Hey I have a quick question, I'm getting this stick that is pre-owned, and I'm wondering, if these sticks last a long time over general use, I plan to switch the buttons and the stick, which I know tend to have a limited life span depending on use, but I'm wondering if like all the connector cables and functionality all last a long time. A small insight would be helpful, thanks.
I ordered a Sanwa JLF-TM-8T-SK Joystick and it still hasn't gotten here but regardless I am already looking into ordered a bat top for it. Am I going to need a thread adapter to install it?, Lizard lick was sold out.
@ToonFreak559 it simply looks longer because the vid is vertically stretched. I had some issues with the aspect ratio in that vid. the sanwa bat top is not that long in real life^^
@gunther72 yea but if you dont have 130-150$ you can get this little thing for like 50-60$ and the parts online for under 30$...you actuall save a lot IMO
@SilvaShadow1990 Under 30? no. 3$ a button so thats 18-24 dollars, then the joystick is 22$ so thats 40-46$ plus shipping which is around 20$ so in all its around 60$. You still save money but not that much.
did the same thing and replaced all buttons due to the fact that the buttons would not respond as i wanted them too. so after replacing all the buttons including the joystick as well now it wont go up, left or right. i also replaced the 4 way with an 8 way as well. can you give this newbie some pointers as soon as possible.
@jfam0409 sounds like there's nothing wrong with the buttons but with the pcb. changing the pcb is much more complicated than simply changing buttons so I can't really help you with that problem, sorry.
@jfam0409 you need to flip the connector wire. I change my sticks from Seimitsu to Sanwa regularly. (dont ask why, im just odd) and if the wire is upside down i can only move down and slightly down left. Open box up, flip connector to stick upside down and enjoy.
@HCNguyen86 I heard that some sticks have problems with unresponsive buttons not registering inputs but I'm really not sure what's causing it since I modded my stick right after I got it. I replaced all original parts with sanwa components and haven't had any problems with the stick so far.
@HCNguyen86 Open up your box and look at the plug and play ears on the buttons. Ive modded 4 of these and 3 out of 4 stock brand new had buttons with issues that once you opened and looked at the connections you could see bent ears on the buttons or loose wiring.
Just a quick question - how much height does the bat top add to the stick?
I have a SE Fightstick modded almost the same as yours, but mine still has a balltop. Great for SF4, but I've tried playing Tekken 6 with it, and find it to be too short for that. I'm thinking a bat top may be the answer...
I just got my HRAP3 and modded it with sanwa buttons and a black bat top... but the sanwa buttons are too sensitive to my liking o.O so... I ordered seimitsus which take a bit more pressure.
Also ordered an octagate for it, for improved 8-way controls.
From the people I've talked to that have been there, most BR cabinet sticks in Korea actually use a circular base like American sticks, but with a different spring system.
I prefer square gates for 3d fighters since you always know when you hit a diagonal (you can kinda "lock" in the diagonal). I prepaired this stick especially for Tekken 6 and I really like it!
ah i see, thanks for the response. i will try to mod my stick with the same parts as yours :D if you wanna play some matches when t6 comes out, my gamertag is Otitis
alright, but you should order both a ball top and a bat top. it's a question of preference, so you should try both out. I personally prefer the "american/korean"-style bat tops. btw I updated the vid with annotations fyi^^
definitely, i have the stock SE stick right now with the ball top... i like the ball top for street fighter, but i always remember playing tekken in the arcade on a bat top. i think it gives your hand/wrist more grip for wavedashing. i definitely wanna get a bat top, same color as yours too :P
You use a square gate or a octagon? and which do you think is better?
MarioBro15 8 months ago
@MarioBro15 this vid is pretty outdated. I use a ball top with square gate now and I'm very comfortable with it.

can anyone answer this, Does having the shaft cover affect anything at all?

Do you know why the original buttons for this fightstick always seem to not register?

how do you measure the size of the buttons? from rim to rim, or the edges of the actual push part of the button?

How long did it take your parts to get to you after you ordered them? I keep hearing mixed results from people.

probably a week.

I don't know about the height of the balltop, but I just checked my bat top JLF, it's 7cm high (measured from the case).
marnauma 2 years ago
how is it too short? all tekken arcades (except korea) have balltops.
