For someone who has earnt his money from taking up a significant position in the Church of England, it seems a case of biting the hand that feeds to be casting doubts among its believers.
What i can understand in all 9 parts Bible No metter what is not actul word of God him self like troa ( Old Testament ) or Quran in these two book God has address him self as i but in bible its 3rd persons word either Mark luke or Methew or lost gospals they are not actul words of God him self and dont show it that way that God has address him as I. New Testament is book of stories talking about a person who lived 2 to 3 hundreds years ago no metter you think he was man or god.
The messiahs name is Yahusha and the father is Yahuah Elohim. And the first followers are called the Natsarim watchmen. The letter j never existed back then.
jesus said i will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, get a relationship with christ, pray that he guide you in the path of light and truth, remember he is the way the truth and the life
PEOPLE ARE SO QUICK TO GO ON LIKE CHRISTIANITY IS A FALSE RELIGION !!! PLEASE STOP USING VIDEOS LIKE THIS TO EXPOSE YOUR OWN DISBELIEF'S IN CHRIST, THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD DOC, NOWHERE DOES IT SAY CHRISTIANITY IS FALSE IN FACT ITS FAR FROM !!!! IF ANYTHING THE BIBLES SO POWERFUL AND ACCURATE THAT THE POWERS THAT BE HAD TO HAVE THE BOOKS REMOVED OTHERWISE THEY COULD NEVER HAVE THE WORLD IN THE CONTROLLED AND DUMBED DOWN STATE ITS IN TODAY, ANYONE THAT SAYS ITS A LOAD OF CRAP IS LIVIN IN DENIAL !
@MrDYERFIRE you are the one in denial, my friend. you fail to see that the believes we're thaught from birth are subjective interpretations of history and myths surrounding it. you fail to see that religious books are just books written by men and biassed and written/compiled for wordly reasons/objevtives rather than to enlighten mankind. you fail to see that other religions have an equal claim to 'the truth' as christianity (your christianity) has. you fail to see the world as it is! denial!
The conclusion of this film backs up the idea that there is a reason why things happen the way they happen. This film covers many questions I've had about the writings. I hope that the assertions are as accurate as one can be. It sure woulda been nice had "they" included the Gospel of Mary from the beginning though.
so many believe in the Giant and not the creator, when your to close to the Giant your not close enough to the creator.
Confess to a priest? why? the apolstles were NEVER allowed to do this so why did the church say only they can? no. you confess to God/Jesus only.. every time in the bible when a sin needs to be forgiven they are directed to Jesus.. end of the day dont buy a religion or you will be blinded from the truth, trust God and nothing else or you will be left behind.
@ 3:06 - > indeed, the novel faith and constantin had legitimate interests verging to establishing one single faith for one single empire: most theological disputes were settled not by one group proving its claims over another, but under imperial pressures and threats to ''favour'' one group or another had the bishops failed to manage a consensus of credo.
I like how this actually documentary actually delves into the social and political reasons of how and why the orthodoxy came into being rather than just making it seem for simple and shallow reasons. The truth is the "canon wars" as I like to call them were matters not just of spiritual truth and historicity but also of what the church at that time needed to hear and preach in order to survive in the climate of the Roman Empire.
I don't believe Constantine converted for political purposes. I think it was just a sign of the times. If he hadn't he'd be going against the trend by then.
PS. I think any texts from those early times no matter how fragmentary or distorted, are fair play if something toward understanding faith can be gained.
I found this documentary to be quite disturbing. In my opinion, the books that were meant to comprise of the New Testament were allowed to be by God, through the 'decision makers.' All I know is that Jesus lives; I died twice, once in the faith and once outside the faith and they we're entirely different experiences. In the faith, death was so serene and peaceful while floating above my body but outside the faith, I saw 9 evil spirits that looked at me as if they were ready to snatch me up!
"Constantine in AD 312 wanted to use this religion as a way of unifying his fragmenting empire".............There we have it in a nutshell, purely a political decision......Not exactly a surprise is it.
Islam is not the answer... christianity is not the answer.. mormonism is not the answer .. ect... God is the only answer, search in his name and ask for forgiveness and guidance.. and wait!
Honor your parents for bringing you to fruition. Love them. But leave so that you may go out in the world to learn your lessons. What they did was their duty to you. You have known them before and will know them again in the real world to follow. This part of the message was left out by the writers of various gospels. They should have taught don't forget your parents but take care of business. Sweet. Christ taught Karma as the way to heaven just read between the lines.

the not included writings talks about inner self, our origins, better knowledge about us, as beings. all this only goes 4 better understanding about the real deal of us in relation with religion, and this goes to empowering people, thus church lose his authority.
that's the reason why gospel of peter was not included(it should have if the church was built on him). why it claims so if Christianity was in real built on paul and peter was crucified upside down to say about deception, my opinion
It's good to see culture being exposed as the reasons why the church does what it does, instead of by some devine manner. Showing that authority was intentionally imposed, by men, in order to lay a particular groundwork and dogma of the church, we see how masses of people over hundreds of generations have been duped, and follow a false religion which was different in its true nature. So, so sad.
It's enough to make anyone doubt. It reveals half-truths. This is not just some little white lie.
@updownleftrightinout Hearhear! Even from the narrator's conclusion it is clear that the so called Divine Revelation of the Christians gains its ultimate significance from mundane, secular factors: the survival of their institution with its dogma and established social authority, that require an orthodoxy of texts and rituals to do so. Any claims of divinity are outshined by the hubris of the religious figures - to create (and cling to) a Tradition, reminiscent, more than anything, of a State.
@updownleftrightinout it isnt indeed! But its time to rise and seek the truth within ourselves. I learnt this in my history class at university. Nowadays the economic power is trying to dismantle the accessibility to higher education making it expensive to get it. ANother way to keep people stupid and make them participate only by reproducing the skills that power needs. I have decided to dedicate my life to this cause! To find truth within myself and help others to seek their own path.
@Sophisima I do not know where you live, but I see the complete opposite of what you see about incaccessability to higher education. I see it being heavily marketed & it's putting people into debt. Student loans are very easy to get . The community colleges were not as avail, if at all until the recent 30 or 40 years in the U.S. They may lack prestiqe, but it is still good quality & is available for those who want it and the cost is a fraction ... CC's are a great place to start highr eduction
Recently came out a female scholar, certain Sara Hermon, that has written a book " The Galileus Gospel" (italian language). She claims to have been a pupil of prof. Morton Smith, maybe by mailing because she lived in Europe and not in USA; anyway, it seems they met sometimes in England many years ago. We don't know if Hermon's book is fiction or reality, but it's amazing how many similarities the novel shows, compared to Smith hypothesis about secret, gnostic Mark gospel.
