I think Jake will back off because he wants to try to ensure he has friends but soon enough he'll let his feelings for Alex be known.
When Nate sees his ex then he will be upset but (hopefully) glad he moved on for a chance to be with Alex.
To be honest, I don't really have any idea what Jake could have done to be kicked out of his old school.
And I'm hoping that Alex will pick Nate, but it looks like she might have to date Jake for a bit and get hurt before she chooses Nate over him.
