This is the original album version, that's why people may not like the way it sounds. I much prefer Dave songs recorded live, because he seems to let loose and enjoy them a lot more, with both the vocals and instrumental bits. This was right after, or somewhere around, the release of Stand Up, so it's definitely a different, more studio-oriented sound.

I looked at the 'video' video and for the entire song he plays a baritone until the solo at the end where he uses an alto. On this video he uses a tenor the whole time. Now, I'm no saxophone expert but that may have something to do with it. Who nows?
