It's not a reputable historian, just a documentary maker PR hack for CCP. Listen to him. If you've read any credible Tibetan history (Goldstein, Shakya), you'll know exactly what he's doing. And making money at it, obviously.
A lot of this is based on Parenti's crap, mixed with classic CCP-twisted history books. Go here for a scholarly rebuttal of a lot of this junk:
BRUSSELS, April 7 - The European Parliament is expected to call on Wednesday for a boycott by EU leaders of the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics, unless China engages in talks with the Dalai Lama over the violence in Tibet.

Why does China keep on calling Tibet an Internal Matter? When it has been established that Tibet was an independent nation, falling outside the Great Wall of China, then Tibet is a FOREIGN COUNTRY and NOT AN INTERNAL MATTER of China.
Can the US, by the same token, say that Iraq and Afghanistan are US's internal matters now because the US has control over their territories? NO. Same way, China cannot just capture some territory, behead all the inhabitants there and call it an INTERNAL MATTER.
Didn't America won New Mexico, Arizona, California and Texas from Mexico? So if Mexico instigates the American Mexicans to break the law with real or perceived grievances is that an internal matters for the US ?
BEIJING - New violence has broken out in a volatile Tibetan region of western China, leaving eight people dead, an overseas Tibet activist group said Friday. China's official Xinhua News Agency said a government official was seriously injured.

The CCP wants Tibet for its minerals, oil, timber, strategic position, and lebensraum. They would cheerfully exterminate all Tibetans if they could and if that would get them what they want.
Human rights and human decency mean nothing to men like Hu Jintao.
That bears repeating: The CCP wants Tibet for its minerals, oil, timber, stategic position, and lebensraum. I'm not so sure about the extermination though. It easier for them just to swamp Tibet with say 100 million excess Han from China, isn't it? The six million Tibetans would simply disappear in that huge human inundation.
THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT THE CHINESE WANTED! western media and tourists camera caught suspects red handed again! this and all the video camera footages from foreign tourists are the best evidence the police have against the vandals, rioters, arsonists, murderers, and other crazy monks and crazy fools.... did these monks really think they or their buddies or accomplices were going to get reprieve from the riot implication crying out to foreigners like this? now they're crying in interrogation rooms!
Actually, tourist photos show that most of the destructive acts on Mar. 14 involved emptying out shops of commercial goods, and burning them in the street. Though buildings were also torched (and deplorably, people died in them), the MAJORITY of acts were of goods destruction rather than attacks on people.
The monks did not do these things, roving gangs of "youths" did. Some of the rioters are now identified as disguised Chinese police. We know they also instigated arson and looting in 1989.
A Thai lady who was living in Lhasa identified a Lhasa policeman she SAW coming into the station during the riot, put down his machete and change from Tibetan clothes back into his uniform. She recognised him in a photo distributed to media by Chinese embassies. He was "outed" at a D'sala rally on Mar 17.
Other witnesses reported seeing PLA donning monks' robes during the unrest (nothing to do with that old photo of PLA actor / monks). A Chinese journalist documented the same tactic in 1989.
I've seen it so many times: anyone who doesn't adore the CCP is biased. Convenient word to throw around when there is so much evidence against the ChiComs.
kkay: Look dumb**s, pay attention. Monks of Drepung, Sera and Ganden made processions for four days before the Lhasa youth riots Mar.14. Monks, nuns and laypeople have been making peaceful marches all across eastern Tibet ever since, until today.
At least one "rioter" on Mar. 14 was a policeman. People have reported seeing other security forces ON THAT DAY, changing into Tibetan clothes.
The monks and others shot by Chinese forces, including Apr.3&5 in Sichuan, were NOT violent.
Britain's GCHQ, the government communications agency that electronically monitors half the world from space, has confirmed the claim by the Dalai Lama that agents of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the PLA, posing as monks, triggered the riots that have left hundreds of Tibetans dead or injured..

Crocodile tears from the monks. How do they know 100 were killed or 1000 arrested blah blah, since they complained they were confined for 2 weeks. Maybe Dharasamla called them on the cell phone, LOL. Compared to Gitmo, 2 weeks of confinement in the Jokhang is nothing. LOL.
What are you talking about? You don't think they can talk on cellphones to other Lhasans? Yell out the window? The point they made has nothing to do with casualty figures.
They told the journalists that CCP is lying. CCP is lying. They said CCP is playing with deceit and tricks. They are. ET has the proof, take a look.
A lady from Thailand discovered the truth about one of their planted "rioters with swords." She saw him change his clothes, from Tibetan back to uniform - in the police station.
This is real about Tibet. China must start new policy towards Tibet for having negotiation with Tibetan Government in exile. Otherwise China will and have to great chanllenge near future. Present lie policy never work in 21st century time. FUKC UP CHINESE
You are a pathetic, ignorant fool. Why bother posting your non-thought here? You will see that Tibetans will regain their country, because they have the support of billions around the planet due to the excellent and effective public relations of HH The Dalai Lama. China's outrages against human rights will not stand.
You are just bunch of no-brain fools who have been well manipulated by the media and Dalai Lama. As an American, you don't even have the right to bark here, you chose an idiot president through your 51% democracy, and invaded iraq. there's no justice in this world, power speaks, please look at yourself. USA is just another typical evil empire, wipe your own ass before you judge China.
I don't approve of Bush and Cheney and consider them to be war criminals, but the difference between here and PRC is that here we can express our views and not fear being thrown into a gulag of forced labor. American democracy is in big trouble right now and may not survive, but at least we don't have a totalitarian and oppressive government like yours.
Hey, they did tremendous reporting when.. remember the Chinese diplomat stations in Aus. defected a couple of years ago, and gave his reasons? Then a few more o/seas Chinese spoke up about PRC misdeeds (embassies in Aus. Canada and others).
Red faces at CCP, and ET did most of the reporting. Some of them may have an unapproved faith, but they are part of the democratic exile media. The way Democratic Voice of Burma or Irrawaddy magazine is for Burma.
free tibet and stop killing people world wide! china, please talk to the dalai lama, thank you! chiona be a good host for the olympic games and support human rights in tibet please.
Human rights still need to be protected worldwide. The UN is to blame, even to be shut down, if it continues to keep mute and pretends nothing like this happened.
Nothing will happen to them, China ain't like 20 years ago. Or else, the killings of 18 innocent people in Lhasa by the rioting Free Tibet mobs would not have happened, if the Chinese authorities were as "brutal" as you imply!! In fact it is that knowledge which make them speak nonsense!
The Party is as devious as it always has been, when it comes to protecting its divine right to rule. They couldn't openly slaughter monks in Lhasa, so they did it out in the eastern plateau.
Lots from Sera and Drepung were arrested during the first days (when their processions were vocal and peaceful). Rumours in Lhasa that some had already been killed behind closed doors, made a lot of people real angry.
Now the monks are sealed inside Sera etc no food or water allowed in, starving.
