  • " IT´S TOO HEAVY!"

  • 1:59 "is too heavy! D:"

  • Hey I need help! I have a DJM400 one out goes to my aux speakers and the other goes to mic input on my laptop. • i lost you at "sound card"

  • Monster cables are a rip off.

  • @anessenator Planet Waves. Enough said.

  • I have a hard time to run my songs with good quality because the video is made in windows movie maker. No matter how good quality I have in my songs WMM fucks it up. I need a shortcut that meens an easy way to get good quality. Someone help please??

  • I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series sound card and this thing still doesn't sound right

  • Monster Cables are over-priced pieces of crap (no crap though)

Monster has brainwashed you in to thinking that their $100 HDMI cable is really that much better than a $30 HDMI cable, and all cables.

Yes, there is a little bit more build quality in Monster products, but not enough in your video and sound quality to justify the price tag for the regular consumer.

  • Monster cables are so over- rated... unless you are like studio recording.... but most cables are decent quality...

    just fyi-

    DJ Electfire

  • would a method with this cable would you be able to have good audio striaght from your mixer when live streaming a mix like on ustream or justin.tv?

  • would it be the same way if you had the cdj 900 since it already has a built in soundcard

  • Audigy 2ZS and Line-In = DREAMTEAM ;)

  • hey mate, can u help me out a bit here, im using a logitech webcam, and one of the behringer USB soundcards... 2x800mk2 & djm 400...

i cant figure out how to get it to work..... what do i plug into what input.output on the soundcard for it to work??? Fail :-( i can get it to record video no worries, but no sound direct from the mixer... only from the webcam microphone... please help, would be appreciated

  • nvm, i got it... had to upload drivers on soundcard.

    thanks mate

  • can I plug in the headphone jack to the Mic. output?

  • "its too heavy!" haha loved it

  • I do not have the gear to connect my video device to pc . so how can i just record my sound??

  • Where did you get your RCA to mini jack cable cotts?

  • hey this has been a big help, my only problem is that i dont have audio in my videos, how may i fix this?

  • Comment removed

  • hah sorry jlvsoundengineering its a little hard to take you seriously when you use words like "mension" instead of "mention" when you type.

  • I totally agree with you, but the whole point of this video was to show a cheap and effective way to improve on a lot of setups that people are using for youtube videos. It is catered for the majority of people. Most people are not going to spend a lot of money on Monster cables as the majority of people wont notice the difference. I do use good quality cabling for my own gear and the people that are in the know about good quality cabling and components will not be watching this video ;)

  • You could also use SPDIF (Digital Coax.) if your mixer and your sound card has ports for those, I suppose.

  • @DjCotts this guy was just trying to advertise his most likely failing business lol (if he's resulting to advertising on other youtube videos)

  • You wouldn't notice the difference on Youtube videos or even cheaper speakers.

  • @jlvsoundengineering Monster cables are a huge waste of money, it's been proved that there is almost no difference at all.

  • @jlvsoundengineering Monster Cables have been proven again and again to be sub par and not worth their extreme price markup. Also for something like youtube, that is massive, massive overkill.

Also, using a microphone to record a DJ set from your speakers is just plain foolish. You have the option of recording the audio directly from the mixer's line out or record out, it's a clean signal and not subject to room acoustics. It also won't pick up you coughing and other things like that.

  • @jlvsoundengineering i am honestly a MONSTER cable fan myself, but honestly, there are better out there, just don't stick to brand names (ish a hypocrite now) but yeah.. explore everything, discover what you or the indv. like the most.

as for a good microphone, the can cost thousands

  • @jlvsoundengineering I contacted this guy and he flat out lied! Dont listen to him

  • djcotts your a STAR!!!!!!!!!!!...........I will post this aroun youtube as its one of the most frequently asked questions.........it was only the other day my mate was asking how to do it and now I know!!!!!!

    PEACE!!!!!!!!!

  • i have a booth and a tape output on my mixer can i use the tape output if so how do i set it up im using an external sound card creative live soundblaster 24 bit

  • IT'S TOO HEAVY!!!

  • where did u get the background?