If anyone reads the Gospel of St. Thomas, they would clearly see the Buddhadharma in its teachings. "Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there. ..."
Such phrases echo the Unity of existence with God. We are always in His presence yet our ignorance hides this truth and makes us proliferate complexities which hide the profound simplicity of the truth.
Romans omitted, destroyed texts & murdered for centuries before seeing that unificationwould empower & enrich them. At the Vatican they play dress up, so unlike Christ & his initiates, or any initiates of any Master at any time/place. Circumcision, flesh eating, drinking strong drink was discussed by Jesus as well as all Bestowers of Light & Sound as being against the Creative Force. We must elevate ourselves so that we stop harming Creation, ourselves. We reincarnate, detach, join the Holy Nam
easeen sowing the seeds of confusion in Christianity. What a surprise to find out your a muslim. I wonder if you would find Peter Owen Jones`s opinions on islam so fascinating
@LIVERLADD The conclusions of this documentary says nothing that mainstream christian scholarship does not recognise itself. Perhaps you should not have decided that you were right and this was wrong before you finished watching it. Learning about how the books were decided upon should be important to people who claim to have faith in this religion, why do you dismiss them?
I watched this entire presentation. It comes from the perspective of an Anglican whose worldview is jaded and contaminated with Modern Feminism, False Ecumenism, and other heresies - some of which are modern inventions as well as old and ancient heresies. It is no surprise this presentation would be made by a Priest from one of the first Modern heretical movement, the Church of England. Watching this leads me to be informed, entertained, and realize that efforts to destroy the faith continues.
@FishEaster absolutely right. Clear cut anti Christian propaganda piece... 'interviewing' well known Bible basher and atheist Bart Ehrman about the true gospels of the Bible is a total joke... definately entertaining...
@wgb9676 - Calm yourself and free yourself from your egocentric urges. Take the neutral path to observation. Surely every religion is liable to birth, growth, alterations and decay. Have men not already changed their interpretations of your religion for the sake of their carnal desires? See how the Anglicans did sanction divorce, how men now work on the Sabbath. Why then do you decry writings which are different from your beloved views of what your religion should be? What are you afraid of?
@matreyia Im not interested in the workings of man or religion. I am interested in the truth. the true and the living god, jesus his son sent to die in our stead for our sins. Would you let Billy Graham or TD Jakes give u advice on your faith? No because they are not of your faith... Therefore similarly, i, in no uncertain terms, would never let an avowed athiest (Bart Ehrman) dictate to me what is credible in my faith. I fear no man, ideology, or 'lost gospels'... not even death...
@wgb9676 - You speak grand words on a subject you do know or understand. It is a subject which is not based on any truth per say, but rather based on absolute FAITH. Thus when you say you are interested in TRUTH, you do not understand that you are lying to yourself as well as anyone listening. For what does FAITH have to do with TRUTH? Nothing except for in the case where they both coincide. You fear no man nor gospel, but you certainly bias yourself to those you grew up with. That is a fact.
@wgb9676 - so speak on evermore about how fearless you are, while you act to the contrary. If one does not lay out and give equal consideration to all gospels, then it smells of bias and cowardice. The fear that what you grew up learning could be just one version of many viable realities...and that breeds discomfort in the heart. Who dislikes comfort? No one. You only believe what your patriarchs programmed into your brain and things unfamiliar do not compute. I am sorry, but that is the truth.
@matreyia I think you will agree that one truth exists. There is only one way the earth and all physical matter came into being, only one explanation. Everything we know in reality must correspond and correlate with this one truth. Everything. Similarly, one set of gospels describes jesus in one way. (Mt, Mk, Lk, Jn). Without sin. Free from malice and avarice. Full of forgiveness, grace, and mercy. Him dying for our transgressions. The old testament corresponds with this truth...
@matreyia ...Please read Isaiah 53:2-12. Please do look it up. Then realize that it was written at the very latest in the 500's BC. The new testament also corresponds to the canonical gospels as Paul testifies to these same truths about Jesus. The whole canonical bible correlates to one singular truth. My faith lies in that one truth. Faith = truth = Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. Any other document that doesnt correspond with truth is therefore false.
@wgb9676 - Am I crazy if I believe this?: The Buddha said to His monks, "Monks, when the Dharma arrives at the land of the red-faced man, and men ride in horseless chariots and fly in iron birds, this is will mark the start of the age of decline. Life will become more stressful, wholesome states will decrease, lifespans will decrease over time until there is no trace of wholesomeness, then the buddha Maitreya will arise to renew the Dharma."
@matreyia Many have had the ability to prophecy. The things written in that prophecy have come true; all except the last part. Where is Maitreya? When did he arise? This is the difference between the Buddha's prophecy and Isaiah's found in 53:2-12. Isaiah's prophecy of a Messiah actually came to pass. Jesus actually existed and died in the way described by Isaiah. I don't have disrespect for the Buddha's teachings, and some of his prophecies have indeed become true, but no savior came...
@wgb9676 - Sir, Maitreyia is not to arise until the world has already descended into utter chaos and immorality. Additionally, He is not a Savior. He is only a teacher. Therefore, you do not understand the prophecy of the Buddha and still cling to teachings...even when I clearly told you that Maitreyia will not come in your lifetime. And you immediately discounted the Buddha's prophecy as being untrue...U r blinded by ur upbringing that u can't see objectively even when it is clearly explained.
@matreyia...are more about tradition. Mormans have included another prophet, joseph smith. Jehovah's witnesses dont believe in the trinity. Yet, all can be saved if they believe in the saving grace of Jesus... i have over-generalized with these branches, but you see the point...
@wgb9676 - Ur right in ur description and reasoning about all these sects. However, it is a fact that many of these sects believe that the other are doomed to Hell for their interpretations of the Bible. Thus we come again to the problem of interpretation, which was my point in the first place. Each sect has its own set of beliefs, each think the other is wrong, even the Jehova who don't believe in the 3x are tolerated...yet the gnostic writings are heretics? Politics of religion. Not truth.
@wgb9676 - Smith is allowed, denial of the 3x is allowed, yet Thomas, Judas, Mary Gospels, and even Peter are rejected because if a disagreement with their interpretations or accounts? How arbitrary. And why reject Peter's letter to Philip? Yet accept his other letters?
@matreyia I was trying to be respectful of you and Buddha and your faith. I didnt mean to disrespect you; i am not an expert in Buddhism, im sorry if i misunderstood... However, if i am blinded by my upbringing and brainwashed because i believe what i believe, then why cant the same thing be said about you? You wont be swayed by different documents which contradict Buddha's teachings, doesnt that make you brainwashed as well? What if a document was discovered by a hindi that described...
