  • Good video ken.Never even crossed my mind to do that. Thanks again.Have a merry Christmas.

  • @nolobede as I stated in the VIDEO, this is an OPTION for campers....not people who are trekking and living off the land...as for all the nonsense, and rude statements, and comments, whether fueled by others comments or not, leave those to your own mind, and not on my channel.

  • A deer will trip it... a badger won't. Ya sure its low enough?

  • @nolobede thats the point...I dont want the small animals to trip it....just the ones that can do harm

  • @MrCableguyken

I think you miss the point. Ever come across a badger pissed off because your snoring makes him think you are a threat?... If so, you'd wire it lower.

I'd take on a wild boar before a pissed off badger or wolverine any day of the week.

  • ...Besides, even a littler lower... a larger animal will trip it either way.

  • I use claymore mines. Sometimes you even get free meals.

  • What about weather? What if it gets wet?

  • @xcrazydx water doesnt bother it so far...been using this set-up for a bit now...and other than being dropped into the lake, regualr rain and moisture doesnt effect it.

  • it's cheaper to use any old sticks laying around some string and a couple small bells. set about 3in'' off the ground keeps most critters away.

  • @THEARMEDLIFE Yeah, but I am a hard sleeper...and the bells dont make enough noise long enough to wake me....especially if it is to keep some wandering kids in their tents.

  • @MrCableguyken i sleep lite myself i was just out camping this weekend i was kept awake by coons walking on my ground tarp. i only have 1 child 6 year old lil boy so i don't need to worry about him sneeking out yet ! however when he gets a little older i may need one of them alarms for my beer cooler lol.

  • I rig a string to my 10 22 trigger and tie the .22 to a tree with a slipknot. (incase I need to do more than scare off a coyote.) When big mean critter comes looking for food giveing me the creeps as I sleep in the hammock I pull the string. BANG!!! the critter goes running. And the bullet sails off into the heavens. And I still have 25 more warning shots left and an extra magazine tucked in my hammock.

  • awesome idea! and at a very common man price

  • If you boobytrap the kids tent so you know when they leave, I'm pretty sure they won't need to go any farther the the biffy after this alarm scares the whatever out of them when they stumble out of the tent at 0300...lol they might need a clean set of drawers though! By the time they are old enough to sneak out for other nefarious reasons, they most likely will have figured out how to disarm it.

  • @EricWillSurvive Yeah, once they reach the teen years I switch over to land mines and claymores, especially if I take a group of teens...lol

  • I like the concept! That would work in a bunch of situations. Good job! I found another inexpensive alarm product that works with a trip wire. The GE Personal Keychain Alarm. I have a video about it on my channel.

  • Hey very informative! Thanks!

  • The ole' dead fall on a air horn trick works too. But these are way easier to pack & set-up. So I guess I'm going to be getting some. But I think I'm going to stick with "Spyder Wire" fishing line for a trigger, good stuff, it also works great for snares.

  • been useing somithing almost the same from a £1 store that i picked up a couple of years ago. same size, runs on watch batteries, but has a pull out cord to set it off. it's meant as a panic alarm for ladies, but it works great as a trip system what never fails to amaze me brother, is how many ideas I've had that others have had the same. guess it shows we're all on the same page when it comes to adapting around the home items. great video Ken

  • Great vid ken! I thought if you run a Bank line completly around you camp and have the alarm near where you will be sleeping that it would not matter which way the "intruder" came in. It would leave in any direction away from you. Make sure you use large trees to run the line around because the wind can blow small ones and set your alarm off.

  • Haven't read through all the comments, but the only downside I see is that in the middle of the night, being able to hear is imperative. True, this would likely scare off any critter that ventured into camp, but being in your tent with that thing going off - any other sounds would likely be inaudible. I wanna know which way the griz went, if you know what I mean. Otherwise, awesome idea, definitely going to pick up a few. Thanks for posting!

