  • its been a while since i watched this last but i needed something to draw a tear, and this did the trick i adore the way you took what was alreading a heart breaking scene and then gave it more emotional gravitas by the use of music, the effects are still wonderful and subtle...faultless

  • brilliant edit really made it more real and personel thank you

god music is so powerful isnt it

  • What's with the new Who music?

  • Nicely done

  • And stop swearing too.

  • whats this music called ????

  • Love this revamp, well done. The music adds so much to it.

Apologies if someone else has said this, but apparently the Brig's line of, "Well, here we go again" was an adlib. It could be true asNick Courtney came up with a classic in The Three Doctors when looking out on a deserted alien landscape, "Looks like Cromer" (a place in Norfolk, England).

  • Hey!!! At 2:20 they had the music from Cristopher Eccleston's first Dalek Story. When the Dalek opens itself up and the Doctor says: "Something new...I'm sorry."

  • And also from the episode "Doomsday".

  • how old was JON Pertwee when he left DW

  • @pantyhse I think he was about 55. He was born in 1919 and left the role in 1974, so he was pretty old considering the whippersnapper we have in the TARDIS at the moment! (Who, no pun intended, is doing a pretty good job of it too.)

  • WOW! This must have taken ages. Especially matching Lis Sladen's eyes with the glowning thingy.

  • Was the music edited if so that was cool

  • You did a Brilliant job mate! The music and effects made this scene more powerful and touching for me. I actually had a slight tear myself. Thanks for posting! ;)

  • @GallifreyFilms shows you the power of music in the right place :)

  • That was wierdly good...

  • That was amazing :D

  • Oh. My god. AWESOME :D It's as if Russell T Davies was producing the show in 1974!! Was half expecting Tom Baker to shout "GERONIMO" at the end...

  • @billyh88uk I think Moffat write that particular "Geronimo". That being said the musical additions are certainly awesome.

  • I love it :)

  • Beautifully done.

I give this four jelly babies out of five.

  • Excellent editing...

  • Planet of the Spiders is a fun story but I feel that the regeneration scene itself was the most boring in either the original or new series. Although the previous regeneration story The War Games did not actually show Patrick Troughton change into Jon Pertwee, it was still done in an creative and entertaining way. There was no glow or burst of electricity with the Jon to Tom regeneration just a slow fade from one to the other.

  • @TRANZEURO Although the effect itself is bad, the actual performance and direction of the regeneration is actually (And this is a word I NEVER use) heartbreaking, you actually believe the Doctor is dying.

  • @TheOnComingStorm121 Okay you're right. I'll give you that.

  • Good video, like the effects but not sure the music really fits tbh.

  • I brought this on video recently and I thought the story is a great lead up but the regeneration itself is a fizzer. I hope they do CGI it taking a maor clue from you but I also hope they make a movie edit of it - it's a really key episode.

  • The improved effects are cool, but the ongoing NuWho background emo music got on my wick.

  • what music from the new series called ?

  • The Lone Dalek

  • Brilliant, well done

  • Uh guy's... Seriously. You don't know each other so there's no point in arguing over something that I can't read about anymore because you've left so many bitter comments. I like the vid by the way. Nice touch.

  • Watching the story, the added music to ram the emotions down our throats isn't needed. The story and acting do enough to convey the situation.

  • Mulett, I always come back to this video now and then, and my breath is taken away every time.

    Brilliantly done!

  • Stop arguing over youtube you fucking children.

  • here here!

whats the saying, arguing on the internet is like competing in the special Olympics, you may win, but you're still retarded :-D

  • @YeahItsKurt back to you

  • ... What

  • You sir, are an utter retard.

  • Listen here you stupid fuck, the title says it all. Obviously it's from Doctor Who. Was you looking up clips about gay old disabled men and found this? You "fort" (it's thought, you illiterate fuck) it was something funny from the thumbnail? My god boy, can you even read? It Says Doctor Who. Do you even know what Doctor Who is? Maybe not, because your brain is so fucking small that a clip from the 70s is old and incomprehensible in your eyes.

  • This comment was a while back? You must be drug fucked as it was only 2 days ago. It's an excuse to say that it's the internet and you don't have to spell properly.

