why don't you use your cavalry to attack them in their back at the point when they clash? or try and kill their general? You're just extending the battle unnecessarily while you could win in half that time you took. Why did you position your archers on the right flank unguarded? is just suicide. Imagine what would happen if the opponent had some cavalry. They would be sliced meat in second.
my usual stragy in big battles is that i put archers in front then main infantry little cavarly on 3rd row and general behing..then i split cavarly in 2 groups..on both rears..i command then to ride behing enemy lines..when main unit comes close to my archers..i ask archers to run behind infatry and then infatry charges the enemy..then the cavarly will be commanded to charge enemy from behind..what do u guys think? simple strategy i think..pretty original and boring..any suggestions`?
I have my general and my cavarly far off to the sides and facing the enemy, so they can go for the throat, or intercept enemy cavalry. I've used that tactic with the cavalry to win battles where the odds were against me.
I just send my archers out first, then order them to attack the oncoming infantry. While thise happens, I order my infantry to slowly walk towards the oncoming enemy. My archers will get off about 2 or 3 volleys of arrows untill the enmy starts a full on charge. By this time my infantry are right behind my archers, so I order them to start to run. Infantry meets infantry, and then I finish it off with a flanking from calvary. Works every time.
As 4 the flank gruad and out flankers would you make them spear men in case of a charge from cavelary and 4 the 2 front lines would line 2 be archers?
alot of times i send all my infantry at a charge towards the center of the line, witch causes most of them to break after a while and my calvary to hunt them down
its interesting but I think you should have included enemy cavalry which is pretty standard in most formations and would have required different tactics
nice tactics but im just gona stick with a solid front line of infantry, a shit load of archers behind them and the cavalry on the flanks. its never let me down so far no matter what the odds :)
The formation is indeed intresting, but you are playing agaist AI (which is poor in M2TW, even in Very hard dificulty), and it has no cavalry, which easeas the thing quite a bit. You cannot move archers out of the line's protection like you did unless you want them to get wipped or have an extremely good heavy cavalry ready to intercept enemy attackers..
Byzantine is a hard faction to play and I admrie your use of them in your videos.. its guiding me ingame.. thansk and hope u make mroe byzantine vids.
ill rather use my own double-line trap tactic ......i have a book with all my strategies

you have a strong front line so I would use cavalery to break the middle so the army is seperated if it fails you still have a front line

@elfaro91 exactly the same strategy that i use! its genious, except if the enemy attacks with cavalry first :/ then you should use an other strategy

Here is my standard formation from front to back:
-spearmen
-knights
-longbows and crossbows
-artillery
I have my general and my cavarly far off to the sides and facing the enemy, so they can go for the throat, or intercept enemy cavalry. I've used that tactic with the cavalry to win battles where the odds were against me.

Hi the things that bothers me are:
-you are in advantage in numbers which doesnt make your tactic impressive
-tactic is good but you work to slow causing you to loose more men
-why did you loose your archers on right flank so foolishly
-by the time u got your cavalry moving you lost the momentum and with that the chance of ending the battle quickly
-I liked the way you tried to flank them with your middle lined spearmen but go further ahead next time dont be nervous
Tariqslo 3 years ago
flanking should be done with cavelary