@wgb9676 - Ahhh! Eureka, you hit the nail on the head. Yes! I would be brainwashed if held the teachings and prophecies to be absolute truth. Here we come to a defining moment. Why does the brainwash accusation not applicable to me? Simply because I do not take any of the teachings or prophecies to be absolute truth but I hold all of them liable to examination. I do not cling to them. If they are proven wrong I easily accept it. Can you say the same for yourself?
@wgb9676 - therefore i say again, I cannot be swayed by different documents since I hold no particular one as absolute truth. Now there is a sutra which clearly explains my attitude concerning belief. It is called "The Kalama Sutra". Very short and clearly explains my position regarding such matters. You will see in no unclear terms what should be done. the Buddha even asked people not to believe him just because he was a buddha. How confident, pragmatic and egalitarian. Google it. U'll see.
@matreyia ...Buddha as a hostile murderer? No way would you believe it, even if it was supposedly written by one of his Monks... i wouldnt belive it either. Similarly, just because some 'lost gospel' comes out that says Jesus was sexually immoral or murderous doesnt mean i have to believe it. I dont know why you might believe it if you dont seem to believe any of the other gospels... Why are you so concerned that Jesus not be pure or a Savior for man? I certainly dont mind that people ....
@wgb9676 - sir, I am not concerned about Jesus in any way, let alone HIm being impure. If He were truly holy and a part of the Trinity, I rejoice for all Christians. What I am concerned about is the why in which Xtians go about their faith as though it is absolutely flawless and true regardless of science, or logic or anything which defies the scriptures. Even after millennia of being proven wrong in many things scientifically, there remains this attitude with some. It is astounding.
@matreyia ...Im curious, what did you think as you read Isaiah 53...? did you think it was about jesus? isnt it astounding how specificly it described Him? Cant you see how that prophecy becoming fulfilled in jesus strengthens my faith?
@wgb9676 - Surely it appears astounding. Yet I reserve judgment because I live here and now and cannot verify the conditions of its origins. If I told u about a prophecy I found...like Joseph Smith did about America or another country, would you believe me? Yet you believe these others why? Because they are old? Or they are from the bible? That book itself have been subjected to multiple revisions and translations...yet u take ur version to be Truth. Many authors, many versions & translations.
@wgb9676 - Additionally, would you believe in any new prophecy made in the present time? Or is that not acceptable to you? Does a prophecy have to be ancient? Are all potential modern day prophecies invalid and to be considered works of the Devil? How fundamentally illogical and brainwashed this view is.
@wgb9676 - What is more likely? God created man and gave him intelligence & other fine qualities to learn about the world and about God. Or God gave man such things but doesn't want man to question anything but just go along with a book, thereby avoiding using the gifts which God gave man to use in the first place? I tell u believing in a book which says it is from God is FAR from using the gift of intellect to discover God. It is dangerous.
@matreyia You're right i read it and it is quite eloquent. The Bible and The Kalama Sutra have many similarities on what is good and what is evil. How ironic that you had me reference a 'credible' document which decries all documents. It claims no document or tradition can be true, but assumes that it must be taken as true... hypocrisy. Isnt it true that Buddha didnt acheive true enlightenment, unable to free himself from desire since he desired the freedom of Tibet... ?
@wgb9676 - Sir Tibet did not exist in the time of the Buddha. U concern urself with the Dalai Lama who is not a Buddha, but a Bodhisattva. Tibetans believe in particular things which are different from many sects of Buddhism. Tibet has nothing to do with Buddhism, that is a political matter.
The Kalama Sutra should not be viewed as a "credible document" per say, since it mainly uses logic and has no prophecy to verify. It is just a teaching, an opinion which I agree with by my own inspection.
@matreyia Ur right ive learned a lot. I appreciate your story, i myself was saved from suicide by the power of Jesus and his teachings... it would be hard for either of us to turn away from such a powerful experience. I also do not think myself comparable to Jesus in any way. or The life of Buddha for that matter... His life was admirable... I appreciate your intelligence and insight... God Bless you, sir
@wgb9676 - Be blessed in God's eyes brother. Strive to use ur intelligence to get closer to Him. May you be blessed and free from suffering and all who meet you gain from the store of merit which you may have accrued in His eyes. Cheers.
According to Buddha, those who commit suicide will do it again for 7 lives. Can god purify your deeds? Can you feel happy every single moment? You're saved now but are you guaranteed a place in heaven? In the bible it says, "The door to heaven is narrow and the gate to hell is wide."
@wgb9676 - Sir, I am joyful & empathize with ur spiritual stability. It is not my intention to lead u from Christ. For I am not worthy to compare in any way with Him. Indeed, I look into myself daily & I see clearly the blackness of ignorance, pride, hate, anger in myself. I am like a black spot of dung in comparison to Christ. He was truly wise and grand. I hold Him in the highest regard.
Yet I say to u, cultivate neutrality, openness, genuine objectiveness, that u may be considered honest.
@wgb9676 - Please do not think I am here to tell u to believe in the Gnostic writings & reject the established Gospels. I am simply saying that ur heart should not shutter nor waver when reading different things and that u should be steadfast in ur calmness of mind and objectiveness when encountering different things. For if different views agitate ur mind, how can u be sure if u r right or they r wrong with a mind clouded by agitation or madness or anger?
@matreyia So im curious, because i see the pride and insecureties in myslef as well. I know i have Jesus death and resurrection for my sins to make me able to be cleansed and enter heaven when i die. I wonder for a man such as yourself... what do you have for this? In other words, what makes you 'good enough' to enter heaven?
@wgb9676 - that is a good question sir. Here we have a simple problem of one sided views. That is to say, there is an automatic belief that everyone wants to go to Heaven. If that is the case, then according to the Bible, I am bound for Hell since I think differently from every teaching of the Bible.
However, u must know that not every religion or person may want to go to Heaven. I am such a person. Biblical Heaven sounds grand, but I do not live for that goal. I do not concern myself with it.
@wgb9676 - Sir, I live for the sake of eliminating and purifying the very things which defile me, which is anger, hate etc. For I see those things as the source of my suffering, the cause of my Hell. If they are eradicated, it will be permanent. Heaven is great, but it is liable to change. One may still be subject to anger, hate, jealousy even in Heaven. See how Lucifer arose? See how God gets angry according to the Bible. I see my endeavor to destroy the defilements as the greatest tribute to..
@wgb9676 -...greatest tribute to all that is Holy. For me, it is the highest form of worship and acknowledgment of the Lord's message. Woe to me if I were to be lost in the particulars of the words and stories. Woe to me if I only see Heaven & my efforts to be good are for Heaven's sake. Woe to me if I have missed the Message entirely & am distracted by the beautiful colors of promises. For I see it reduced to ashes of Barter and nothing more if that is the case.
