My favorite scene in this movie, when the doctor truly displays his anger towards someone who ridicules and humiliates and torments John. My favorite line "YOUR THE MONSTER! YOUR THE FREAK!" I just don't think it could have possibly been said ANY better. Honestly, I think this could be said about anybody who goes to extremes to cause pain to others in order to fulfill their egotistical needs

I know this scene is ficticious, but it is still deeply upsetting. I cant ever watch it, and have to skip it.

Saying that, know one knows what humilations Joseph did suffer, esp while in the workhouse, poor soul, while I am sure it was nothing like this.

I love the way Hurt ''make believes'' with the dressing case, not unlike Joseph would do in private, acting out the life he should have had - the handsome young man about to go out ''on the town''. So sweet, and so poignant.
