  • THATS MY AUNT!!!!

  • @Renesmeecarliecullon Lucky you. Didnt' she marry a handsome white man?

  • I remember watching this when she won that year-she was very beautiful

  • My mommy named me after her :)

  • @jadeisback Little bit racist are you?

  • She is Trinidadian and so am I we have beautiful people just gorg!:)

  • @TheSocialite1 Yes you ARE a gorgeous people!

  • she only won because of politics and the fact she has little negroid fcial features

  • @TheLEEFINNIGAN: Exactly!

  • Well of course, all races have beautiful women, but before Penny won Miss Universe people of colour were excluded, and was always an also ran, in the international pageants. Penny pull down barriers and lead the way for future black winners. And she did with a true sense of style, while she radiates beauty, and intelligence, she is a woman of strength. She paved the way for many black woman world wide, still you never for get your first.lol

  • I do not agree that Black women are the most beautiful, but Penny, Miss Universe from Trinidad and Tobago is one of the most beautiful Miss Universe has had so far. She was absolute gorgeous

  • She is Trinidadian!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Congratulations to the young lady; however, since when did she start representing black women globally? Many of the comments within this forum remind me of the old saying, :you're a credit to your race". It is sad how desperate that AA females seek high and low globally for an example of a successful black female regardless of geographical location and then, claim those inds as a representative of AA female success. Seems to me success begins with the ind and not a beauty pageant.

  • @vaurnj39 Umm, just so that you know black people are in a diaspora. With that in mind, we are inter-twined and connected by blood, culture and experience. The crowing of Janelle Commissiong was a feat for ALL black women, regardless of their position in the world. And yes, we--AA women--do look high and low to celebrate excellence among our sisters. That should not bother you. That should be a cause of celebration---knowing that distance and geography has not diminished our sisterly bonds.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll Living vicariously through another individual's success in my opinion is not a cause for celebration, but then again, I am not a female. Having black skin doesn't ensure any sisterly bond because one's self-worth is not entrenched in their skin colour. As you stated culture plays an important role and last I checked there are significant differences culturally between black women globally.

  • @vaurnj39 There are more similarities between BW than differences. When we were shipped out of our homeland, we took our culture, beauty and heritage with us. Distance/geography cannot diminish sisterly bonds. To celebrate the success of another--regardless of color--does not mean we are living vicariously through that person, It means we are celebrating their achievement. When my sister (immediate relative does well, I am happy.) When my sister (BW in the diaspora) does well, I am happy.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll Celebrating individual accomplishment based upon merit is universally applauded; however, when it is celebrated based upon skin colour affiliation as though all possessing the same hue are monolithic then, that does a disservice to all. I say this because only AAs appear to value skin colour more than culture, while Blacks outside of the USA value culture significantly more than skin colour.

  • Black women= everything other women DO NOT have.

Ifyou didn't know, now you know.

    Want a real woman?

    go black.

    Dont believe me?

Put a white skinned nude model next to a brown or black skinned model nude model in front of you and see which wont give you the quickest natural boner.

    Black women= win

  • can anyone know how to or can contact Ms.Penny Janelle Commissiong on her feelings on MJ & his passing? I know she met him & since people like Stephanie Mills have spoken 'bout him-I wonder why no one has asked her? or mayb does she want to speak 'bout him? i just would luv to know who was MJ to her?

  • @markilew250 I have no idea how to contact her. And there are no public statements as to her feelings on the passing of Michael Jackson, I am sure that she is as devastated as the average fan.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll ok thanx. but i really do wish/would really luv to hear from her on her thoughts of who he was & the michael she got to know though. mayb its just too hard for her to speak, i can respect dat.

  • @markilew250 I had no idea that she even knew Michael Jackson. Were they friends?? Did they date?

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll there was this article on the 2 that was done sometime in like '77 or '78 of People mag in the Caribeans & MJ seemed to particularly went there to meet her & she had already won her title by then & the interviewer & photographer mention how shy MJ was (wich i think he mainly was b/c of the cameras) but he & her pix show 2 whisperin' 2 each other & MJ cozyin' up to her. He wood eventually bring her up in interviews hintin' takin' her out. but so far dat's all i know. more info?!

