This whole entire series has been practically my relationship with my current girlfriend. I'm Asian and she is white and my parents tell me to date someone else asian. Its been really hard but this series (which i watched a long time ago and loved but didn't quite understand the message it was telling) has taught me that bad things DO happen and i just have to brave them out in order to obtain what i believe is right. As Doki and Nabi get further into their relationship, the community goes against rabbit and cat romancing. Nabi gets frustrated by this, and is pent up with rage and despair when his girlfriend gets injured due to their relationship. Wanting to protect Doki, Nabi cuts off any communication with her, and Doki doesn't know why. She gets depressed when her hedgehog died and wanted to go to Paradise with Nabi, but he doesn't answer, so she goes alone. That's how I see it.

I think even though interracial marriages were unbanned in the 1960s, there is still racism, discrimination, and prejudice for being different. And it's even more visible in East Asian culture (I have experienced it). Some places still say 'no foreigners' and put signs in English and blame everything on the foreigners...when it may be their own people doing the same thing. It's ridiculous. But I'm glad the creator decided to work on this subject.

Tribalism (ie. racism) was prevalent among ancient Greeks, an issue very popular in the literature of the time. In pre-Renaissance Venice (ie before 'modern' philosophies formed) there were restrictions on intermingling between cultures.

My issue is that you're saying love and equality are not reasonable, and not right.