  • "its too heavy" lol

  • thank u, very helpful

  • CHEERS Cotts this really helped ALOT

  • So , can i record my mixes to my pc with an behringer uca 202?

    what software i need??

    somebody knows if its good??

lots of thanks to everyone for the help

  • No software needed. Just plug it in, make sure you have all the connections and stuff and it should work. Works for me anyway.

  • you can use any sound recorder, even the microsoft one. I'd usually prefer any audio mastering software to use along with it. A nice program just to record can also be "Audiopad", widely available on the net. which is payware though but it can record up to whatever your RAM can hold, be sure to try to record on as high of a bitrate as your mic can take.

  • I have a problem, if you want to record by plugging the cable from the master output on mixer to pc, how do you play through external speakers at the same time or is this not possible?

  • buy a splitter also known as y cables

  • What you've got mixed up is that hes talking about a line-in Socket, meaning the audio is going INTO the computer. To hook up External speakers you should look for a green socket (or line-out) and plug speakers into there. you might have to fiddle with a few settings to get that to work. hope it helps =]

  • No I mean can you connect the MIXER to BOTH computer (to record) AND speakers (BOTH CONNTECTED VIA MIXER) or is it MIXER connected to PC and speakers connected to PC??

  • ofc u can...well at least on mine i can...my mixer got 2 outputs , one is the master out and the other is booth/session out....so i got my master out hook up to my pc while the other goes to my booth speakers...hope that helps

  • what i would give to get up outa bed every morning and look at them decks :)

  • heey, there'd my u control go:P

  • thank you that helped!

  • i can't get myne to work!

I did everything correctly but it doesn't seem to work! If anyone could please help me out i would really aprecriate it!

Take a look at my video!

    Thanks alot!

  • thanks for tut mate, helped alot ;)

  • Cotts i have one computer and thats downstrairs and im going to put my decks in my room wich is upstairs, how do i record if the comp is downstairs? If you could give me some advise that would be gratefull. thanks

  • £20 the cheapist i seen it

  • THIS MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH.

However Cotts does it a bit differently from me. I might show you guys how i do it....it's a bit harder though >_>

  • omg 2:00 hahahahahaha

  • hey he posted this on my birthday :D

  • 2 days after mine :P

  • i use total recorder and just select "what you hear" and record that.

no need for extra mixer and all that.

  • want to send that spare mixer my way since its just lying around xD

    but srsly

  • When are you going to do another mix vid.

  • Hey, haven't you not once made an f.a.q. where you answered all that was in this vid too?

  • i'm spanish and i don't understand so much english. i'm so sorry

  • why you got a thumbs down is beyond me man, god forbid someone from another country isn't a scholar in english...

  • cotts, man please tell me what camera do you use to record your mixes , and how you conect it to the computer. cheers

  • as long as I've seen in the vid, he's using an logitech webcam, but you can use nearly every webcam that's good enough, for example, I'm using an eyetoy ;)

  • man , lots of thanks for the informationn! cheers

  • haha who isnt using an eyetoy =P

  • Exellent mate , been wonderign how to do this 4 ages , hopefully sort it out now when i get a laptop lol , keep it up mate nice work , look forward to your next mix!!! peace

  • dude use your record outs!

  • again I reiterate here im just doing a simple explination for the masses and how it can work for just about everyone. Im not suggesting that this is my own method applicable to my setup.

  • hey thats cool, soundcard is more important anyway (its all about the SOUND). Yeah just make sure you ride those levels guys, nothing in the red, digital just dont like it! Salivating that next mix brother. Keep it hardcore

  • @DjCotts hey cotts what wrong you havent done a mix in a while

  • good video =] will give this a shot when i get my setup together :]

  • Great tutorial Dude, alot better then any other ive seen on youtube :D

  • Dude you should mix more gabber the gabber mix is one of your best.

  • Ooh... Movie maker... I personally would not recommend using this (can record into a lossy format). I would use a freeware audio program such as Audacity (recommended because of broad range of compatible OSes) or something similar. That way, you can directly edit the wav file if you want and save it to other formats from there. That way you are sure you are not losing any quality. From there you can import it into movie maker. This is what I do when I record my mixing. Just throwing this out.