You didn't read the top part. What a wanker. That's what titles are for, so you know what it is. Derrrrr.

I might be a nerd, but I certainly ain't fat, you dumb fuck.

  • No!!! FUCK YOU!!! And don't call me a cunt you pipsqueak. You're just a little boy with a fucking huge mouth, who thinks he can get away with saying what he wants over the internet.

What an excuse that 2 days is too long to remember what you've said. You're so full of shit, it isn't funny. You obviously have very selective memory. One day, your mouth is going to get you killed. It's not a threat, it's more like higher because of your attitude.

  • @Krowzak this comeback made my day ! bravo sir bravo!

  • Why exactly would you want to watch a "funny" video about old disabled people anyway...? Well, I suppose someone with your brain capacity would tend to find stuff like that amusing.

And 1974 was hardly "old people days".

  • because obviously i would want to wach it... i thought it was a video of funny pictures of old people or disabled people so i thoght it would be comedy

  • @Toribot well, I was "4" but if it's any consolation, I thought it new wave at the time. I hate(disagree agreeably) with David Tennent fans (who suck.)

  • @fucheduck my(mother's) neighbor(when I was a boy living with my folks at'4) was the spitting image of Nina Thomas, Queen Thalira.(then) though I'm not from UK.

  • @Pipweed My god, you really are a disgrace to the human gene pool arn't you.

  • Of course the music is too loud ... that's how it's done in the new series. A pitch-perfect blend of new and old, I dare say!

  • It is amazing how the right music increases the emotional barring on something.

  • Music was too loud, aside from that - good vid

  • is that me but was that herr flick?

  • Superb! Just use the original music for the closing credits, methinks. ;-D

  • That was pretty good.

I am surprised Kan'po has not been in the series at some point, he probably would have refused to fight in the time war, and because he is a mystic probably can choose whether or not he can be detected by timelords (or anyone).

  • its amazing how just changing the music changes the quality of a clip this is ten times better then the orriginal!!!!!

  • This is my favorite part in the entire Dr Who saga...there is nothing like the original, but I like this...music may be a little too loud, though...but I'm over it...thanks Mulett, it beefed it up a tad!

  • The music murders this. Great effects though.

  • Well edited in sound and effects, congratulations. : )

  • surprisingly well done

  • Another fantastic creation. I hope my relatively primitive creations are lucky enough to pale in comparison.

  • A Station in Chicago used to put the last versoin of the them song on old episodes like this.

  • Well done!

  • I noticed how the brigadier's hair changed in this season to longer and Sarah's hair is shorter that the later seasons.

  • I saw this episode after the first episodes with Tom Baker. They did not say how many generations a time lord had unil "The Deadly Tom Baker episode Assain" which had the master who reached the end of his regenerations. Not bad and I like the one this was changed than the one for Peter Davison. It was changed to look like the one for the 9th Doctor when I knew it only looked like that because of the cituation.

  • I meant it was the Tom Baker episode "The Deadly Assain".

  • All that music is a terrible annoyance. It wasn't on the original. And the original is best.

  • The music makes it so much more emotional, packs such a punch. Glad you fixed up the regeneration. Yep, its such an anti climax after Jon and Liz's wonderful acting.

  • The sad music in this makes me want to cry.

  • David Tennant is the 9th regeneration, 10th incarnation. After Matt Smith, there will be two more doctors. Hopefully, the doctor can regenerate beyond that set number.

  • yeah. Theres bound to be some sort of thingy mc bob that extends him or something. Maybe the Time War had an effect?

  • mate you deserve a pat on the back for this vid it is excellent! well done

  • Hey guys, this isn't really thedoctor388, this is his 11-year

-old sister (He got me hooked early) and well...

wow, just wow, this is AMAZING! this is a REALLY good

job, you sir, are an artist. thanx for listening! <3

  • Have to agree with Clayton Hickman on this one, the performances by Lis Sladen and Jon Pertwee are superb and the scene is wrought with raw emotion. However the simple vision mix of Pertwee into Tom is a massive anti-climax, this was a welcome view.

  • Great job!