  • @MRbossman1982 Ur talking madness. Black women are way pretter than white women. Look at a black woman skin, it's always smooth and their is a glow about that stays their even when they are really old and they as stay a very long time to show that they are ageing. My grandmother is in her 80's and u can swear she's in her late 50's or early 60's and mother is in her 50's and looks like she's in her early 30's. Blacks are the best. NOTE: Not trying to be racists :)

  • @mysticplatnium your right Black Ladies are super sexy, i lost my mind for a second, lol but i found it, it was sitting next to my heart. black ladies you wil and forever have my heart.

  • @MRbossman1982

    way to be chessy.

  • She is beautiful.

  • b4 my time.

    lol

  • Aww, this was beautiful!!

  • My husband and I were in our teens when she won. I remember the headlines. She was very beautiful. I wonder where she is now.

  • @wm4bwbw4wm She is still living in trinidad and tobago now and heavily involved in the tourism industry of the island and being a cultural ambassador for trinidad and tobago

  • I remember her I was very proud when I say pics of her .....like i have always been proud of josephine baker and her career

  • What an angelic face she has!

  • 1977?! Wow! That was huge for back then. I thought the first one was in the 90's.:)

  • bella

  • If I had it my way, a black woman would win every time. But then I'm biased.

  • @KingSol0mon You have impeccable taste!

  • @KingSol0mon You have great eyes!

  • How beautiful!!

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 Ah, she is WAY before your time. WAY before. I will tell you a secret, but you have to promise not to tell anyone...

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll....LOL What's the secret? You know I wanna hear.

  • @yvessaintlaurent88 I know the secret to getting better looks, bleach your skin, get a blond weave, get blue eye contacts. and fukk alot of old rich white men.

  • @MRbossman1982 Idiot.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll Your 100% right i need to chill out on black women, i have had negative relationships with black women in the part , i need to learn how to grow up, and forgive and forget and move on. Black women are not so bad after all.

  • @MRbossman1982 I am SO glad that you are seeing the light and have decided to no longer project your hatred for SOME black women on ALL black women. Very mature of you.

  • @MRbossman1982 some secrets are best kept to your self.

  • Music should be added soon everyone. SMILE

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll The first black Miss Universe is a lady from Venezuela who won I believe in the late 90's or early 00's. This is madness for black people. Falling under the umbrella and standard of beauty of western white people. We are always looking for acceptance and approval from them. Black people in America and historically black people period have always set the standards which are followed by whites and everybody across the planet.

  • @arronnov The first black Miss Universe is pictured here. You are confused and your comment reveals just how off you are. Look at the video and google FIST BLACK MISS UNIVERSE. How is this video madness for Black people? You have your dates mixed up and now you are ignoring the earlier victory of one black woman? This video has NOTHING to do with Whites or racism. SIGH. You are confused.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll Its video madness because blacks are convinced mentally that without approval or accept by whites we are incomplete. We need the pat on the head of whites to be declared beautiful since whites believe they are the standards of beauty. The title of this video speaks for its self " The First Miss Black Universe"

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll You where right I was wrong. I mistakenly was thinking of Miss Venezuela in 98 when she finished 5th to Wendy Fitzwilliam. I was thinking of her winning because I thought consciously she should have been higher than Fifth. The following year 98 Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana won Miss Universe again. I lived in in central and south America. The sisters are beautiful down their just like in America Africa and the rest of the planet.

  • @arronnov You had your dates mixed up. I am aware of the sisters who won AFTER Janelle Commissiong, but she was the FIRST, which is why I made this video. Her win was ground breaking.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll In the end it really doesn't matter. When the consciousness of black people is that we have to be approved by whites or the first black anything is the reason we fail.We will continue to fail with this consciousness. The ancient Egyptians Nubian Ethiopians Ashanti Mali Songhai Zulus and etc weren't waiting approval or standards from whites. What you call ground breaking just proves that the black Psyche the past 600to today is still enslaved waiting for permission and approval.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll And thank you for posting this, Penny is still very beautiful, I was a young teenager when she won, my heart was shouting with joy.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll The fact is there was already two other black Miss Universe winners and another I mention who finished fifth. This madness of black people waiting baited breathe to get approval acceptance and respect of whites on their so-called Ideal of beauty and everything else when it comes to life is sickening.