@wgb9676 - Sir, there are two ways to understand how Jesus died for your sins.
1. He died literally to negate mankind's sins.
2. He died and became the living example of His actualized teachings of benovolence, forgiveness and loving kindness so that all of mankind can be saved from the destruction of sinful acts here & now and forever more. In other words, He walked the walk of His teachings instead of talking that talk only. Thus He cannot be denied, and woe to him which denies that.
@wgb9676 - How many false teachers have u watched on TV? They are liars, cheats & know nothing of the purity of Christ and His teachings. They talk and parrot His teachings - such acts even the lowest of demons can easily copy. But a demon is a demon and it cannot perform the pure acts of Christ in any case. Thus we see the demons revealed when they are caught molesting the innocents or behaving immorally. Christ's sacrifice cannot be denied, it is futile.
@wgb9676 - Do you understand what I speak of? Those who speak ill of others, they profess purity, fidelity in marriage, chastity...yet they worship sensual pleasure and engage in perversity and all manner of sins of the flesh and spirit. We see it all the time on TV. Watch the news and u will see the truth of such false teachers. Devils they are, unfit to be followed or supported. They have denied Christ's sacrifice and they pay dearly every time.
@wgb9676 What does "all of mankind can be saved from the destruction of sinful acts here & now and forever more..."
this mean?
It means that when a person understands the reality of Christ's example and sacrifice, that person will inevitably be saved from their own sins because they will not commit them purposefully. Because they hold His sacrifice in awe, therefore, they strive to honor Christ and show their thanks by avoiding sin in the name of Christ.
@wgb9676 - A stupid man thinks he is smart. A wise man is humble and understands his smallness in the universe. If a man thinks he is right from reading a book, if he gains immoral amplitude of pride concerning his knowledge of the scriptures, he is stupid. But I say, if he understands the scriptures, he would know his smallness and his knowledge of the scripture & God is infinitesmal. And he would be open still to all potentialities instead of sitting on the laurels of his knowledge.
@matreyia ...Its also ironic that you talk about the treatment of women... Im glad u did. Isnt it true that Buddha abandoned his family? Didnt he abandon his wife and son? Shouldnt he have stayed and taken care of them? Contrarily, Jesus, always treated women with respect and uplifted them when ever he could. Consider the woman of ill repute Mary Magdeline, the woman by the well, the woman with the alabaster ointment, his mother, whom he cared for even on the cross, telling John to take...
@wgb9676 - I'm glad u brought this family issue up. What is abandonment? It is the intention to leave something for good for selfish reasons without regard for that thing or person. In reality, the Buddha made a heart wrenching decision to leave His family in the care of the royal courts so that He could find a way to deal with the problem of Suffering. He did it for their sake since He knew if He did not find a solution, they would suffer and die even if he stayed...
@wgb9676 - ...therefore, we should all show reverence for His personal sacrifice of having to leave His family for their sake and for all sentient beings' sakes. In the end, He found the method to attain peace and successfully taught it to every single one of his family members & ordained His son personally. In addition, He has help millions of people throughout history, including myself, come out of the stupor of suffering & ignorance. He saved me from suicide after I first read His teachings.
@wgb9676 - Just a reminder, be careful when using he example of the Buddha's leaving of His family a proof of His antipathy for them. Do not forget Christ said to leave your family to follow Him. And unless you hate your parents, you won't go to heaven. I understand Jesus' words on this and am no foolish to use this statement to vilify Jesus. Only those with sound minds and openness of mind could fathom such a startling statement.
@matreyia care of her after He was gone. The woman caught in adultery He pardoned... Paul writer of most of the new testament demanded that husbands love their wives the same way Jesus loved the church... Remember Jesus died for the church... There is some male favoritism in some matters... for sure, but when you look at how Jesus set the example of how to treat women, Christianity stands apart by far...
@wgb9676 - I rejoice for ur strong faith. Yet I also caution that u must balance faith with reason and examination, lest u be suckered by ancient politics of control of social classes and of the sexes. If u do not see that there exists the influence of male biased policies in the scriptures, you have no hope of truly seeing things as they are. When u can be open to the possibility that ur understanding or beliefs could be wrong or imperfect, then u have hope to be an honest person.
@wgb9676 - As wonderous and beautiful as the writings are, do you even acknowledge that they clearly have a male biased flavor? I won't even ask u if u think God is male biased, just if u see anything that is questionable or not. This is a beef of the matter. For if u say no, all the writings are clearly divine & have no mortal influence, then there is no need to further discuss anything between us. I have enjoyed our exchange. Be blessed & beloved in God's eye, live long & be joyful. Cheers.
@matreyia ...one group of gospels depicts Jesus utterly benignly, a promoter and follower of the commandments and the will of God. 'Turn the other cheek' and the like (Mt Mk Lk Jn). Another has Jesus killing children and one of his teachers for angering him. Cant you see that these both cant be true? 66 canonical books testify to jesus in one way, then a few come along and tell of a different way? y should i believe those gospel accounts? or any other conflicting accounts? illogical.
@wgb9676 - ur correct about those gospels. One seems wonderful & the other seems violent & base. Why do u prefer one over the other as the Truth? Perhaps it is because u like the thought that God is good & merciful. So it is natural that u would believe this.
One set of gospels correspond with other descriptions and the old testament...so ask urself to what does the Old Testament correspond to?...nothing & no one, u must take it as the Word of God & cannot question. No thank you.
@wgb9676 - one can't say that writings must correspond to other sources, then exempt the source text from the requirement of having to correspond to another text...it is like saying something can't come from nothing so God must have made the Universe, but then you turn around & say that God came from nothing which negates the first statement. That is a cop out and warrants no need to be dignified in any serious debate about life & existence.
@wgb9676 - Old Testament to New Testament, to all the little sects with their particular beliefs and theology, Jehovah's Witnesses, Baptists, Catholics etc...no one can say they have the truth. Whatever sect u belong to, u r just as blind & loyal to it as the others. Surely men have committed themselves to be slaves of mental proliferation & adapting their "sacred writings" to fit their very own desires and wills. Therein lies no truth, or it has been drowned, lost in the thicket of views.
@matreyia You have spoken correctly, there are many different branches of Christian faith. However, the things upon which are disagreed are minor. All Christian faiths teach the forgiveness of sin and the saving grace of Jesus. All believe that the only way man can be redeemed is through the death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus. All understand that Jesus must be accepted as lord and savior as the only means to be saved. Catholics emphasize mother mary and the saints more, Baptists..
lies and manipulations cannot stand forever. The truth which is the only reality must win out in the end. You can fool some of the people some of the time, most of the people most of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time :)
Constantine.............. 2 min 30 sec........."He wanted to use this religion as a way of unifying his fragmented empire"...............That about sums it up in a nutshell.