  • when david regenerates into matt smith it will be his 11 regeneration, meaning he can only regenerate once more after that, cuz it should be 2 more regenerations left, but when the daleks shot him he still used up a regeneration just not changing his look

  • True, but as long as the series makes money and is popular, I think they're going to have it where he can suddenly regenerate many times and personalities. But, if they do decide to stay to the strict 13 lives, then that might explain why the rumor that Smith has to do at least 3-5 seasons.

  • We now know that MS has signed a three year deal with the beeb, for £600,000. so he'll be here for at least 3 years...

  • £600,000 for 3 years? Thats not a lot considering how much David Tennant got for the specials!

  • that was so good,well done/

  • Is it sad that this made me cry, the music is just PERFECT!

I'm just discovering the classic series. I love the Sarah Jane, Tom Baker combo! He was the very first Doctor I saw. Love it!

  • Much Better, Great Job!!

  • I'm no Dr. Who fan, but have a question. IS the doctor an immortal?

  • Unfortunatley, no. He can regenerate 12 times (13 incarnations). However, his race, the Time Lords can give complete new life cycles using their powers.

He can be immortal but he isn't at present.

  • Well, he's at regeneration #10 soon.....he's starting to run out. He's going to have to come with something for little problem one day.

  • basically the 12 regenerations , 13 incarnations limit was imposed by the timelords, Rassilon could and had indeed gone beyond 13 incarnations and so has the Master. So to presume the Doctor can't go beyond 13 incarnations seems presumptuous to say the least. However he may not know that he can go beyond 13.....

  • He can regenerate 12 times meaning he has 13 lives but after that he dies, and right now he's his 10th life, he regenerating into his 11th life in a couple of episodes

  • You may want to remove that...as that still may be considered a spoiler to some (don't worry, you didn't ruin it for me)

  • also, in the case of the Master (4th doctor era) he used up all of his regenerations and had to "steal" bodies in order to continue to live.

  • no

but he can live for 100's of year befor he die's

right now he is in his early 900's

  • I question the 900 part...since in Trial of a Timelord had the Doc say he was already 900. I'm guessing the Doc lied about his age in the 2005 season.

  • WOW ! .

  • I think Jon Pertwee would approve of this music. Thanks.

    Rodney

  • the music was brilliant really goes well with the scene, the effects were amazin how they were placed perfectly within the scenes. 1 of the best updates for a doctor who scene!

  • Very, very nice job, but I prefer the simplicty of the original.

  • "Look after him"

  • amzing video love it hope they use this on dvd alternative version .....

  • Brilliant job mate! This is just the kind of thing the old series needs - I wish someone would re-issue all the original episodes with better cuts, updated effects and newer music. Those old eps deserve some of the same production value the new series enjoys.

  • whats music is used at the end the one thats used at the end of doomsday whats it called on the soundtrack

  • It's called The Lone Dalek on the soundtrack.

  • I think the changes made here underline why David Tennant's Dr and stories are so crap.

Far too much overbearing, sentimental music, naff special effects. You can't beat the old days. One star.

  • Affirmative.

  • I love what you've done with it and to be honest if there's a CGI option on the DVDs I take it and I am an old school fan. I think the music and effects fufill the original intent and enhance the way it communicates.

  • PGPinyourpants - I can see the point you're making, making but not all Whovians like to see Classic and NuWho spliced together!

Yours, a bitter old school fan - as you'd put it.

  • LOL Got to love the Brigadier!

    "The Doctor is alive-"

    "No, you're wrong, He's dead,"

"All the cells of his body have been devastated by the Metebelis crystals but you forget, he is a TimeLord. I will give the process a little push and the cells will regenerate. He will become a new man,"

    "Literally?"

"Of course he will look quite different,"

    "Not again" ~~~~~

"Look Brigadier, look! I think its starting!"

    "Well, here we go again!"

  • Got to be the second most upsetting regeneration in doctor who history (next to the Tom Baker/Peter Davison regeneration. But I honestly think that the movie could have been alot better. I say they make a Time War movie. That would be awesome

  • Incredible remix! I love the new special effects, and the music couldn't have been selected any better! Five stars!

  • A note to bitter old school fans/haters: Mulett is the only person on Youtube who even bothered to post this regeneration clip.

