Just start with an easy flyer at first and you wont spend as much on parts and will learn well. Try to stick with a 3-channel, and have fun.
it should be clearly stated, that this variant is much stronger as compared to the available one on market. The original gies much slower. But cute planie ;-))
amazing video. I watched because I was just looking at this plane. I have done RC Helicopter for some time, and haven't done planes for over 5 years. I just got a parkzone ember and have had fun flying it, but now want to get something faster. This looks like a perfect step up.
yes, this would be a wonderful step-up. I myself only got an ember 2 weeks ago. I learned on it(didn't break a single part). I just got my Sukhoi about 2 days ago, and just took the maiden flight today. It flies great, and is easy to control after training on a 3CH. No damage on first flight. Make sure you fly HIGH! Altitude is your friend. You can correct mistakes at high altitude, whereas if you mess up close to the ground, then you crash. Get 30 feet high at least then start turning.
Would the controller that comes with the Hanger 9 PTS Mustang work with the BNF?

I would suggest the ember 2 if you want to start out on a micro flyer. The hobbyzone supercub if you want to do bigger.