Among all the ideas I saw in this instructive documentary, marcion's theory of two gods is the one that best explains the difference between the old and the new testament.
in fact, how can god be merciful if he asked for jesus blood to appease his anger? he acted like those indonesian gods that want virgins to be thrown into a volcano.
(Part I) Confusion in your mind that is not capable of accepting new ideas. dualism is logically possible, because "infinite entity" is not the same as to occupying all space.
if god exists along with other spiritual entities, like angels, saints, the virgin mary and satan, why couldn't there be two gods?
god and satan are fighting now, so why couldn’t this god be fighting with a previous one?
@efex2007 - Yes, that is correct. It is said, God is permanent, forever, as is the soul. But it is also said that the soul was created by God and can be destroyed, and that God changed his mind...both things already negate the "infallible" word of the Bible, for they effectively destroy His immutability & the soul's permanence. No permanent thing can be born, nor can it change in any way. These contradictions the sheep do not see. Wonder u why they sow destruction while professing peace & love?
@matreyia Concerning to the soul, I don't see any contradiction. it is eternal, provided that you don't disobey him. the condition doesn't make the assertion illogical.
@efex2007 - "it is eternal, provided that you don't disobey him."
Then is would not be eternal. Don't put conditions on things which are supposed to be eternal. That would immediately negate its "eternalness". Furthermore, if it were eternal, it would not ever have been created but always been there. Therefore again, it is NOT eternal.
@matreyia The soul will have eternal life (will be in paradise forever), it doesn’t mean it is eternal like god (no beginning and no end), because if it were so, it couldn’t have been created by him.
you got lost in the literal interpretation of the words.
@efex2007 - Don't expect people to discount the meaning of words in a book which hinges on every single word. That is absurd. You will end up with a hideous mass of suffering such as we have today in Islam, Christianity and Judaism...all because there are people who expect others to ignore language in some places and follow it to the tee in other places. Either a word means something or not. Let there be no cherry picking.
@efex2007 - "No, I inferred it from basic logics. if god created souls, they must have a beginning."
Have you not read the Bible? Peter and talks down to men of logic and wisdom. He tells us that they are fools. So when we use logic to interpret the Bible, we are being fools. This foolishness is utterly contemptible. Demand submission and abandonment of logic for the Word, yet expect people to use logic to interpret them. Friend, you can't have it both ways. This is hypocrisy.
@efex2007 - You see how "fair" the Word of God is? It is insanity. They are words of a person who wishes to be babied to his every whim no matter how unreasonable they be. Full of exceptions to this or that. Bashing logic, wisdom, then declaring their own supreme wisdom and truth. Utterly ridiculous.
@efex2007 - It is as though the authors believe they alone have the authority to use language in whatever way they please. There is no need to dignify this thought.
@efex2007 - Now how learned or wise do you think you are compared to the legions of linguistic theologians who spent their lives interpreting this or that? How much of a religion for people does this make it? There have been geniuses, philosophical masters who have had contradiction views on all manner of issues, including your simple inference of the soul. This I say again is stupidity dressed in intellect. Unreasonable, unfair and unfit to be revered.
@efex2007 - I do not beat any bush friend. I am trying to remove the bush so you might see clearly.
The soul is eternal: then God did not create it.
God created the soul: then it is not eternal.
End of story. Who is beating around what bush here? If you want to swim in a sea of leniency concerning the meanings of words and logic, it is your right to do so. I merely state my own here. No offense meant. Just honest observations.
@efex2007 - Come on friend, how hard could it be to write a simple sentence explaining that the soul is created by God and is dependent upon God's will to exist or be destroyed. If this were written in the first place, our current discussion would not even exist since it there is no contradiction. But they place the burden of explanation upon themselves who claim that it is eternal yet subject to birth and destruction by the hand of God.
@matreyia I'm not religious, im just speculating with religious logics, as much as you..
The soul is eternal vs. god created the soul is totally compatible. The eternal soul is the one which goes to heaven, it is not the one that does not have beginning.
We are not entering in the discussion whether, in a scientific point of view, he exists or not, or if he has beginning or not.
@efex2007 - Then you are welcomed to live in your world of logic. If there are two souls which die and live forever, it would behoove the authors to say so. If there is only one soul which is not eternal, but dependent upon God's mercy to live or not, they should also say so. If there is a soul which is eternal, then say so without saying that it can be destroyed or be born. You say an eternal soul is compatible with with one which is created by God. You are wrong. I am sorry you do not see it.
@efex2007 -"Why is it so hard to understand that the word "eternal" can be applied with different lengths?"
Why is it so hard to understand that the word "eternal" has a meaning and cannot be applied to different lengths? Who gave anyone the authority to modify the meaning of this or any other word?
You expect any sane person to just accept something someone wrote without proper examination?
There is no one who is wrong here except for the one who says that eternal does not mean eternal.
@matreyia For one who does not realize the subtleties of words, it’s dangerous for him to say that he loves his mother and his girlfriend, because he can take any of them to the bed. Love is love, he could say.
For someone who has earnt his money from taking up a significant position in the Church of England, it seems a case of biting the hand that feeds to be casting doubts among its believers.

In the faith, death was so serene and peaceful while floating above my body but outside the faith, I saw 9 evil spirits that looked at me as if they were ready to snatch me up!

the not included writings talks about inner self, our origins, better knowledge about us, as beings. all this only goes 4 better understanding about the real deal of us in relation with religion, and this goes to empowering people, thus church lose his authority.
that's the reason why gospel of peter was not included(it should have if the church was built on him). why it claims so if Christianity was in real built on paul and peter was crucified upside down to say about deception, my opinion

This is not just some little white lie.
updownleftrightinout 1 year ago 27

FishEaster 1 year ago
@FishEaster absolutely right. Clear cut anti Christian propaganda piece... 'interviewing' well known Bible basher and atheist Bart Ehrman about the true gospels of the Bible is a total joke... definately entertaining...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Calm yourself and free yourself from your egocentric urges. Take the neutral path to observation. Surely every religion is liable to birth, growth, alterations and decay. Have men not already changed their interpretations of your religion for the sake of their carnal desires? See how the Anglicans did sanction divorce, how men now work on the Sabbath. Why then do you decry writings which are different from your beloved views of what your religion should be? What are you afraid of?