Instead of attacking someone else's videos, why not post your own to show these young upstarts why the older episodes were better than the newer ones? I love both series, but the older clips can be very hard to find.

  • That's so fabulous

  • Personally i think you have done a cracking job on the whole scene, the new series music and the new FX do the well acted scene great justice indead - would be nice as as a dvd extra

  • Nice Job!

  • without a doubt the saddest death scene for any of the doctors, made so by the sheer talent of the actors (the line 'a tear Sarah Jane gets me every time)

and then its a tie between parting of the ways and caves of androzani made great by the beautiful self sacrifice of the Doctor for his companions (Peri/rose), thos i belive are the only really sad regen scenes although Logoplis tried

  • this is the first time i've seen the third doctor regeneration in full, and it made me a bit tear full...

  • the new music you used from the new series is, frankly, crap! generic symphonic dribble!!

the original series' charm is the electronic soundtrack, thats what the new dr. who series lacks..lets remember this is sci-fi, what better music than electronic could be used??

besides that, i like this clip very much.

  • I agree.. Crap. And thats an understatement. This new generation of Who fans just don't get it do they? The new series sucks at best & therefore lacks much more than the music!

It lacks a mature Dr, a male companion perhaps? A more Haunting Theme.. Oh I could go on 4ever but I can't cause this clip is doing my head in! Ruined an otherwise good clip.. I'm outa here.

  • Agreed. I'm one on the new generation but the first time I saw Doctor Who was a year after I was born and I saw the Paul McGann movie. Since then I've been a Who fan but the new series is just not the same...

  • Nice one m8. You do us old & loyal followers proud. The movie was crap aswel but Paul Mcgan had the right idea tho. Oh & if you like the who theme.. Check out my remixes 'loop in time' & 'Dematerialazation'. All for fun init!

  • Thanks, I will. Your not going to believe this but my dad says that he was amased because one of my first words was TARDIS!

  • I agree to some extent, I wouldn't go as far to say the The New series sucks but lacks most most of the things the original had, It's more Kid friendly, I remember being TERRIFIED Of "Image of The Fardahl" (specifically the scene where the Fardahl rises up from the Pentagram in Part 3), Then When I watched "Blink" Which was supposed to The Scary episode of the New Series, I didn't even flinch at the weeping angels. Plus The daleks really aren't really scary anymore

  • The Daleks have probably been done to death or done too much too.

  • Agree that the Daleks are over-used. The show could stand to leave them alone for a series, at least.

CANNOT agree that the new series sucks, though - it's great! Electronic music?? If we were still in 1975 then sure, why not. The programme has moved on. It was mindless adhering to the old ways that turned the show into a boring continuity mire in the 80's and eventually got it taken off air.

  • Excellent! I was six years old when the third Doctor regenerated. Came as quite a shock! This update is very well done. I thought the third Doctor's end was so in character - facing his fear was better than just going on living, as he himself said.

    Thanks!

  • Congratulations on an excellent piece of work! JP deserved so much more than a mere crossfade...

  • the scene is excellent. keep up with the updated scenes! they're great!

  • ohhh sarah jane was gorgeous

  • Whats the song called?

  • "The Lone Dalek" It's on the 2006 Doctor Who Soundtrack.

  • Dunno why the regeneration CGI had to be imposed on it - the original scene was fine, i grew up thinking that every regeneration was different ( i.e. Different life) until the last, but these days we have to have everything 'themed'. Boring.

  • So very beutiful. It's so sad to see dear old Jon die. But then again, it's nice to welcome Tom :D

It's disgraceful that poor Colin (MY doctor) never had a proper goodbye scene.

  • dont worry we gave him a bloody good send off at the convention that year we all jumped out dressed as cybermen,he almost shat in his purple trousers,ha ha .

el vino did flow that night ,i saw one guy throw up on a girl dressed as iccybona from episode 41 lol . colin left early for some reason, probably couldnt party as hard as us who-ites then again-who can?

  • Hm, I dunno, the music behind it doesn't really fit the mood.

Not in the whole 'melodramatic' argument but it just seemed a little out of place with the performances the actors were giving. Maybe a more contemplative selection would work because the current music choice sounds too 'awe-inspiring' whereas these characters are being 'reflective'.