  • @touchnova its a very high pitch sound..and it may mask the sounds of the animal running away. but nothing is perfect. I just need something louder than a couple of cans being banged around because i sleep so heavy. And for parents afraid that a child will wander off in the night, its that added bit of security we need. Knowing which way the bear is running is definatly a good thing to know....especially if it is pissed because he jsut got his ears pierced by an annoying squeal...LOL

  • @touchnova good point

  • Those alarms are a great idea. I'm going to do a camp security pt 2 vid soon. It will deal more with two legged animals, and will feature Brian LaMaster from Innovative Tactical Concepts. He is a professional security and executive protection specialist. Great vid as always Ken. - Critr'

  • @woodcrafter76 Sweet, you bringing out the big guns....lol Thanks Steve I cant take credit for the idea...but I agree, its a great way to secure your campsite...doesnt take up any room in the pack either. you can also use them for alarms to let you know when a trap is sprung, or a fish is on your line.

  • Good one.

I got idea, that magnet could be held close by rubber band, and attached to the main body through the bottom screw hole like a hinge, and loop the trigger wire through the upper hole, so when someone pulls the trigger, magnet just moves off like a door and activates, and if released, it goes back and shuts the alarm off.

Found these on eBay for $0.99 (my only option here) gotta get few to play around.

  • Great idea / video! You are cool under fire Ken - those "bird alarms" going off in the background didn't break your stride one bit! Love it!

  • i got the idea from darque29. he was talking about using them when doing an ubrban bugout & alarming the entry ways for abandon bldgs you might use for shelter to alert you to incoming/unwanted guests. i just adapted it for wilderness camp secutrity & trap setting alert. check out darque29's channel if you like guns. he has an awesome (the best) urban bugout bag (BOB) ive ever seen. tell him i sent ya.

  • they have them @ the dollar tree for a buck

  • Great video . You know it wuld be a good idea to paint them .

  • Awesome idea, I have alot of Bear and Cougar in my area and it's always something that's on your mind.

    Keep up the great videos.

  • Hey Ken I found about 30 of those I had bought at big lots on sale 2 for $1.00 and never did anything with them if you need some extras to send out or whatever Brother just let me know. Great idea will be adding that to my kit as of now!!

  • @alabamasurvivalgroup I picked up 4 when I got mine...enough for a couple of entry alarms, and a couple of snare or trap alarms.

  • Great demo Like the trip wire Amazing what ideas a warped dyed hair individual can come up with sometimes : D

  • I fogged some OD green spray paint over mine to make them more stealth, but used bright orange for the ones on my ice fishing tip-ups. These let you know when you catch something in the dark, or in a whiteout.

  • Great Ken, I will look for these.

  • Very interesting Ken....This may keep the black bear away from my campsite!

  • @bushcraftbartons Dont have much experiance with bears, but I figure as loud and high pitch as this is, it should startle them, and deter them from going any farther. and at the very least it will let you know they are there...I walked away till I couldnt hear it good, and with my old ears I was almost 100 yards away in the open..so maybe 50 yards in the dense stuff you should still hear it

  • Great video Ken Thanks again !

  • good video, Thanks Ken

  • Ken folk if a lion comes in my camp I'm going to have to say F@#% IT or I'm going to jail for camping at Bush Gardens :) good video just got a smile from that ...

  • if you could find some with diffrent tones it would be easier to tell from which direction the intruder is coming from or in your senario which tent has been opened

its an excelent idea much better then the old tin can and stones trick

  • @wolfbrother2501 tin cans never wake me up...I need a long annoying noise once I get to sleep...My brother Fixedbydoc below here has a few vids where he actually uses them to alert him when a snare is sprung..you should check out his vids...great ideas he has.

  • @MrCableguyken lol i did check him out and subbed him

  • you did a better job showing this than i did. 5/5

  • if you get the keychain version you can make an alarm for your backpack or for snare alert when the snare gets something and is sprung then the alarm is pulled to let you know so you dont have to keep a chack on it which could scare away the potential animal but if it gets sprung you need to reset it so the alarm will let you know. i made a vid on the keychain spring snare.

  • @FixedByDoc Saw the spring snare vids...dont be setting any of those up when you out with Jim...I dont want to read where you 2 killed each other with traps and practicale jokes...LOL