  • Im not talking about recording a mix here, personally I use Sony SoundForge to record all of my mixes. Im just talking about a basic way to record a video mix with decent enough sound quality for youtube (improving on the mic that a lot of people use) I understand that there are better ways to do this but it does the job this way and is simple enough for the masses to follow

  • Oh... Ok. I thought you meant directly recording audio mixes. Nevermind.

  • lets add up how much cotts set up is....

    2cdj 1000s $1,499.99 each

    2cdj 800s $799.99 each

    efx-1000 $899.99

    2 stanton str8 150 turntables $499.99 each

    djm 800 $1699.99

    roughly $8,199.92 usd,6,456.37 EUR 12,670.63 AUD

    5,953.84 GBP

plus speakers n add nother 700usd for djm 707 n maybe more

  • hdj 1000s another $180 usd

  • Soundblaster FTL!!!!

  • I know there are better cards, but most people know them ;)

  • ok so we no how you get the sound and audio, but how do you get SUCH LONG VIDEOS!!!

  • I am a youtube Partner and I signed up for youtube years ago when the time limit restrictions were not put in place.

  • oh ok so i take it u cant sign up any more?

  • Wow, a reply from the man himself. I'm honored. Personally I would get a nice M-Audio card.

  • hahahah more like thankyou for posting. Anyway M-Audio are doing some really nice cards, I just use the Soundblaster due to it being at a nice price point and the external XFi bay with coax in etc.. It does the job excellent for what is.

  • wtf "its too heavy" roflz

  • GREAT hehe thanks man!

got one question though, been using Virtual Dj +fruity loops and what not, but i want to get a deck, are there any "cheap" beginer one i should get? thanks man!

  • if you search his vids for an FAQ vid, I am pretty sure he talks about it in there. not 100% though, it;s worth a look!

  • What did you say the external sound card was? I couldn't understand it. Behringer, or something? Thanks if you can answer me!

  • hey cotts nice vid ... are you working on any cool new mixes that we should look out for .. Cheers :D

  • i will be doing one soon :) you may like to watch it , thanks wilko

  • i think i myt actually do tht .. cheers man

  • Don't forget that if your audio card and mixer both support digital audio, you can get top quality by connecting them with an optical cable. This kind of set up is more complicated (beyond the scope of this video) but worth it in the long run.

  • yeah agreed, also that way you get no ground noise between the two sources, unfortunately not many mixers have an optical out.

  • I'm raving to this. Good Sound quality too.

  • i record my videos in my photo-camara and the audio into the computer using a soundcard (like this video, but only the audio, no video), then, I edit the video and join the video plus the audio (of course, i remove the original audio of the video) and walla.... very good stereo sound quality xD and if you watch the video in HD the audio is more clear than the lite version of the video (if your videos support HD)

I hope this may help one of you guys!

  • Thanks for posting mate, interesting to see how everyone does it.

  • no problem man...

    good job!

  • nice vid cotts

to make sure that the sound is ok i use the program called "Audacity" to calibrate the volume.

just setup your input in audacity, play some record and make sure that the red bars that show the input do not go higher that about 2db of the end of the bar.

oh cotts, give me your msn/icq pls, wanna talk to you. i mean,we got birthday on the same day, that is cool isn't it? :P

  • on windows vista movie maker it is not possible to record from a webcam any more. They only allow digital recording imputs ie NO WEBCAMS.....

you can still record sound though.

  • ah really? crap! ill check it out when I get home and confirm.. thanks dude

  • Thanks!! great vid

  • NICE

  • its too heavyy!!!! lolol

    cotts you're amazing!

    thanks for the advice

  • sent if you want a link to buy this soundcard

  • Nice one for taking time out to help your fans. :)!

  • Awesome i use that Behringer exept i record with Audacity :D. Good tutorial.

  • cheers for the advice cotts love the tech vids can i have a shoutout in your next vid

  • Thanks for advice.

It would be really usefull, I always wonder how to get good quality - especially of sound.

    cheers