  • Jon's matched, but otherwise agreed.

  • You're more than welcome.

  • This. Is. Genius.

  • Actually, I think the "new" music fits perfectly- brings out the emotions already in the scene. It's supposed to be melodramatic! It's Doctor Who! And the f/x were pretty cool too.

  • has anyone got full episodes of the classic doctor who please reply

  • Eh, it kinda doesn't match, makes it seem melodaramatic. I like how there's always music in the background of the new series, but it doesn't really work here IMO. Still, nice work making it, the new special effects look great.

  • Melodramatic*.

  • Edits like these would be great for a "Doctor Who Remastered" type of release (sort of like what Paramount did for Star Trek: TOS), but also with an option to use the new FX or stick with the old.

  • Erm . . . They already do that. Lots and of the Classic Series DVDs have a CGI FX option.

They don't replace the music, but they also do 5.1 surround sound mixes for some of the stories as well.

    Brilliant stuff, I must say.

  • Time for Sean!

  • would you like a jelly baby.

  • I still can't get over how awesome this edit is. The music really does it as much as the fx.

  • This is brilliant!

  • u used particle illusion

  • god i'm dreading this happening to tennant!!

  • and now that James Nesbitt's confirmed he's not doing it- who could possibly do a good

    11th?

  • One person i heard could be taking over after tennant is the young guy who played Baines in the Series 3 two parter Family of Blood and Human nature.

Is it me or is the doctor getting younger and younger with each regeneration?

  • That could worse casting. But he is definitely getting younger- which, although that is the point of regenration, is stupid for the narrative. Carry on at this rate, we'll have a doctor with acne and who blushes at the sight of his assistant. No- I want to see regeneration be weird for the 11th- I want Stephen Fry to take over...

  • Well, the 4th, 6th and 7th Doctors were all around the same age. The 2nd and 3rd Doctors weren't that different in age (though younger than the 1st). The 5th Doctor regenerated into an OLDER guy. Same with the 8th to 9th.

  • Fuck no!

  • whats this music from?

  • That was marvellous, really brought a lump to my throat, nice one! Its amazing how much music can affect a scene, isn't it? it really suited the mood and gave it a more epic feel.

  • After watching Planet of the spiders last week on video, I watch this and think "...wow!" Well done Mulett! It beats the cheap regeneration (not even a light!) any day. Good use of the music, too. Sets the mood really well.

  • I've got this on VHS but haven't watched it for a while. I'll have to go watch it again now. I just remember how funny it was with the chanting guys at the beginning. Almost as good as "Life force dieing, Life force dieing" from The Pirate Planet. I REALLY don't remember who this little funny looking guy with the german accent is. What a dorky looking guy.

  • this is lovely, love the shot of third drs energy moving past sarahs face, be good to use this on dvd release and cannot believe they didnt have music on the original version

  • Well done, I almost didn't notice it was the new music in the background

  • You know I think the regeneration effect is differant because each time he dies, it happens in a differant way. So I think the way he regenerates varries from instance to instance.

  • Personally, I think it's just creative lisence by the directors. I wouldn't think of it as anything like that.

Still, before I saw all the regenerations, I did wonder, "how will they do it this time?"

  • Superb. I'm often a bit doubtful of the idea of using new series ideas/music on old episodes, but this seems to work very well.

  • Very good stuff, well done!

  • Brilliant. I think the Jon Pertwee regeneration wasn't too good but this is brilliant. One thing I didn't realise was that the Doctor's are usually unconcious when they regenerate and they're meant to stand up like they do in the new series. Thanks again

  • never understood the new series business of regenerating standing up. All 8 past Doctors never did.

  • Yeah, I quite like the idea though...

  • I think what they meant by "All Timelords regenerate like this" was that they'd give off that big flash of energy when it happens, not that they'd be standing up when it happens.

  • any got any episodes/footage of pertwee getting the tardis back or being alowwed to travel again?

  • omg this is FANTASTIC, i reckon you should edit all of the old who stories, makes them much more watchable for people who were introduced with NU WHO!!!

and at 2:20, tht is so powerful, i felt rele sad even though i havnt seen this episode and didnt even kno anything about who was who etc lol amazing!!!

what is the music you used???