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia Im not interested in the workings of man or religion. I am interested in the truth. the true and the living god, jesus his son sent to die in our stead for our sins. Would you let Billy Graham or TD Jakes give u advice on your faith? No because they are not of your faith... Therefore similarly, i, in no uncertain terms, would never let an avowed athiest (Bart Ehrman) dictate to me what is credible in my faith. I fear no man, ideology, or 'lost gospels'... not even death...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - You speak grand words on a subject you do know or understand. It is a subject which is not based on any truth per say, but rather based on absolute FAITH. Thus when you say you are interested in TRUTH, you do not understand that you are lying to yourself as well as anyone listening. For what does FAITH have to do with TRUTH? Nothing except for in the case where they both coincide. You fear no man nor gospel, but you certainly bias yourself to those you grew up with. That is a fact.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - so speak on evermore about how fearless you are, while you act to the contrary. If one does not lay out and give equal consideration to all gospels, then it smells of bias and cowardice. The fear that what you grew up learning could be just one version of many viable realities...and that breeds discomfort in the heart. Who dislikes comfort? No one. You only believe what your patriarchs programmed into your brain and things unfamiliar do not compute. I am sorry, but that is the truth.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia I think you will agree that one truth exists. There is only one way the earth and all physical matter came into being, only one explanation. Everything we know in reality must correspond and correlate with this one truth. Everything. Similarly, one set of gospels describes jesus in one way. (Mt, Mk, Lk, Jn). Without sin. Free from malice and avarice. Full of forgiveness, grace, and mercy. Him dying for our transgressions. The old testament corresponds with this truth...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@matreyia ...Please read Isaiah 53:2-12. Please do look it up. Then realize that it was written at the very latest in the 500's BC. The new testament also corresponds to the canonical gospels as Paul testifies to these same truths about Jesus. The whole canonical bible correlates to one singular truth. My faith lies in that one truth. Faith = truth = Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. Any other document that doesnt correspond with truth is therefore false.
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Am I crazy if I believe this?: The Buddha said to His monks, "Monks, when the Dharma arrives at the land of the red-faced man, and men ride in horseless chariots and fly in iron birds, this is will mark the start of the age of decline. Life will become more stressful, wholesome states will decrease, lifespans will decrease over time until there is no trace of wholesomeness, then the buddha Maitreya will arise to renew the Dharma."
500 Yrs. before JC was born.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia Many have had the ability to prophecy. The things written in that prophecy have come true; all except the last part. Where is Maitreya? When did he arise? This is the difference between the Buddha's prophecy and Isaiah's found in 53:2-12. Isaiah's prophecy of a Messiah actually came to pass. Jesus actually existed and died in the way described by Isaiah. I don't have disrespect for the Buddha's teachings, and some of his prophecies have indeed become true, but no savior came...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Sir, Maitreyia is not to arise until the world has already descended into utter chaos and immorality. Additionally, He is not a Savior. He is only a teacher. Therefore, you do not understand the prophecy of the Buddha and still cling to teachings...even when I clearly told you that Maitreyia will not come in your lifetime. And you immediately discounted the Buddha's prophecy as being untrue...U r blinded by ur upbringing that u can't see objectively even when it is clearly explained.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia...are more about tradition. Mormans have included another prophet, joseph smith. Jehovah's witnesses dont believe in the trinity. Yet, all can be saved if they believe in the saving grace of Jesus... i have over-generalized with these branches, but you see the point...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Ur right in ur description and reasoning about all these sects. However, it is a fact that many of these sects believe that the other are doomed to Hell for their interpretations of the Bible. Thus we come again to the problem of interpretation, which was my point in the first place. Each sect has its own set of beliefs, each think the other is wrong, even the Jehova who don't believe in the 3x are tolerated...yet the gnostic writings are heretics? Politics of religion. Not truth.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Smith is allowed, denial of the 3x is allowed, yet Thomas, Judas, Mary Gospels, and even Peter are rejected because if a disagreement with their interpretations or accounts? How arbitrary. And why reject Peter's letter to Philip? Yet accept his other letters?
matreyia 1 year ago

Can you say the same for yourself?
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - therefore i say again, I cannot be swayed by different documents since I hold no particular one as absolute truth. Now there is a sutra which clearly explains my attitude concerning belief. It is called "The Kalama Sutra". Very short and clearly explains my position regarding such matters. You will see in no unclear terms what should be done. the Buddha even asked people not to believe him just because he was a buddha. How confident, pragmatic and egalitarian. Google it. U'll see.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia ...Buddha as a hostile murderer? No way would you believe it, even if it was supposedly written by one of his Monks... i wouldnt belive it either. Similarly, just because some 'lost gospel' comes out that says Jesus was sexually immoral or murderous doesnt mean i have to believe it. I dont know why you might believe it if you dont seem to believe any of the other gospels... Why are you so concerned that Jesus not be pure or a Savior for man? I certainly dont mind that people ....
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - sir, I am not concerned about Jesus in any way, let alone HIm being impure. If He were truly holy and a part of the Trinity, I rejoice for all Christians. What I am concerned about is the why in which Xtians go about their faith as though it is absolutely flawless and true regardless of science, or logic or anything which defies the scriptures. Even after millennia of being proven wrong in many things scientifically, there remains this attitude with some. It is astounding.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia ...Im curious, what did you think as you read Isaiah 53...? did you think it was about jesus? isnt it astounding how specificly it described Him? Cant you see how that prophecy becoming fulfilled in jesus strengthens my faith?
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Surely it appears astounding. Yet I reserve judgment because I live here and now and cannot verify the conditions of its origins. If I told u about a prophecy I found...like Joseph Smith did about America or another country, would you believe me? Yet you believe these others why? Because they are old? Or they are from the bible? That book itself have been subjected to multiple revisions and translations...yet u take ur version to be Truth. Many authors, many versions & translations.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Additionally, would you believe in any new prophecy made in the present time? Or is that not acceptable to you? Does a prophecy have to be ancient? Are all potential modern day prophecies invalid and to be considered works of the Devil? How fundamentally illogical and brainwashed this view is.

@matreyia ...choose to admire Buddha and his wise teachings about eliminating desire and seeking enlightenment...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - What is more likely? God created man and gave him intelligence & other fine qualities to learn about the world and about God. Or God gave man such things but doesn't want man to question anything but just go along with a book, thereby avoiding using the gifts which God gave man to use in the first place? I tell u believing in a book which says it is from God is FAR from using the gift of intellect to discover God. It is dangerous.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia You're right i read it and it is quite eloquent. The Bible and The Kalama Sutra have many similarities on what is good and what is evil. How ironic that you had me reference a 'credible' document which decries all documents. It claims no document or tradition can be true, but assumes that it must be taken as true... hypocrisy. Isnt it true that Buddha didnt acheive true enlightenment, unable to free himself from desire since he desired the freedom of Tibet... ?
