by the way thank you steve for the song cedars of lebanon. i am from beirut lebanon and it is a great gift to us who need your music in war times and peace times. Maybe blood in the rooftops is the best song ever. and the lyrics !!!if only you realize how relevant they still are to people who live in our damned middle east region.
fantastic video with the music.i can hear phil's drums here and mike's bass . am i wrong? it is almost a great genesis song.voyage of the acolyte ,what a great album dear steve!the first was the best for tony also(curious feeling)mike(smallcreeps)and ant(geese).none of them kept his fragile delicate sensitivity. (of course it is impossible because of age and changing modernity.(unfortunately?)
Now I thought this was Shadow Of The Heirophant, but then again who am "I" to be a know-it all ;) I have loved Hackett's music since I was 12. Sally Oldfield's voice is also very pretty. Beautiful video - goes with the music. Yes, "Red Flower" is also a good tune, but I love what follows it (Clocks), and my all-time Hackett favs"Tigermoth" and"What's My Name".Thanks for the video. Oh, you cut out the last weird part with the sorta' out-of-tune glockenspiel-then it goes on andonandonandonandon :)
Well, this is definitely called 'The Lovers' (spelled with an 's'), folks. The track 'Shadow of the Hierophant', not featured in this clip, comes right after 'The Lovers'. 'Shadow ...' is my personal favourite. It's great to hear both tracks without interruption as they flow right into one other with the glockenspiel mentioned above. Thanks for uploading a true classic from Steve!
Well no actually. Isn't "The Lovers" the short acoustic piece before Shadow? It shows that way on the CD and album listings. Prove me wrong please (oh how I love a Hackett debate)! :)
Hi Eartopsy. Great to see so much Hackett glorifications around here! Well, I just laid my vinyl LP- pure vintage - beside me and this is what it says on the B-side. First, it features 'Star of Sirius'. Then comes 'The Lovers' (what you're definitely hearing right here). This piece gently moves - by means of the glockenspiel - into the third and final piece on that side: 'Shadow of the Hierophant'. I see that on the CD some bonus tracks have been added. Maybe that causes some confusion?
Hey Eartopsy! You're right! If I observe the song's lyrics 'Veiling the nightshade ...' on the back sleeve, what we're hearing in this clip, they appear under the title 'Shadow of the Hierophant'! Very well noticed, my friend! I must urgently connect my record player back into the mains and straighten out my mistake :-) Great talking to ya!
There was no meaning to offend anyone, Marcybi. Please don't get me wrong. It's just great to talk with Hackett affacionados about his great music. Bye!
You can be sure of that! By the way, my record player is now alive and kicking again, making Hackett's LP's sound better than ever :-) Have a great day!!
This track is definately NOT 'The Lovers', it is the first part of the song 'Shadow Of the Hierophant'. Both the vinyl record sleeve and the CD inlay clearly show that the lyric which is being sung here ('veiling the nightshade bride stalks a flower revealed', etc.) belongs to the song 'Shadow'. As eartopsy correctly pointed out, 'The Lovers' is the short acoustic guitar piece (running time 1.49).
The grand finale of Steve's first solo album!!! Thanks a lot for the post, marcybi! ;-)
