It's hilarious and a little sad because the best guitar work Clapton ever did is all over this little known album, lol. No, seriously. This is the BEST of Clapton, right here.
Yeah...Rogerhas always had very animated head movements like that...if you see his live shows especially. The 4 inch thick leather shoulder strap should have been the first clue that he's playing a heavier guitar like a bass. not to mention the fact that in his later shows like In the Flesh, he plays the 6 string quite well. Not as good as Eric, but at no time does this video actually show Roger playing a 6 string-WTF...

he couldve been describing my ex there. pure unadulterated genius. i wonder how it wouldve panned out if the band chose this n not the wall? clapton on the wall n the band on this ? the mind boggles
Waters must have opened some serious doors of perception, cause arabs with knives and nuclear holocausts are one thing but a crazy puppy sandwich eating woman, now that's a nightmare!!
I might just add that Eric Clapton was not happy with his work on this album and he has not associated himself with it at all. Maybe the reason why he chose to not be on the video perhaps?
I agree with @purplefloyd1739, this is the best solo of the album and in fact I never thought Eric Clapton was any good until I heard this. Was my first CD I ever bought and easily one of my favourites. I dont agree that Roger was trying to act like he's playing Eric's guitar, he's just singing and playing bass. If you knew Roger you would know he has no reason to act like Eric or anyone. He is Roger Waters! Enough said on this topic.
For those who are complaining that Rog is trying to act like he is playing guitar, I heard him give Eric Clapton the highest praise in an interview in 1984. He said Clapton told him to tell him what he wanted the solo to sound like and he would do it. Clapton nailed it in one take.
Hey...girl Take out the dagger And let's have a stab at the sexual revolution Hey girl Let freedom for all be our rallying call Tomorrow lets make our new resolution Yeah, but tonight lie still While I plunder your sweet grave And remember Only the poor can be saved Hey girl As I've always said I prefer your lips red Not what the good Lord made But what he intended
he's speaking about being trapped in mundane societal suburban life, (the maze). the whole reference is
I am only a rat in a maze like you
And only the dead go free
So...please hold my hand
As we blunder through the maze...
meaning, I believe, that we all are trapped, wandering through the life we are assigned, looking for the prize, and the only way to leave the maze is to leave life itself.
sorry, I know you wrote that you arent an english speaker... I hope this helps anyway!
@artiefiscal thanks again for you time,, but i have a doubt,, What's the relation or the meaning between the lyrics and the title of the song "Sexual Revolution"??
@thewalln What I think that the sexual revolution represents this: The character in the song wants to be set free by having sex with the female he's speaking to,
"Hey...girl Take out the dagger
And let's have a stab at the sexual revolution"
She is a stranger to him, the Hitchhiker in his dream. Sex between them would be "revolutionary". Metaphorically, the sexual revolution was a new way of seeing life and an emancipation from the "maze" I hope this helps!
no other way to put it, Roger is a genius. No if and or buts about it. He's written music for every genre from rock to opera, he's even directed films. He is the very essence of bad-assery. If that isn't a word, it should be.
We Americans are all still scorned for our natural sexual acceptance to those that welcomed our advances in those days...that would be your grandmas and mommas. Sorry bout that bit of truth. At least some of you inherited better dental structure.
To me "Floyd" is a tie of many people doing many things. If you claim the real Floyd is only Syd, or only Roger, or only David, you just keep reading fanzines and make sure you keep the most popular opinion. This is no doubt Roger's, but it's still Floyd to me.
Yup. Check out 5:01 am The Pros and Cons of Hitchiking from 2m.20 onwards.
allenshinobi84:
This album wasn't going to be "The Wall" but you're close.
Roger Waters presented two concepts for the last "real" Pink Floyd album. "Pros and Cons" and "The Wall".
The band voted for "The Wall" because they felt "Pros and Cons" was to much Roger's own thing, too autobiographical, so people may not relate to it as readily as they would "The Wall". Roger used the "spare" concept for his own first album.
he clearly isnt trying to make himself to be playing claptons part.. look at his body movements and its to the bass notes so wind your neck inand enjoy great musi
@purplefloyd1739 I'm sorry but I don't see it . Everyone know Waters plays bass and I think that's what he was doing the whole time. Rogers is not the type to try to take credit... watch some of his live stuff, he stands back and only comes forward to sing into the mic. Someone could make the mistake, and I see what you're saying, but I don't think it s that he trying to take credit at all.
@purplefloyd1739 hahahahaha..... in the music video to "lets dance", david bowie acts like he's playing SRV's guitar at the end solo... that too is a faux pas.... all I can say is the guitar on this album is surreal..... this is without a doubt the best solo on it and one of my favorite clapton solos I've ever heard
oh bubba henry....rogerw is just dancing and dooin' da air geetarz....he knows hes jus a' writer...not a playa...dat's why he wrote dis song! ver tanki
@purplefloyd1739 Roger is NOT acting like he's playing Clapton's guitar. He's playing bass. Just look at his stance. The camera doesn't pan far back enough to show his instrument, but he is CLEARLY playing bass. Any musician should be able to tell.
@purplefloyd1739 I think he's playing bass on this video as should be. wold be quite stupit for him to pretend to be playing guitar when the sound is so clapton style.
@purplefloyd1739 I think you're mistaken... there's a heavy bass line that goes with the guitar riffs... re-watch the first one in the video, the first movement looks like he's mimicking the guitar, but watch the next movements - they go with the bass line.
It's hilarious and a little sad because the best guitar work Clapton ever did is all over this little known album, lol. No, seriously. This is the BEST of Clapton, right here.