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Sir Tibet did not exist in the time of the Buddha. U concern urself with the Dalai Lama who is not a Buddha, but a Bodhisattva. Tibetans believe in particular things which are different from many sects of Buddhism. Tibet has nothing to do with Buddhism, that is a political matter.
The Kalama Sutra should not be viewed as a "credible document" per say, since it mainly uses logic and has no prophecy to verify. It is just a teaching, an opinion which I agree with by my own inspection.

God Bless you, sir
wgb9676 1 year ago

@wgb9676
According to Buddha, those who commit suicide will do it again for 7 lives. Can god purify your deeds? Can you feel happy every single moment? You're saved now but are you guaranteed a place in heaven? In the bible it says, "The door to heaven is narrow and the gate to hell is wide."
Can you tell me how to get to heaven?

@wgb9676 - Sir, I am joyful & empathize with ur spiritual stability. It is not my intention to lead u from Christ. For I am not worthy to compare in any way with Him. Indeed, I look into myself daily & I see clearly the blackness of ignorance, pride, hate, anger in myself. I am like a black spot of dung in comparison to Christ. He was truly wise and grand. I hold Him in the highest regard.
Yet I say to u, cultivate neutrality, openness, genuine objectiveness, that u may be considered honest.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Please do not think I am here to tell u to believe in the Gnostic writings & reject the established Gospels. I am simply saying that ur heart should not shutter nor waver when reading different things and that u should be steadfast in ur calmness of mind and objectiveness when encountering different things. For if different views agitate ur mind, how can u be sure if u r right or they r wrong with a mind clouded by agitation or madness or anger?
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia So im curious, because i see the pride and insecureties in myslef as well. I know i have Jesus death and resurrection for my sins to make me able to be cleansed and enter heaven when i die. I wonder for a man such as yourself... what do you have for this? In other words, what makes you 'good enough' to enter heaven?
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - that is a good question sir. Here we have a simple problem of one sided views. That is to say, there is an automatic belief that everyone wants to go to Heaven. If that is the case, then according to the Bible, I am bound for Hell since I think differently from every teaching of the Bible.
However, u must know that not every religion or person may want to go to Heaven. I am such a person. Biblical Heaven sounds grand, but I do not live for that goal. I do not concern myself with it.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Sir, I live for the sake of eliminating and purifying the very things which defile me, which is anger, hate etc. For I see those things as the source of my suffering, the cause of my Hell. If they are eradicated, it will be permanent. Heaven is great, but it is liable to change. One may still be subject to anger, hate, jealousy even in Heaven. See how Lucifer arose? See how God gets angry according to the Bible. I see my endeavor to destroy the defilements as the greatest tribute to..
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 -...greatest tribute to all that is Holy. For me, it is the highest form of worship and acknowledgment of the Lord's message. Woe to me if I were to be lost in the particulars of the words and stories. Woe to me if I only see Heaven & my efforts to be good are for Heaven's sake. Woe to me if I have missed the Message entirely & am distracted by the beautiful colors of promises. For I see it reduced to ashes of Barter and nothing more if that is the case.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Sir, there are two ways to understand how Jesus died for your sins.
1. He died literally to negate mankind's sins.
2. He died and became the living example of His actualized teachings of benovolence, forgiveness and loving kindness so that all of mankind can be saved from the destruction of sinful acts here & now and forever more. In other words, He walked the walk of His teachings instead of talking that talk only. Thus He cannot be denied, and woe to him which denies that.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - How many false teachers have u watched on TV? They are liars, cheats & know nothing of the purity of Christ and His teachings. They talk and parrot His teachings - such acts even the lowest of demons can easily copy. But a demon is a demon and it cannot perform the pure acts of Christ in any case. Thus we see the demons revealed when they are caught molesting the innocents or behaving immorally. Christ's sacrifice cannot be denied, it is futile.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Do you understand what I speak of? Those who speak ill of others, they profess purity, fidelity in marriage, chastity...yet they worship sensual pleasure and engage in perversity and all manner of sins of the flesh and spirit. We see it all the time on TV. Watch the news and u will see the truth of such false teachers. Devils they are, unfit to be followed or supported. They have denied Christ's sacrifice and they pay dearly every time.
matreyia 1 year ago

And he would be open still to all potentialities instead of sitting on the laurels of his knowledge.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia ...Its also ironic that you talk about the treatment of women... Im glad u did. Isnt it true that Buddha abandoned his family? Didnt he abandon his wife and son? Shouldnt he have stayed and taken care of them? Contrarily, Jesus, always treated women with respect and uplifted them when ever he could. Consider the woman of ill repute Mary Magdeline, the woman by the well, the woman with the alabaster ointment, his mother, whom he cared for even on the cross, telling John to take...
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - I'm glad u brought this family issue up. What is abandonment? It is the intention to leave something for good for selfish reasons without regard for that thing or person. In reality, the Buddha made a heart wrenching decision to leave His family in the care of the royal courts so that He could find a way to deal with the problem of Suffering. He did it for their sake since He knew if He did not find a solution, they would suffer and die even if he stayed...
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - ...therefore, we should all show reverence for His personal sacrifice of having to leave His family for their sake and for all sentient beings' sakes. In the end, He found the method to attain peace and successfully taught it to every single one of his family members & ordained His son personally. In addition, He has help millions of people throughout history, including myself, come out of the stupor of suffering & ignorance. He saved me from suicide after I first read His teachings.
matreyia 1 year ago

When u can be open to the possibility that ur understanding or beliefs could be wrong or imperfect, then u have hope to be an honest person.
matreyia 1 year ago

66 canonical books testify to jesus in one way, then a few come along and tell of a different way? y should i believe those gospel accounts? or any other conflicting accounts? illogical.
wgb9676 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - ur correct about those gospels. One seems wonderful & the other seems violent & base. Why do u prefer one over the other as the Truth? Perhaps it is because u like the thought that God is good & merciful. So it is natural that u would believe this.
One set of gospels correspond with other descriptions and the old testament...so ask urself to what does the Old Testament correspond to?...nothing & no one, u must take it as the Word of God & cannot question. No thank you.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - one can't say that writings must correspond to other sources, then exempt the source text from the requirement of having to correspond to another text...it is like saying something can't come from nothing so God must have made the Universe, but then you turn around & say that God came from nothing which negates the first statement. That is a cop out and warrants no need to be dignified in any serious debate about life & existence.
matreyia 1 year ago
@wgb9676 - Old Testament to New Testament, to all the little sects with their particular beliefs and theology, Jehovah's Witnesses, Baptists, Catholics etc...no one can say they have the truth. Whatever sect u belong to, u r just as blind & loyal to it as the others. Surely men have committed themselves to be slaves of mental proliferation & adapting their "sacred writings" to fit their very own desires and wills. Therein lies no truth, or it has been drowned, lost in the thicket of views.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia You have spoken correctly, there are many different branches of Christian faith. However, the things upon which are disagreed are minor. All Christian faiths teach the forgiveness of sin and the saving grace of Jesus. All believe that the only way man can be redeemed is through the death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus. All understand that Jesus must be accepted as lord and savior as the only means to be saved. Catholics emphasize mother mary and the saints more, Baptists..

Among all the ideas I saw in this instructive documentary, marcion's theory of two gods is the one that best explains the difference between the old and the new testament.
in fact, how can god be merciful if he asked for jesus blood to appease his anger? he acted like those indonesian gods that want virgins to be thrown into a volcano.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007
you have alot of confusion. two gods implies polytheism which is logically rejected because you can not have more than one infinite entities.
there is no major difference between old and new testament but new testament is nothing and does not address any laws except for a few.
shorty40merza 1 year ago
@shorty40merza
(Part I) Confusion in your mind that is not capable of accepting new ideas. dualism is logically possible, because "infinite entity" is not the same as to occupying all space.
if god exists along with other spiritual entities, like angels, saints, the virgin mary and satan, why couldn't there be two gods?
god and satan are fighting now, so why couldn’t this god be fighting with a previous one?
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 That's a whole different concept. I believe that a single God created all other things my self.
UMKOZI 1 year ago
@shorty40merza
(Part II) If there is only one god, so he changed from a tyrant to a god of love, but god couldn't change because he is immutable.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Yes, that is correct. It is said, God is permanent, forever, as is the soul. But it is also said that the soul was created by God and can be destroyed, and that God changed his mind...both things already negate the "infallible" word of the Bible, for they effectively destroy His immutability & the soul's permanence. No permanent thing can be born, nor can it change in any way. These contradictions the sheep do not see. Wonder u why they sow destruction while professing peace & love?
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia Concerning to the soul, I don't see any contradiction. it is eternal, provided that you don't disobey him. the condition doesn't make the assertion illogical.
but I agree with the rest of your comment.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - "it is eternal, provided that you don't disobey him."
Then is would not be eternal. Don't put conditions on things which are supposed to be eternal. That would immediately negate its "eternalness". Furthermore, if it were eternal, it would not ever have been created but always been there. Therefore again, it is NOT eternal.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia The soul will have eternal life (will be in paradise forever), it doesn’t mean it is eternal like god (no beginning and no end), because if it were so, it couldn’t have been created by him.
you got lost in the literal interpretation of the words.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Don't expect people to discount the meaning of words in a book which hinges on every single word. That is absurd. You will end up with a hideous mass of suffering such as we have today in Islam, Christianity and Judaism...all because there are people who expect others to ignore language in some places and follow it to the tee in other places. Either a word means something or not. Let there be no cherry picking.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia No, I inferred it from basic logics. if god created souls, they must have a beginning.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - "No, I inferred it from basic logics. if god created souls, they must have a beginning."
Have you not read the Bible? Peter and talks down to men of logic and wisdom. He tells us that they are fools. So when we use logic to interpret the Bible, we are being fools. This foolishness is utterly contemptible. Demand submission and abandonment of logic for the Word, yet expect people to use logic to interpret them. Friend, you can't have it both ways. This is hypocrisy.
matreyia 1 year ago
@efex2007 - You see how "fair" the Word of God is? It is insanity. They are words of a person who wishes to be babied to his every whim no matter how unreasonable they be. Full of exceptions to this or that. Bashing logic, wisdom, then declaring their own supreme wisdom and truth. Utterly ridiculous.
matreyia 1 year ago
@efex2007 - It is as though the authors believe they alone have the authority to use language in whatever way they please. There is no need to dignify this thought.
matreyia 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Now how learned or wise do you think you are compared to the legions of linguistic theologians who spent their lives interpreting this or that? How much of a religion for people does this make it? There have been geniuses, philosophical masters who have had contradiction views on all manner of issues, including your simple inference of the soul. This I say again is stupidity dressed in intellect. Unreasonable, unfair and unfit to be revered.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia Stop beating around the bush. we are just analyzing the compatibility of the ideas
The soul is eternal vs. god created the soul
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - I do not beat any bush friend. I am trying to remove the bush so you might see clearly.
The soul is eternal: then God did not create it.
God created the soul: then it is not eternal.
End of story. Who is beating around what bush here? If you want to swim in a sea of leniency concerning the meanings of words and logic, it is your right to do so. I merely state my own here. No offense meant. Just honest observations.
matreyia 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Come on friend, how hard could it be to write a simple sentence explaining that the soul is created by God and is dependent upon God's will to exist or be destroyed. If this were written in the first place, our current discussion would not even exist since it there is no contradiction. But they place the burden of explanation upon themselves who claim that it is eternal yet subject to birth and destruction by the hand of God.
That is all I am saying here.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia I'm not religious, im just speculating with religious logics, as much as you..
The soul is eternal vs. god created the soul is totally compatible. The eternal soul is the one which goes to heaven, it is not the one that does not have beginning.
We are not entering in the discussion whether, in a scientific point of view, he exists or not, or if he has beginning or not.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Then you are welcomed to live in your world of logic. If there are two souls which die and live forever, it would behoove the authors to say so. If there is only one soul which is not eternal, but dependent upon God's mercy to live or not, they should also say so. If there is a soul which is eternal, then say so without saying that it can be destroyed or be born. You say an eternal soul is compatible with with one which is created by God. You are wrong. I am sorry you do not see it.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia Because words are limited, sometimes we have to understand them through context.
John swears eternal allegiance to his country – since he had conscience of his patriotism to the end of his life.
God is eternal (according to the dogma) – no beginning and no end.
The soul is eternal – since god created it, but with no end (except for those who will go to hell).
Why is it so hard to understand that the word "eternal" can be applied with different lengths?
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 -"Why is it so hard to understand that the word "eternal" can be applied with different lengths?"
Why is it so hard to understand that the word "eternal" has a meaning and cannot be applied to different lengths? Who gave anyone the authority to modify the meaning of this or any other word?
You expect any sane person to just accept something someone wrote without proper examination?
There is no one who is wrong here except for the one who says that eternal does not mean eternal.
matreyia 1 year ago
@matreyia For one who does not realize the subtleties of words, it’s dangerous for him to say that he loves his mother and his girlfriend, because he can take any of them to the bed. Love is love, he could say.
efex2007 1 year ago
@efex2007 - Yes you are right. But he could also say what kind of love and it would be quite easy to understand him. Love surely has many meanings.
Yet "eternity" has only one meaning and not many. So your metaphor is inappropriate here.
Eternal means eternal. It does not mean long lasting, nor existing until destroyed,
